Why do we downsize? Declutter? Live in a small apartment and do a budget?
We do it
to have a simpler everyday life, and we do it so we can travel and have lots of
adventures as a family.
This time we're exploring Ebeltoft, a cute town on Djursland
a Danish peninsula known for its charming villages, hilly landscape, and
beautiful base. Our tiny 15-feet camber is our home base and my dad is joining
us on this summer adventure.
We just enjoyed our breakfast with this awesome view.
It's fantastic. I don't think I'll ever get tired of that. We're heading to
Mols Bjerge which is Mols mountains but it's really just hills. It's formed by
glaciers and I cannot wait to explore it and show you guys. I've been there before
and it's beautiful. So let's head out!
This area is called Trehøje and it's kind of the highlight in my opinion of Mols Bjerge
because you have these three big hills and they were actually used as burial
sites they were probably high naturally but they just made even higher.
This whole area is very hilly and that's because it was all covered by a huge
glacier back in the Ice Age
We haven't done a lot of hiking with Max and this is actually just a very short
little hike but we're playing fetch with him to get him to go in the right
direction.
When the glacier melted it left behind some big chunks of ice that
broke off and this is an ice hole is what they call it so a big chunk of ice
was right here so it got covered by dirt and then that was just kind of cutting
its way through landscape making this big ravine down here. Ice is so powerful
So steep!
We finish the hike and we're all alive but that was hot. It's warm today.
It's 27 degrees I believe right now. Very warm
We're heading back to the campground and hopefully we're gonna jump in the pool
This campground has so many amenities. It has the laundry, it has the places
where you can wash your dishes, it has huge shower rooms, and I actually took a
shower this morning and I was really surprised how warm the water was and
then I noticed afterwards that on top of the whole roof they have something that
looks like it's like heated by the Sun so I think that there are pipes running
through everything up on the roof and that's what keeps it warm because the
pressure was just pouring down and it was really warm. So that is amazing for a
campground. In Europe it's very normal that you don't shower in your camping car
because they're so small and they don't have tanks and all that stuff like in
the US so you basically have a cassette toilet and then usually use the
facilities at the campground so it's very important for campgrounds to have
good facilities to keep people coming back and this one definitely has that.
They even have a doggy spa.
What better way to end the day than with a swim. The ocean is right there and the bay
so I'm gonna take full advantage and my dad's gonna join me. It's 8 o'clock but
it's actually quite a lot of people on the beach still. Denmark is quite far up
north so the Sun doesn't go down till 10 o'clock and it's still super bright and
it's a little past 8. One has to take advantage of it but it's gonna be cold.
It's not that warm even though it looks amazing.
We've packed up the camper. We did get
this time we really like staying at that campground it was right next to the city
and it was awesome. We took our bikes, we took our cars, and we walked there and
all three things are totally doable. We mainly explored Ebeltoft and Mols Bjerge
but there are so many things to see on the Djursland but if you're interested at
all in taking a vacation in Denmark then consider going to Djursland. It is
beautiful out there. There's so many things to do with the kids.
There are actually three different animal parks. So they have Ree safari park, they have Scandinavian park,
then they have the aquarium so three of those and then they
have Scandinavia's longest roller coaster in Djurs sommerland. And they have
castles and all kinds of stuff. There's so much to do.
One note that actually surprised me was that when we were out eating at night there
were so many restaurants and really, really good quality ones we went to "Mellem Jyder"
That was really good and then the small restaurant down by Fregatten Jylland.
They served a really really awesome
brunch it's not the cheapest but it's really good, and then we went to Jack's
burgers on the main walking pedestrian street and that was really good as well
and very affordable. That's my wrap-up for this trip and
we'll see you guys next time. Bye!
