Hi, I'm Kyle Jackson, I'm the CEO and Co-founder of TaleSpin.
At TaleSpin, we're working on bringing together domain expertise from computer vision,

"Satan is waiting," said Tom, a white-haired man holding a Miller Lite at a South Boston bar on Tuesday. "That's all I've got to say."
He was responding to news of the death of the infamous Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, found unresponsive at a West Virginia federal prison on Tuesday morning.
Bulger, 89, was killed in US Penitentiary Hazelton hours after being transferred from a prison in Florida, according to a statement from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. His cause of death has not been released, but is being investigated as a homicide.
Two inmates are under investigation over the attack, including 51 year-old Fotios "Freddy" Geas, 51, a mafia hitman already serving a life sentence for murder, according to the Boston Globe.
Bulger was the Irish-American mob boss of the Winter Hill gang from the 1970s to the 1990s. A jury found him guilty of participating in 11 of 19 murders for which he faced charges in 1995. South Boston, or Southie as it is also known, is where Bulger established operations out of a liquor store.
In 1975, Bulger became an informant for John Connolly Jr, an FBI agent who was indicted in 1999 and convicted of racketeering, second-degree murder, and obstruction of justice from his relationship with Bulger and the Winter Hill gang.
In 1994, Connolly told Bulger that sealed indictments from the Department of Justice had come and that the FBI was set to arrest him around Christmas. Bulger fled.
He spent 16 years on the run as one of the 10 most wanted men in America, with a $2m reward on his head.
Bulger was captured in June 2011 living with his girlfriend Catherine Greig in a Santa Monica, California, apartment along with over $800,000 in cash and 30 firearms.
His 2013 trial in federal court ended with a sentence of two terms of life imprisonment for 11 murders, including the killing of Michael Donahue, who prosecutors said had been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Bulger called his trial "a sham", and wrote letters to friends and family professing his innocence.
On Monday, Donahue's widow, Patricia, told a local news station that she would like to "open up a champagne bottle and celebrate" Bulger's death.
"I think that there's one less scumbag on this earth," she told WBZ-TV. "That's how I feel."
But in Southie, there were mixed feelings over the gangster's death.
Bartender Kim Lynch said she was surprised to hear Bulger had died. "We thought he had been confined and that he couldn't go out into the general prison population." Lynch said. "A lot of people are sad, but a lot of people, like the victims, will be really happy."
On the other side of the bar, 28-year-Southie resident Mike Fagan said, "It's terrible to kill an 89-year-old man. No matter what he did."
The aesthetic of the neighborhood may be changing, with high rents and hipster coffee shops, but the tenor has not. Questions about Bulger and his time in the neighborhood were largely met with tight-lipped silence, with many residents refusing to give interviews or be named fully.
One man told the Guardian: "Whitey never forgot his Irish roots. He supported the struggle for the Irish faith against the British." He added, "I'm not gonna give you my name, but here's a tip. Look up 'Valhalla'."
The man was of course referencing Bulger's attempted weapons shipments to the Irish Republican Army in the 1980s.
"It's definitely a strange day," said John Shea. Shea, 53, is a former associate of Bulger's who was involved in his narcotics operations. He was indicted on cocaine trafficking charges in 1990 and served 12 years in prison.
There is no doubt in his mind that Bulger was murdered. "I predicted that if he was put in population anywhere, they're not gonna put up with a guy who is an informant." Bulger had been kept separate from the general prison population until this week throughout his incarceration.
Shea met Bulger when he was only 15. "He was like a father figure to me. I worked with him for a few years." He said that he tried to not have harsh feelings about Bulger, but that it was "a good day, and a sad day". Shea never accepted a plea deal to testify against his associates.
"We were taught to accept our lumps and mumps. It's a tight-knit neighborhood. You don't rat." Shea wrote the New York Times bestselling book, Rat Bastards; The Story of South Boston's Most Honorable Irish Mobster, about his experience in the Winter Hill gang.
Shea said he believes either mob connections or another inmate who "wants to be considered a legend and make a name for themselves", committed the murder.
The US attorney's office for the north district of West Virginia and the FBI will conduct an investigation into Bulger's death, according to US attorney William J Powell's office.

that my marriage was, you know,
kind of on life support and likely going to be ending,
I thought about finances a ton.

I got married really young, I got married at 21.
I didn't know myself very well,
I had not lived much life
and I also didn't know the guy I was marrying that well.
- I ended up starting a career in magazine publishing.
I worked for Rolling Stone, Us Weekly,
and Men's Journal for ten years.
I was commuting three hours a day door-to-door
and I was the breadwinner.
It was excellent until we had our son.
When he was eight months old
we decided it would be time for me to stop working
and maybe find something closer to home
and spend some time with the kids.
- I went from zero to four kids in four years.
So in the years after building our family,
I think I was just consumed with motherhood.
- We had what I thought was a great relationship.
We never fought.
We were always really kind to each other.
I was totally shocked.
- I never in a million years thought I'd be sitting here
as a mom of four, divorced.
- The number one thing that I hear people say is
I wish I'd come in here sooner to have this conversation
because I don't feel like
I made the best decision for myself.
- My husband and I rarely talked about finances
because it was never an issue to worry about.
At this point, I don't even know
what bills are paid out every month.
And that to me is so eye-opening
because how could I not know
what we were paying for electric
or for gas or for taxes and things like that
but I literally had no clue.
- I regret that I didn't have more ownership.
I regret that I wasn't paying attention.
You never know if you're going to be married forever
and I lived financially as if I would be.
- As you're thinking about your financial future,
you want to make sure that you're building
a good team for yourself.
- I didn't seek out any help
and in retrospect, I wish I had.
For someone to guide me, to say,
here's what you should do in life,
regardless of whether you're married or not,
here's how to protect yourself.
- If I had a friend in my position
or who I thought may be headed for divorce,
I would say, take an active role.
Ask questions if you're not involved.
Ask your husband or your partner,
What are we doing every month?
What do we spend every month?
I should have been submitting money to a 401(K),
I should have been saving,
I should have planned better for the future.
- I had to be really savvy in preparing
and then figuring out what I was going to do moving forward
and I feel really fortunate that I took the time
before I had my kids to have a degree
to have a career that I could fall back into.
Because here's the thing -
you don't want to be planning all of that stuff
in the midst of that life upheaval and a crisis.
You want to plan that stuff when things are okay.
And then, if the bottom falls out, you have a path.
- No woman should ever feel afraid
of achieving financial independence.
I'm looking forward to kind of crossing the threshold.
It's scary right now on this side of it,
but I think once I pull the pin,
and I start taking over the finances on my own,
it won't be as scary any more.
- You know, through the divorce,
it forced me to learn about my own business.
It has had me looking at my own future
and how I'm saving for retirement.
I know that I can do it on my own.
I know I can support myself.
I know that I can take care
of four kids competently as a single mom.
I know I can do it, I'm doing it.
- There's no reason why a woman can't emerge
from this situation stronger and more confident.

I've never wanted to wind up poor
and I never wanted to see my daughter poor,
so I always thought about money.
And when I saw a large part of our income,
may be walking away,
I started saving our own just in case.
- Having an assessment of the current financial situation
is really important as you go into a divorce,
particularly as it relates to splitting assets
and projecting future income needs.
- When he left, I knew exactly where our finances were.
We didn't hire a divorce lawyer
because we went about it very friendly.
We had a divorce mediator
and we already had a list of finances,
all of our assets, all of our debts,
what we agreed on when we walked into her office.
She said it was the easiest divorce
she had ever done.
- It's important to know that retirement assets
like an IRA or a 401(k) are always in one person's name only
and always tied specifically to one social security number.
Oftentimes one spouse will look
at the pure dollar value of an investment
without understanding the benefits
of certain tax implications
and withdraw options from those accounts.
- I had a sense of what our assets were
and I knew they were being handled,
I didn't know whose name they were in.
And they were in my ex's.
And so, in order to shift them to mine,
there's tax penalties
and all kinds of issues there.
The splitting up of our assets
during the divorce process,
I think it went as peaceful as it could be
but it was still really contentious.
- I bought this house because you told me
you were going to love me forever
and if you leave me,
I'm gonna lose this house
and this is the house that my grandfather bought in 1959,
this is the house my dad was raised in.
I had Christmas dinner in that kitchen
for my entire life and if you leave me,
I'm gonna lose this house
and you're gonna destroy everything my family's fought for
for 50 years.
And he signed on the dotted line.
- Some of the things looking back,
I've learned that I needed to let go.
If I had let go, I would have been
in a better position.
- While keeping costs low should be a priority,
having a fair and equitable outcome
should be the number one.
- Five years from now
what you're thinking of right now at this moment,
it's gonna be totally different,
so don't fight over the coffee table,
don't fight over the CDs,
it's not going to matter.
Everything that you do it's gotta be for your kiddo.
- When I walked away from my divorce,
I walked away in one piece because I had help.
My mediator helped me,
I was fair, I was transparent with my ex,
I gave him no reason to fight me
and it made a big difference.

Chloé est triste que sa fille Judith parte à Los Angeles et Alex tente de la rassurer en lui parlant de Skype.
Alex avoue qu'il est terrifié à l'idée que Judith parte mais il faut lui laisser vivre sa vie.
Bilel redit à Leila qu'il est prêt à lui pardonner si elle arrête tout avec Samuel. Bilel pense que le bonheur familial doit passer avant tout.
Leila se confie à Samuel sur ses doutes, elle se demande si elle doit ré-essayer avec Bilel.

Leila a donné rendez vous à Noor et Soraya au Spoon pour discuter. Elle s'excuse pour les dernières semaines car elle a été maladroite.

or how large, that when things go south
you can get up and say you know what?
The food on my table doesn't depend on you
and I can walk out that door and I'll be okay.
- I'm focused right now on, as a freelancer,
trying to get as much income as I can,
as much steady income as I can.
- I was able to take my daughter to South Africa
to fulfill her dream of cage diving
with great white sharks.
I took her to Romania for Mother's Day last year
and that's all because of what I've been able to do
with my lifestyle blog.
- I know that I can do it on my own.
It's hard, I'm tired
but my confidence as a mom
and as an independent woman
is really high and I hope that my kids are seeing that too.
- I basically want to inspire people
to get the joy out of life.
Whether it be cooking dinner with your daughter
or going to the beach
and spending a day reading the book
you wanted to read for the past 10 years
and never found the time.
- Don't buy the shoes, don't buy the purse,
you don't need it.
You really don't need it.
Be more aware of where your money is going
and get a financial adviser.
But it's important to put one foot in front of the other
and know that everything's going to be okay.
You have to have faith.
If you don't see the staircase, take that first step.
You'll be there, you'll get there,
it'll be okay.
It's terrifying but you'll get there.

finally meet you in person.
- I'm kind of honored here because Zack is the first person
we interviewed on vidIQ when you cracked a million views
and we did a case study and
a lot of people found that useful.
So if we now jump forward 18 months,
how is your channel progressed since then?
- It's been good, it's had its ups and downs,
I've been able to really turn and make that things you
missed series into my number one series on the channel,
so I've been cranking out a lot of those lately,
there's been a lot of activity
in the horror community to cover,
so I've had a lot of content to make videos on.
So last month has been doing really well for me.
- So the first video you did was a 25 things you missed,
well you did a few before that but the breakthrough one.
- That was the first one to really break through.
- And so how did you follow on from that,
what were the next videos you made in that series,
and then what was the type of reception
and views that you got from them?
- So I did things that I missed
and people really responded well to that,
because I featured people's comments
and people stuck around to see, like,
if their comment was gonna be in the video,
and I think it was just a fun way
to interact with the audience.
So that's like my most viewed video
on the channel right now, today.
So that was a big success, and then when subsequent trailers
came out and then of course when the movie came out,
I did things you missed for those as well,
and once the hype for IT started to die down,
I still kept on it, I did the al dente Creepy Pasta,
the scary stories on my channel,
so I did a clown, it's called Creepy Clown School Lockdown
and that's like, I think my most successful narration story,
so I did that one and I just recently
put out a sequel to that, Creepy Clown School Lockdown Two.
So I think a lot of people are interested
in creepy clowns when they come to the channel,
I'm kind of serving that, and I think a lot of people
are interested in the things you missed approach
to movie analysis and I've definitely stayed
on that grind as well.
- That was kind of gonna be the next question,
that you found the success with the concept of
things you missed, and it's attached
to horror movies initially,
have you ever thought of actually pivoting
your entire channel to this concept of things you missed,
or would it be taking you too far
from what you're passionate about?
- No I don't think it takes me away
from what I'm passionate about,
I mean I have tilted it in a sense where
about 50% of my videos are things you missed videos
and I've been able to keep it in line
with my film making passions by making
short films in the things you missed.
For example, I did a collaboration with CrypTV recently,
I did a things you missed in their series
look see things you missed in their series sunny family cult
and in the look see one, I made a little short film
as if I was running from the look see
and I had to get these things you missed out
to survive, so every now and then
I'll turn them in to little shorts.
And then I mentioned my series al dente creepy pasta
and a lot of times what I'll try to do is
the topics that I write about in al dente creepy pasta
will be somewhat related to the topics
that are popular in the horror movie world,
so I'll do, if I do the things you missed in IT,
then I can turn and do my al dente
creepy pasta with creepy clowns.
- Would you say now that you've become somewhat
of an authority in the horror genre
and now people are approaching you for collaborations?
How do you feel you are as an
established YouTuber in that genre?
- I don't know that I would say
that I'm an authority in the genre,
but I think one thing that people have come to know me for
is I've come to kind of organize the community a little bit,
so we've actually done some in person meet ups
with different horror channels in the Los Angeles area.
One thing that I've just always tried
to do is keep in touch with people.
I did a stream for a while, the dead stream,
where I would have different horror creators
on to just talk with them, hang out,
I did that with Mortis Media and Lady White Rabbit
who are other horror narrators in the community.
So yeah, I try to collaborate with as many people as I can,
and if I can help out other horror creators
then it's gonna help out the community
as a whole, which I love to see.

In fact, when I think of conference calls,
I think about padded shoulders and 1980s office attire--

Imagine a solution that could modernize record
keeping by employing the latest AI guided recognition
technologies.
Let me paint a picture for you.
If you introduce an AI powered bot with facial and speaker
recognition tools, typical meeting activities
like recording comments and generating minutes
could be fully automated, capturing ideas and discussion
topics.
Intel senior staff researcher Jonathan Wang and Julio Zamora
came up with something that is just like that.
Combining their expertise, one in facial recognition
and the other in voice and speech recognition,
they developed a conference oriented multi-modal system
for reidentifying participants.
The system creates its own database
over the course of a video conference,
enrolling new users automatically and learning
on the fly how to recognize individuals
using a combination of speaker recognition
and facial recognition.
Jonathan and Julio took advantage of several Intel
technologies, the Intel Movidius vision processing unit, Intel
RealSense technology, and the eight microphone circular array
included in the Intel Speech Enabling Developer Kit.
These are, quote, "the perfect components
for this type of application because all you need
is good eyes, good ears, and an efficient brain.
Our algorithms are the glue that takes
advantage of these components to generate a complete solution."

At the moment, software is conquering the world.
We are moving toward a hyperconnected paradigm
in which information, data and software
can be found anywhere.
For instance, the concept of the smart city means that
we have a lot of devices,
and software can be in any of them.
And now software is going to be self-managed.
What does this mean?
Software will decide for itself what to do
and how to do it, when to send information, etc.
Without our help.
And this new paradigm creates opportunities
for our businesses.
They will be able to develop products
that couldn't be developed until now,
and they will be able to offer services
that couldn't be offered until now.
As you can see, our job isn't that simple.
We must understand, develop and maintain
many lines of code.
A line of code is an order we give to the processor.
The more orders we give,
the more complex and the bigger the software will be,
and the harder it will be to develop it and maintain it.
We are in contact with millions of lines of code every day.
For example, an elevator now has
half a million lines of code,
a car has 15 million, etc.
and they all have to be maintained.
To give you a better idea of what this means,
all Google services (Gmail, Google Maps, etc.)
have 2 billion lines of code.
If we printed all of them,
they would take up 36 million sheets of paper,
and if we piled them up, they would be 3.6 km high,
as tall as Mount Teide.
It seems as if our profession doesn't appeal much
to young people, and even less to women.
We're talking about a job without unemployment,
and the most important thing is that
our graduates have the opportunity to work in any area
of knowledge.
Making cars and elevators, or creating applications
for different sectors.
This is the biggest challenge for our businesses
to promote competitiveness:
to attract women and young people
to software engineering.

RESTORATION of a 1930´s Coffee Grinder – Part 1 of 2 - Duration: 21:53.
Hi, I'm Thomas, welcome to Pilot´s Workshop.
When a friend of mine recently bought an old farmhouse, he found an ancient coffee grinder rotting away in a corner of the attic.
Since he wanted to have a coffee grinder anyways, he decided to keep it, cleaned it from the worse dirt and took it home.
When I first saw it, I begged him to let me restore it for him and he eventually said yes.
This project took me several months of doing bits and pieces here and there
with a lot of research and decisions that had to be made at every turn and that took some thinking in between.
I wanted to keep the restoration the least invasive that I could,
trying to replace only what I absolutely had to and staying true to its original form.
At the same time I wanted to make it work as if it was new again.
Those two ideas don't really work well together.
Especially in a project that held this many surprises being more decayed than visible at first glance.
But I'll try to explain every step I took on the way.
So let's begin by taking it apart.
After taking it apart the first thing I did was to resharpen the grinding mechanism.
Since I wanted to make it grind coffee again, I first wanted to see if I could bring back functionality in those crucial parts.
Both these parts are hardened and actually held up very well with only small signs of wear.
The inner grinding cone could be resharpened straight forward with a thin cutting blade.
For the outer cone, I bought some triangular grinding stones,
the smallest ones I could find in coarse, medium and fine
and carefully worked on those teeth as well.
A first test showed promising results.
So I continued working my way around.
But since I wouldn't be able to test my results until the entire machine was finished
I put the resharpened grinding cones away and began working on the wooden body of the grinder.
I carefully took off the badge to not damage it and also safe and later reuse the tiny nails holding it.
The bottom board was split and bent.
I first cleaned it a bit with a soft brass wire brush to see what exactly was going on.
What's already obvious here is the small piece of broken edge, but more on that later.
I noticed that there are two small nails hidden in the crack of the board which made me believe that the board
first started bending and maybe cracking,
probably due to moisture getting in from below.
The previous owner then might have put in the small nails to counter that effect, but who knows.
Anyways, the next step was to carefully remove what was left of the bottom.
Like I stated in the beginning I was determined to save as much as possible from the grinder.
So I cleaned the crack surfaces and saw that they would fit together quite nicely
and would leave an interesting glue line when joined together like this.
Now, let's take a look at the spot where a small portion of the edge is broken off.
I decided to patch it in the same glue up.
The original wood is beech. So I made a fitting piece from the same type of wood.
And since I would mix up the glue anyways
I also used the chance to repair a cracked corner in the top board of the grinder.
Epoxy is perfect for this kind of situation.
Because it goes into the wood fibers
Creating a strong bond while also having great physical strength on its own when filling large gaps.
The glue up went straight forward.
To repair the cracked corner
I simply squeezed it back together in the vise and left it there for a day to let the glue fully set and harden.
One thing that is already visible at this point are the many holes from wood worms.
I already tried to fill some of them with epoxy but the real surprise there is still to come.
And since I wouldn't reuse the nail holes in the bottom I also filled those with glue.
After the epoxy had enough time to set the most time-consuming work of this project began:
Sanding until I reached solid wood and the contact surfaces are flat.
All
kinds
of
sanding.
Aand there came the surprise that I spoke about.
The good news were that there were no more traces of a wood worm living in the coffee grinder.
The bad news were that the entire bottom board mainly consisted of wormholes.
The main box had a similar problem but much less and mainly in the bottom area.
I smoothed over the inside area just a little bit to take off some of the roughness.
After the contact areas were all flat and didn't show any more gaps I continued sanding the rest of the surfaces.
My main goal was to once again create sharp lines defining the details and edges of the box.
For this edge I used a small wood turning gouge that just had the perfect radius.
Then it was time to finish the small a.k.a. dutchman.
After the main box was finally done the contrast to the small drawer shows the difference of before and after.
So I took care of the drawer.
A closer inspection revealed that it also had some problems:
The finger joints started opening up,
One corner of the bottom was already "fixed" with two nails
and the rest was really not holding on anymore.
So I had to do something
Because of the time the coffee grinder was made in I was quite certain that it was
assembled with classic bone or skin glue which meant that I could easily loosen them with some mild heat.
And that's exactly how it was.
Because classic natural glues can be worked on in that fashion
restorers love them and no force has to be applied in a repair like this.
Unlike nails.Nails are always a pain to remove.
After cleaning out all glue residue I smoothed up all parts of the drawer.
I noticed that the bottom plate was bent in multiple ways.
Probably also as a result of some moisture.
Since this would make the glue up very difficult
I flattened it by first steaming it and then immediately pressing it in my vise.
I left it in there for a couple of days to dry and relax in its new shape.
After that it was flat again and I glued the drawer back together.
And because I wanted to be true to the original methods. I wanted to use natural glue as well.
In my research I stumbled across a fish glue from Canada that can be applied without heating up just like regular yellow or white glue.
So I bought and used that and the next time the coffee grinder needs a makeover. It can be worked on in the same way
By simply applying some heat.
And all glue residue was simply sanded off later.
Much better.
This is where we´re going to leave the box for now to work on the bean chamber.
This piece is made out of three parts from incredibly thin sheet metal.
For protection and aesthetics it received a nickel plating, which gave it a chrome-like look.
But the nickel layer of this grinder is heavily damaged and has many holes where corrosion worked its way into the base metal.
Cleaning off the nickel layer unveiled two more surprises:
Firstly the pot is not made out of one type of metal,
but the bottom and top from steel and the main body from brass.
And secondly that brass body being severely cracked all around.
Those cracks had already been visible through the nickel plating
But I thought they were only that; cracks in the plating.
Because I had to assume that this kind of damage would only spread when the grinder gets used in the future
I had to do something.
So I prepared a strip of 0.3 millimeter brass that by the way was significantly thicker than the base metal.
And my idea was to solder it in place from the inside of the chamber.
When I did a test fit I precision-marked where I needed to shorten it and cut it a precise length.
I made the strip slim enough so that it would sit in the only area that was relatively flat.
I then took off the rest of the outside nickel plating, prepared both parts with flux,
Clamped down the ends of the brass strip and started soldering.
After that the pot looked a bit worse than before but was structurally sound again.
Excess solder was cleaned off and sharp edges taken off on the outside.
With this crucial step out of the way
I took on the more time-consuming work of cleaning the rest of the metal parts of this coffee grinder.
So it first took off the crank handle.
Its axle was riveted to the crank. So I cut off the mushroomed part and took it out.
The handle was still in surprisingly good shape, at least compared to the rest of the grinder...
This is the mechanism that allows adjusting of the fineness of the grind.
The screw pushes a small plate against the bottom of the inner rotating grinder
into the fixed outer grinder. The tip of the thread was a bit mushroomed over.
So to not damage anything I first fixed that before taking it out.
The small spring is there to create some tension to prevent the mechanism from unscrewing itself.
The tiny knob of the drawer was stuck to its screw.
Since it was too long and sticking out to the inside of the drawer anyways, I didn't need to be careful and hammered it loose.
The tiny knob was also in good shape but covered in a thick layer of something.
Then began the endless grinding to clean all parts from decades of rust and coffee stains.
Because I would fix the handle with a screw instead of a rivet I then cut the smallest possible thread into the existing hole.
Which was a standard six millimeter thread. (M6)
An interesting and concerning detail is that the grinder only had one bearing point
that of course was completely worn off. And it was steel and steel.
I wanted to improve this the best way I could without changing too much of any of the existing elements.
So I opened up the hole of the steel bushing from around 9 to 10 millimeters,
so that it could receive a new and replaceable brass bushing, that I made on the lathe.
I left the bushing quite a bit too long to give it more length to run on, reducing forces and in return making it last longer.
Okay, the video is already getting way too long
But I still want to show you one of my favorite little details.
When I cleaned up the cap nut that covers the top of the main shaft
I discovered a knurling pattern under the thick layer of rust and dirt.
This was a very happy surprise since I first thought that it was a rather plain nut.
However, the pattern had gotten quite weak from the probably years of corroding in that attic.
I made the decision to preserve it by deepening it a tiny bit.
This was a very easy and enjoyable task to do with a small hand file
and I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

and maybe even some actual coffee grinding.
