What do you worship?

Well, hello brothers and sisters!! Welcome to Mission: Zer0! My name is Shawn,

and this is Flashback Friday, the show where we take stories from the past and

apply them to the present to create a better future.

What I want to talk about today

is, sort of, the struggles that we go through, and how we can have a better connectivity to people

Let me give you the biblical verse, and then I'll give you the story.

So the biblical verse is Philippians 4:8 in which the Apostle Paul writes,

"Finally, brethren: whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, if there be any praise,

think on these things." The Apostle Paul was not one to use flowery language or to

mince words; every word he ever used had a purpose.

So what do these words mean, and why to those people?

OK, so the reason that this matters is that these people -- this church in Philippi -- was founded

in the midst of, like, all kinds of idol worship. So -- true, honest, just, pure, lovely,

and good report -- these are the dysfunctions that we go through and

the things that we need to watch out for. That's what Paul is telling the Philippians.

OK, so let's start off with the first two: what's true and what's honest.

Things that are true, right, this is Paul saying "concern yourself with what's actually true,

not what you believe to be true." And that's a subtle difference, right?

They believed that because Paul was in prison the gospel had stopped

and he's saying "No, no, don't get yourself all wrapped up in those ideas! That's not real.

You're believers, you know the truth of God: this gospel will spread."

What's honest? He's saying "be honest with yourselves" and this goes in a couple

of different directions, but what he's saying is "No, don't get into these vain

imaginings; don't puff yourself up to think that you are so awesome, that you

alone are the one who can carry the gospel. But he's also saying "Don't fall

so far down that you are constantly circling the barrel, sure that you're going to be wiped out.

What's just? He's saying "Man, don't concern yourself with obsessing about

the things that aren't right, right? The fact that I'm under house arrest."

What he's saying is "No, think about the things that are going right: you've been saved!

You've been justified by grace through faith!" What's pure? Man, there's ONE thing

that's pure, and it's the love of God towards His children, and so what he's saying is

"Don't get caught in the pit of hatred, and segregation, and tearing people apart."

What's lovely? Focus on the beauty! Don't look at the ugliness of the world,

don't look at the fact that Christians are being persecuted, look at the fact

that there is still sun, and there is still rain, and there is still beauty in

nature, and in the world, and in the Christ, and in Love, and in fellowship.

And so then "good report" and "if there's any virtue, if there's any praise" then what he--

if there's value in a thing, if there is positivity in a thing, then think about that.

Don't obsess about what goes wrong and what we fail in. And, man,

I -- for one -- am HORRIBLE at that, and I think a lot of us are. We get lost in

our failures, and we get lost in our struggles, and we don't see the brighter

side of things. And this is what Paul is telling this church, is, "Yeah, I know!

I'm in prison! I've gone through a lot of stuff! I've been poor, I've been rich.

I've been beaten, I've been free, and what I know through all of it is: the purity of Jesus,

the love of God, and the connectivity among people sustained me

through all of it." That is what we need to seize on that's what we really have

to focus on, and that's why, this week, I've really been trying to grab this

idea of life to talk about is: getting myself straight and back on the path of

worshiping life.

So there's my exhortation for us today, and for into this weekend: we've got to

be able to let go of the negative, right? Take the pieces that are important to

learn from, and that you can use to grow from, and build yourself up.

But just dispense with the rest! Focus on this life -- on the things that are good -- not who accused whom

of what, or -- you know -- who's been voted into what office, or -- you know -- what this

TV show did. We get all of this nonsense that we get SO riled up about, and so

angry and hateful over. Let that go! If it is a thing that can be helpful to you to

grow, or helpful to other people to grow, think on THOSE things, and let the rest go.

So, there we go. I Love you, and may God pour out the

blessings of Heaven upon you, and may you be the you-iest you you can possibly be,

and hang in there, because I'm with you, and I am FOR you, and I Love you!

Peace out!

VLOG | How to Get Organized + What's In My Backpack - Duration: 6:41.

Hey, guys! Welcome back to Temple University's YouTube channel. My name is

Olivia, and I'm Temple University's student vlogger. Today I wanna share with

you ways that you can get organized and also when I store it in my backpack. Now

that we're falling into the swing of things in the first semester, it's really

important to stay organized and stay on track of all the things that you want to

get accomplished. I know as a college student, sometimes that can be really

difficult, so today I want to share with you how I stay organized and some tips

that you can implement into your daily routine. So, first things first,

my biggest tip probably for staying organized is keep some form of planner

or planning system. This can be a physical planner, like the one that I use, or it

can be one online, or there's so many apps out there, as well, that you can use.

College can definitely be stressful if you have a lot of assignments to do, but,

if you stay on top things and know when everything is due, it kind of takes a

little bit of the stress away. Often times at the beginning of semester, a professor

will give you your syllabus, and it will have your dates of when your major

assignments are and projects ... When your midterm is and your final is ... So, as soon

as you know those dates, you can write it down in your calendar, so you know when you

need to study for it. When you schedule out your assignments in a planner or an

online calendar, it makes you more aware of what you need to get done, and then it

allows you to delegate your time to do schoolwork, but also fun things, like

going out with your friends, or going to a football game. My second tip in

staying organized is: identify your priorities. So, know what's important to you.

and what is top of the list. and know what's not as important to you. If you know

what you want to spend your time on, and you have an intention of what you want

to spend your time on, you're more likely to do what you need to get done. Be

specific with yourself and real with yourself of what you think a realistic

goal for yourself is for the semester. Third tip and staying organized is: make

sure you're aware of your time management skills.

I know sometimes at college, it's really tempting to take a nap or two when you

really should be studying. I know I'm guilty of this. If you find yourself spending your

time on things that aren't necessarily the most productive, set yourself a timer.

Go on the clock app on your phone, set yourself a timer and tell yourself, you

know, I'm only going to spend a half an hour on social media / TV, or whatever it

is that distracts you. The fourth tip in getting organized is: clean up your space.

A messy room can sometimes equal a messy mind, so if you have a clear, nice clean

desk, you're probably more likely to want to, like, sit there and study, than if it

had a bunch of junk on it, so, just clean it up, and then you'll be more likely to

want to do your work there. So, my next tip for getting organized is:

do things ahead of time. If you do things ahead of time, not saying that I always

do this. I should do this. Note to self: Olivia. It really decreases

your stress levels and makes you not as anxious about the things that

you need to do. Another organizational tip for your school year is: you should

have a designated place for you do school work. So, that could be a desk in

your room, or even the library. Just having a place where you feel

comfortable studying in and you know where you are productive is really

important. Another tip for staying organized is: get your stuff together for

the next day the night beforehand. Getting all your stuff together in your

backpack the night beforehand makes the morning so less stressful because you

know everything is all together. You don't have to look for anything in case

you misplaced it, and, that way, you can like spend a little

bit more time sleeping or eating breakfast or having a

coffee, yeah. So, now I want to show you what I

normally keep in my backpack, and what I get together the night before. So, the

first thing I have in my backpack is my planner. This is how I mainly keep

my life organized. In here is where I write down everything that's important.

So, upcoming assignments, tests, due dates, things that I need to get done for work,

to do's—anything, you know, it goes in here. The next thing I have in my backpack is

a textbook, because, you know I am at college here to get an education. I'm

undecided in business, and this is a macroeconomics textbook. So the next thing

that I have in my backpack is a little notebook, so I can write down notes and

all those kind of fun things, and stay on top of my schoolwork.

Or some little notepad, so this is just a little to-do list, and then this is also

just a little notepad where I write down, I have video ideas or things that are not

school-related, so, just my thoughts. Recently it's been pretty rainy here in

Philadelphia, so, I have an umbrella. For days when it's not raining, I have a pair

of sunglasses, and then I also have my regular glasses so that I can see the

board. Next thing I have my backpack, is my vlogging camera, so I can, you know, the

vlog whenever I feel the need, if there's anything fun going on campus, I can just

whip it out, like, you know, capture the moment. Next thing I have my my backpack is a

external hard drive. I use this when I'm editing videos to back up the video

files. Next thing I have my backpack are some tissues, just in this case my nose is running ...

Also carry pens and highlighters in my backpack to help me taking notes. I

kind of flip-flop. Sometimes I take notes on a paper, especially like in math

courses, where I need to draw up graphs, but, in other cases, I use my laptop to

take notes, so this is my laptop, and the last thing I have is my laptop charger,

you know, just in case my laptop loses battery. It's good to always be

prepared and be able to charge your laptop so you can use it. So that's

everything that I store in my backpack, um, and everything that I use to help me

stay organized. I've had this backpack for a couple

years, now. I've had to sew it back up but, you know, it still does the job, so, that's

what I keep in there. Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope some the

organizational tips will help you stay organized for this upcoming school year

and hope you enjoyed seeing what I carry in my backpack. Make sure to give this

video a thumbs up and subscribe to Temple University's YouTube channel, so

you can stay updated on all the upcoming college vlogs. Thank you so much for

watching. I hope you're having an amazing start to your fall semester and, Go, Owls!

How to Get AMAZING Grades in MOROCCO - Part 2 of 3 - Duration: 3:14.

Hello Morocco! Can you guess where I am? If you said England, you'd be wrong.

I'm in Casablanca here at SIST British University and we're talking about how

you can Get Amazing Grades, so if you're a student and you'd like to see better

results, we've got seven tips that will help you get the grades your parents

have been dreaming of, so stick around. We're going to be doing this video as a

series, so if you've missed the previous episodes look for the links in the description.

Number three is Stay Healthy at School. Your brain is contained in a physical

body, so you've got to take care of your health in order for your brain to work

well. You need to drink water so you can stay hydrated, you need to control your

coffee and cigarette consumption because you don't want nicotine or caffeine to

affect your ability to concentrate. You also need to make sure you're eating

healthy snacks regularly, rather than eating chips, cookies, cakes...things that

will spike your blood sugar and then come crashing down right afterwards.

And you don't want to be skipping any meals. If you find yourself starving in the

class right before lunch, then your body is running low on energy and that's

going to hinder your ability to concentrate and learn anything. Better to eat a

healthy snack in the break before that class so your brain is fuelled up and

working at maximum capacity. Number four is Get to Know the Teacher

Can you see the value in building a relationship with the person who will

write and mark all your exams and assignments? Take the time to chat with

the teacher before and after class. Ask questions during the lecture, and be sure

to arrive on time. Getting to know the teacher could lead to more gracious

marking, and definitely some more information about how to do well on your

assignments and prepare for the exams. People tend to help those that they know and like,

so make sure your professors know and like you.

Number five is Take Notes in Class. This will help you pay attention, it'll help

you follow the lecture, and better understand what the teacher is saying.

Your notes will also help you remember the class and give you something to

review in order to prepare for assignments or exams. Now make sure you

don't just write down word-for-word what the teacher is saying - that's considered

passive learning. You'll get a lot more out of school if you're an active

learner, so write down notes of the key ideas in your own words and how you can

apply them or use them in your life. Alright that was this week's edition of

Weekend Wisdom in our series for students How to Get Amazing Grades. If

you know somebody else who could use a little academic advice, be sure to share

the link with them. We've got new videos coming out every single week, so

subscribe to Maroc Treasure, and until next time, Get Wisdom
