Do you know | Drinking Coffee First Thing in the Morning is a Bad Idea | Benefits of Coffee - Duration: 4:26.

do you know, why drinking coffee first thing in the morning is a bad idea

It may be time to reconsider when you drink that first cup, said by Roberto A. Ferdman.

Coffee has ingrained itself in the mechanisms of so many people's early morning routines.

There is something romantic about brewing a carafe, or holding a freshly bought cup

close, first thing.

There is also something practical about it: Sipping piping hot caffeine as soon as possible

prepares us for the day — or, at the very least, for the coming few hours.

But drinking coffee shortly after waking up, as it turns out, is actually a bit counterproductive.

Not only does it undermine the caffeine's effect, but it tends to lead people to build

a tolerance for the drug, thereby diminishing its effect down the road.

Our bodies produce a hormone called cortisol, which has been branded the "stress hormone,"

because it tends to appear when we are either stressed or fearful.

But that same hormone is also a key component of our natural, day-long hormonal cycle, known

as the circadian clock, which helps wake us up in the morning and wind us down at night.

The gist is that when our body releases cortisol, we feel more awake.

the popular science explainer Youtube channel ASAP Science, shows, there is such thing as

a less than ideal time to drink coffee.

And that time is first thing in the morning, when cortisol levels are highest.

There are two basic problems with consuming caffeine when cortisol production is high.

First, caffeine tends to interfere with the production of cortisol.

The body then produces less of the hormone and relies more on the caffeine.

Second, drinking coffee while cortisol is high leads us to develop long-term tolerances

for caffeine, which is why so many habitual coffee drinkers say it has less of an effect

on them.

In effect, caffeine replaces the boost we would ordinarily get from cortisol rather

than supplementing it.

Three times throughout the day — in the early morning, around mid-day, and in the

evening–cortisol levels rise.

Studies have shown that when people talk about developing a "tolerance" for coffee, they

are often talking — albeit unknowingly — about the reality that their coffee consumption

has fostered a decrease in the amount of cortisol their body produces during the day.

It's during the troughs above — between roughly 10 a.m. and noon, and 2 p.m. and 5

p.m.—when people should drink coffee if they want to get the most out of their caffeine.

Between those hours, the coffee is actually most needed, and, perhaps most importantly,

will not interfere with our body's own essential mechanism for keeping us alert.

Studies have shown that when people talk about developing a "tolerance" for coffee, they

are often talking — albeit unknowingly — about the reality that their coffee consumption

has fostered a decrease in the amount of cortisol their body produces during the day.

Are Coffee Dates Bad? - Part 1 - Duration: 3:42.

When it comes to a first date, many choose to meet up for a quick cocktail, right?

Especially if you're like, well, if you're trying to date blogger Katy Horwood,

you better not take her out to get coffee, okay?

Because this is a big debate now.

So Katy wrote an article for the Metro UK, titled,

why lunchtime coffee dates are everything that is wrong with modern dating.

Katy says she feels like a coffee date is the easy way for a guy.

And indicates to her that he didn't invest a lot of time in planning the date.

So Katy added, quote,

a coffee at lunch is like a job interview lining dates up like potential employees.

And allowing half an hour to assess whether someone fits your dating

standards.

So ladies, this is what a lot of people do nowadays.

Do you think single ladies should dine or

dash with the guy who asks them out to get coffee on a first date?

>> No, she said he hasn't invest anything, girl, he don't know you.

>> Exactly.

>> Like what do you want?

>> [APPLAUSE] >> Like I just don't get how we put so

many limitations these days on what is acceptable for a first date.

What's not acceptable for a first date.

A lot of people actually date people that are in similar circles as them, so

they've gotten to know them.

They've hung out with them a few times and they'll be like, yo, dude,

I like that one girl.

And then you go on a date with her, but you've met her before.

You can't expect for someone to invest in you, when they don't even know you.

>> Yeah. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> Give them a chance, have some coffee,

see if there's a connection there.

For instance, if he only met you on Match or has seen your photo on social media.

At least give an opportunity for coffee, which is very simple, it's short and

it's not a big investment.

Which it shouldn't be on the very first date.

>> Yeah, I totally agree with you.

I think today, as you notice, isn't your time getting really harder and

harder- >> As you get older.

>> To spend quality time, yes, you want to spend time with your family,

with people you know and love.

So nowadays, I think 30 minutes is like the new 30 day trial.

>> Right. >> You know what I'm talking about?

Like when you signed up for Netflix, or you signed up for your Uber account or

something, like they give you a 30 day free trial.

>> Yes.

>> And let you just test drive it, if I like you enough,

then I will renew you after the 30 minutes.

>> [LAUGH] I heard that, Jeannie.

>> [APPLAUSE] >> Right?

>> I love that perspective.

>> Yes. >> What?

>> You've got to test drive it.

>> I like, I think that not only, I think we look at it wrong.

I think that we look at the guy, but what about me?

Maybe I don't want to invest all my time with you.

So I think that it is good to do coffee, first of all,

especially if your online dating, you date a lot.

>> So meals can get expensive, drinks can get expensive.

So I think that the coffee, first of all, if he ain't paying for my coffee,

then you know he ain't going to pay for dinner.

And that's already your test.

>> [APPLAUSE] >> [LAUGH]

>> I see Tam's face over there.

>> I know.

I guess, honestly I didn't date a lot, as you guys know.

So to me, when I go on a date, it is a big deal for me, and I can't,

this is just me, I can't drink coffee after like 12 PM.

>> My God. >> I get really, really anxious and

I can't sleep at night, I'm serious.

>> You know you could get tea, right?

>> I know, but still, when I think coffee, I think of a coffee date.

And then when I think of a coffee date, I think of,

the atmosphere is really, really loud.

>> That's the best place, so you can be a fool!

>> I really want to focus on my date, and really see if it's going to go somewhere.

And I like a little alcohol.

>> Yes!

>> So on my first date- >> No one said you can't put a little

woo-hoo in that coffee.

>> Exactly.

>> I know, but I also like the atmosphere of a restaurant, I like the candles,

I guess I'm just a huge romantic.

Are Coffee Dates Bad? - Part 2 - Duration: 2:45.

Have you been in a situation where you sit down with a brother.

And then 30 minutes in, you're like, my God,

I've still got to get through the whole meal?

>> No, see that's the thing, because I didn't really date a lot.

>> I think it's a different type of date than what you're talking about.

>> Yeah, a meet up.

>> Right. >> I think we're talking about an initial

like- >> Right.

>> Meeting each other for the first time.

>> Okay. >> Right.

>> This young woman seems to expect that

he should have planned an entire day for

her. >> Right.

>> A car to pick her up,

something a little bit more elaborate.

>> Yes. >> Right.

>> Which I guess she would feel would be

like a bigger investment on taking her on a date.

And I'm like, girl, one more time,

he don't know you.

>> Right. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> Online, it's different now,

Tam. >> Yeah.

>> Because of technology and online and

people are meeting online or people meet like maybe for a minute,

you know what I mean? It's like,

you just want to test the waters. >> She's not wrong, though.

>> No, you're not wrong.

>> She's not wrong about the date.

>> The intentionality is what you're

talking about, the intentionality to actually spend time.

>> Yes, because it takes a lot,

it takes a lot to get a first date with me though, it does, it takes a lot.

>> It takes a lot?

What's it take, babe,

what's it take? >> Loni.

>> I'm going to bring up another point

though about the reason why I like meeting, if it's a first time online date,

I like to see them sober, okay? And so-

>> That is true.

>> Sometimes alcohol will cloud your

judgement. >> That's true, man.

>> And it's safe in the daytime,

there's other people there. >> Yeah, so, it's like, if you're online,

I just like for women to be safe. >> For meeting for

the first time. >> Right.

>> For meeting for the first time.

Now granted, if you work with someone,

there are a lot of people that get together in work

environments. >> Right.

>> Like, they've seen each other around.

Obviously, again,

one more time, you know that person. >> Yeah.

>> Right.

>> And now, this is just your first

date. >> Yes,

and- >> Different.

>> If the coffee goes well, you could always extend it.

You could always say, the third date trial has rolled out, now-

>> You could go for dinner, yeah,

you could get desert.

>> I have literally have gone for a coffee, to somewhere like where we go for

lunch sometimes.

>> Yes, yes.

>> Go to a cute cafe, and actually very romantic and whimsical.

You order the coffee that has the pretty hearts in it and

they draw those things with the you know.

And you go there and you enjoy yourself.

And I literally know people that got married from a first initial meeting

that way.

>> Well, everything's possible.

>> And actually, we did email each other back and forth for like a month.

>> Yeah. >> Before going?

>> Yeah.

>> So, you knew each other.

>> Yes, after a while.

>> You see, I like that old school way of dating.

I actually like the long, what we used to do back in our day before texting,

we talked for hours on the phone.

Do you remember talking to your high school school crush?

>> Yes. >> Those were the days.

>> And then they would write you letters from college.

>> Yes. >> Those things should not go to waste.

>> Yes. >> They can still happen today.

>> [APPLAUSE] >> Absolutely.

>> Agreed. >> Absolutely.

>> Well those were the good old days, but

now we've got different ways of dating now.

So just be careful out there, ladies and gentlemen, all right?

Coffee With Mike - If God can raise Jesus from the dead - Duration: 1:28.

This Easter as we celebrate

Jesus' death and resurrection,

we celebrate an event that has

the power to change lives

This power is demonstrated

by the way the lives of Jesus' deciples

were totally transformed by the empty tomb

When Jesus was arrested

His followers ran and hid out of fear

After His crucifixion

they were depressed, defeated, and terrified

hiding behind locked doors

but they were radically transformed

by the miracle of that first Easter morning

They became the leadership of the early church

publically proclaiming the message of Jesus

at the risk to their lives

You see, not only does Jesus' empty tomb

proove the truthfullness of the christian faith,

it also demonstrates its power

In His ressurection,

Jesus forever defeated sin and death

breaking the power of sin and death

over all who believe in Him

Let me put it this way,

if God has the power to raise

Jesus Christ from the dead,

then what problem might you have

that's too much for Him

What crisis do you face

that He's unable to deal with

What sin do you struggle with

that He's unable to give you victory over

This Easter I pray that you will not only

know the story of Jesus' resurrection

I pray that you'll know the power

and that you will let Him transform your life
