We were digging at Malcolm X's house,
right in front of the back door to the
house, and we found an entire intact
record, which doesn't happen very
frequently. We don't usually do this to
artifacts, but I actually took this one
home to play it really quickly, just to
see what was on it, and it ended up being
1959 American folk songs. So I put it
on and it was Yankee Doodle, and I
thought it was hilarious.
We later found out that every record
actually has a serial number scratched
into it, and so you can just Google that
and this entire record is online,
already uploaded to YouTube, so you
can listen to the record. This is about
to go on exhibit at the Dillaway Thomas
House in Roxbury permanently as part of
the Malcolm X collection out there.
