Hi, I'm Dr. Derrick Johnson, and I wanted to talk to you a little bit today about TMJ.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, and so that is this part of your anatomy.

It's basically your jaw joint hinge.

Sometimes you'll hear the term TMD, which is temporomandibular dysfunction or disorder.

But anyway, that's the topic today, and it's actually a pretty big topic, and the reason

I say that is this is the most used joint in your body, and if you look at, basically,

what does your head do, it only one mechanical function.

It opens and closes and moves the jaw.

So, all of your ... the major muscles of your head actually tie into movement of this joint.

And I want to show you, this is a piece of software.

It's really helpful.

It's called BiteFX.

But, as far as illustrating how the jaw works, what we have here ... Here's the actual joint

itself, and here's all the muscles that come together to move the jaw.

And what we want in health, we want this system to be in harmony and coordinated, and what

that means is when this joint fits with the disc, there's a disc in place, when the joint

fits, all the teeth fit, and your nervous system and the muscles, they like that when

things fit.

I'll often use the analogy of a door.

A door's another hinged system.

So, here's a door that, it fits very well, so it's very effortless to open and close

this door.

Hardly any effort, but you could imagine if that door was off the hinge, and imagine if

I had to open it every single time, it would take a lot of energy and a lot of muscle activity.

So basically, when this jaw joint is off the hinge, and it's not lining up with the teeth,

your body does this self-protective response, just like opening the door off the hinge.

The muscles are all tense all the time trying to coordinate the jaw joint.

And the problem with that is it can cause a lot of damage.

It can cause sore muscles, it can cause headaches, it can cause actual damage and deterioration

of the joint, joint noises.

It can cause ear pain.

It very, very typically causes tooth wear, breaking of teeth, tooth loss, root canals.

There's so many things that can be traced back this system being out of whack or out

of order.

And so, that's the basic idea of how we treat this.

So, if you're suffering from headaches, clenching your teeth, a history of broken teeth, multiple

root canals, worn teeth.

Sometimes there is like a ringing in the ear or a fullness in the ear can be one of the

symptoms as well.

A lot of times there's neck pain associated, like neck and TMJ pain very much go hand in

hand.

A lot of times a history of a car accident or whiplash injuries almost always affect

the TMJ to some extent.

So, those are some ways that it shows up, but one of the first things that we want to

do is evaluate that system, and here we can take a look at it again.

We want to know when the joints are in place, are the teeth in alignment?

And another tool we use to figure that out is we have something called an articulator,

so we could actually build a replica of how your jaw works, and we can see okay, what

are your joints and teeth doing?

Are they in harmony?

Are they out of harmony?

We can start to see wear patterns on the teeth and kind of do the detective work to figure

out what's the root cause of the problem?

So essentially, what the fix is is there's techniques where we can get the system back

in harmony, and the sooner that we do that when there's signs of a problem, the sooner

that we can do it, the more effective, easier, less expensive the solutions are.

So anyway, that's a little bit about TMJ.

If you were late to any of these things, come see me and we can talk about it more in detail.

All right.

PINK HAIR IN 5 MINUTES? Korean color treatment - Duration: 10:19.

Hello, I am Carol! Welcome to Unbridled Buffalo YouTube channel

If you are wondering what happened to my hair the answer is...

I don't know

In this video I want to try a Korean color hair treatment live in front of camera

I bought this in Korea

As you can see on the box, it is pink

If you are with us longer you probably noticed that I dye my hair pink quite often

If you really wonder what happened to my hair - I have really no idea

I just bleached them a few days ago!

I won't tell you which product did I use

The story is quite funny though

They usually give conditioners to use after the color treatment

I got one and it was supposed to make my hair not to become yellow

And this is how my hair looks after using this conditioner

So right now my hair is grey with blonde roots

It is not yellow, indeed but suddenly everything is grey

And I really like this blonde color

I hope that this color treatment will work better on white hair though

The problem is, everything is written in Korean

I have no idea how to use this product YET

The only thing I understand is "5 minutes" written right here

But on the back you can read 5-10 minutes

But we always can use a translator!

Google Translate has a very cool option these days

You can take a picture of a text

The text you want to translate

I have a text already, let's read it

How to use:

After cleaning your hair, dry the towel

Okay

And put the right amount on your hair

We have to dry the towel after cleaning it and put the right amount of this towel on our hair

After waiting for 5-10 minutes rinse with warm water without any other treatment

Okay

Salt can be better expressed in bright hair

The hair treatment is not black coat

I understand that this should be the thing they always write on the boxes

That it looks better on bright hair than on dark one

I still have a chance!

It doesn't dry after the treatment

If...

It doesn't dry completely after the treatment! If it becomes wet, the clothes can be pigmented

Do not dry completely

If I understood well, hair should be wet

I'll come back in a second

I am back and my hair is wet

Or rather... Dried towel and a bright coat instead of dark one

And the right amount of towel on my hair

The color doesn't look that bad now

But it's not the thing right now!

Because it's time to test the Korean hair color treatment

Frankly speaking, I am a bit affraid

But... Whatever!

We can do it!

If it goes wrong... It'll disappear some day after cleaning my hair for a thousand times

The color is not permanent!

The box looks like this

Here they wrote "5 minutes"

And this thing is quite funny

Here we see blonde hair that looks like a demaged hay

This is exactly what I have on my head

And this is the effect!

Your hair will look like this after you use this treatment

What's really interesting about it?

I still can see blonde on this picture!

I am a bit afraid

According to those picture after using this treatment, my hair should look like a smooth pink sheet

This product will give you a luxury color and soft, shiny, vibrant hair

Just like I said before:

This product will make my hair soft and shiny

As always

They say it's easy to use

And...

The same thing once again - my hair will shine after using this product!

I cannot wait any longer

I really can't wait

I've been waiting for to long to try this

There is a tube inside

A tube with 50ml of color treatment

It looks like this

Of course, there is no instruction because everything is written on the back

So this is a tube with a color cream

And also the gloves

It fell out

Gloves are just gloves

They always look the same

I always have a problem with the amount of color cream I should use

One tube is definitely not enough

Two tubes are also not enough

So I should buy three but it's too much

And this time I have only 50ml

I really hope it'll be enough

My hair is dry here, I have to do something with it

I really hope it'll be enough

God!

Now you can see how funny it looks

This part is blonde and this is... I have no idea what

But

I didn't want to buy more

Because I didn't know if it'll be good for me

If it won't damage my hair

And the color won't be weird

So I bought just one

And I'll be hoping it's enough

I have no idea what to expect

My towel wants to run away, as you can see

It wasn't the right amount of towel, I guess

Dried towel

This is my hair-coloring towel

You can see it easily

This is the color of the cream

I am shocked right now

It smells SO GOOD

It smells like FRUITS!

I wanna know why didn't I buy it earlier

I hope it'll work perfectly for my hair

And that my hair will smell like...

It smells like...

Raspberries?

Yes, raspberries

How good is that?

Okay

ATTENTION

It's not going to be easy

I know it won't be easy

But I can do it, can't I?

Oh my God

It won't be enough

I can already see it won't be enough

I have to go out today!

I have two highlights

and it's not enough already!

I'll do it

There is no other option

I have to do it

Okay, it'll be fine

I'll do it this way

Maybe it's a phenomenon

It's a life phenomenon

To be honest, 1/3 of the tube is gone already

And my hair looks like this

One day I decided to dye my hair pink

And it looked good

I'm gonna look very weird in this video

It won't be... OH GOD

It's gonna be purple, you'll see

It won't be pink. Only the blond parts will be pink

And the rest will be... Strange

But I have an emergency kit for a situations like this

I have another pink color treatment if it's not enough

It's becoming difficult

50 ml is not... THAT LITTLE

Okay, here...

I'll do it like this

So I won't look like...

Dunno

I was wrong

Jin's Epiphany is on my mind

Maybe it's a sign

That I should love myself the way I am

Instead of...

Doing...

THERE IS NOTHING IN HERE

It was the most stupid idea in my entire life

There is nothing here...

I have to do something

It's so complicated, you know?

I feel like this cream gets dry in one second

I just found out that I still have more of this cream!

STILL

I'll manage to do it

I think I'll spend next 24 hours on washing my hair

If the color will look like it does right now

Come on...

COME ON

I have to do it economically

What happened to my girl?

What happened?

What happened to my dog?

Ayayayayay

Don't come now

I'll be back in 3 minutes, wait

I've been waiting to record this video for a long time

And now I doubt

And I am a bit afraid of the effect

But...

You only live once

You have to try new things in your life

And my new thing is a Korean hair treatment

It smells beautifully

I don't know how it'll look

Really

Dunno

But I'll know in 2 minutes

My hair after washing them with warm water...

It looks like... Attention, please!

Like this

And this is the final effect!

In this place I am taking back everything I said about this color cream

All of my doubts

If it's enough, if it'll work good on my hair, if the color is good and so on

I am in love!

I still can see some blond parts

But not as many as I've been expecting to see

If I take into consideration the amount of color cream

This part is blonde, for example

And this part is blonde, too

But it schmeared somehow

Especially while I was washing it

They wrote that we should use ONLY water

Not to use any shampoos or conditioners

I totally agree with it!

And I also agree with the picture

My hair is soft

I wouldn't say that the condition of my hair is perfect, not yet

But something changed

And I really like it

I always have troubles with brushing my hair after coloring them

This time it is not tangled at all

It was easy to brush them

It looks amazing

Even after drying my hair

My hair always look horrible after using the hair dryer

This was me testing a Korean color treatment

Let me know if you like the color

And what you think about this type of color treatment

Because it's just a cream which smells like raspberries

And it's pink

And it takes only 5 minutes

For using it for 5 minutes... I am totally in love

I recommend this product

I think I'm gonna buy more when I go to Korea next time

Maybe other colors

I really like this one!

Fairfax Chiropractor Uses Virtual Reality for Whiplash Treatment - Duration: 1:30.

Hello everyone my name is Josue one of

the rehab specialist here at Sport and Spine Rehab

and we have a patient today that was in a car accident and I'm gonna

run her through what we call a VR physio

which is virtual reality. And in a few seconds it's gonna guide her

rotating to the right. She wants to stay within the bubbles

go as far as she came without

pain and she's gonna come back to the center

and then she's gonna rotate to

the left as far as she can without pain

what I'm looking for here is minimal movement

or no movement of the upper body of her thoracic and her shoulders

coming back and then it's gonna take her

into extension so as she looks up

I'm also making sure she's not going into thoracic extension just all cervical

any pain with that? Nope. Ok

and then this one's the most challenging for people do you have any pain with that?

It's tight but no pain. Tight but no pain that's good.

so this is her second time testing this out that range

of motion before was a lot more painful for her

with the exercise we've done here it's helped her increase that range

of motion and that data has been saved

so when she takes off the VR I show her the results comparing what her range of

motion was initially and where she's at now

and how the exercises that we have

had her do here have helped

Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence - Duration: 2:59.

We have a couple of common medications that are used to treat opioid dependence, both

methadone and buprenorphine, it's often a combination product, buprenorphine/naloxone.

So essentially there's these couple of products that are available and there's been lots and

lots of research with these products over many many years showing that they are the

most effective way to treat opioid dependence.

These medications either methadone given as a liquid or buprenorphine/naloxone often taken

sub-lingually, so either a tablet or just a film that goes under the tongue.

These medications are long acting medications, so you only need to take them once a day with

methadone or even once every couple of days with buprenorphine.

And when you take those medications, it reduces those feelings, or usually gets rid of those

feelings of craving, and thinking about other opioids, and also those physical symptoms

of opioid withdrawal, so a person feels well in themselves.

And they don't have those constant thoughts about opioids.

Particularly around the time that people were having a lot of problems with over-the-counter

codeine, there were a number of people that I spoke with through my research and they

would spend, you know, many hours of the day, every day, going to multiple pharmacies to

acquire codeine, and they'd never heard of this treatment, buprenorphine, and so when

they finally started on it they had you know, a bit of hesitation and they had their first

couple of doses and then, there was this realisation that, "I had this one dose of medication,

once a day in a pharmacy, and I feel fine for the rest of the day."

And I guess all of the problems and the worry about running out of medication, the worry

about feeling sick, the overwhelming feeling that people expressed to me was just one of

relief.

That there is a treatment and that it works.

And you know, now they feel great and they can't believe it took so long to try these

medications.

But I can understand that there's a bit of apprehension about this new treatment that

maybe people have never heard of, so I think part of the importance is getting the message

out there that there are treatments that work.

What people tend to say that they feel when they take these medications is that they feel

normal.

So these medications, while they are still in the family of opioid medicines, because

they're such long-acting and sort of slow-release opioids, they don't tend to have people feeling

euphoria or the term 'high', so that's not something that you feel on these medications,

so people just feel normal, they're not experiencing opioid withdrawal anymore, and they're able

to get on with their lives.

Dr. Pete Williams Discusses Gallstone Prevention & Treatment - Duration: 1:01.

>>Healthy Hampton Roads is sponsored by Bon Secours.

>>We're talking about preventing and treating gallstones with Dr. Charles Williams, also

known as Dr. Pete, from Bon Secours Surgical Specialists.

Thanks for joining us today.

>>Thank you for having me.

>>So I know you have said that people who may think they just have gas or reflux may

be dealing with gallstones.

What should they do?

>>Yes, that's correct.

So the first thing they should do is see their primary doctor, make an appointment.

And then at that point, stop eating fatty and greasy foods and see if you notice a change.

Once you see your doctor, your doctor's likely to order an ultrasound and possibly a HIDA scan

which help to determine if they are gallstones or problems with the gallbladder.

>>All right.

And if they are gallstones, a simple surgery could take care of it, but again, prevention

is the key.

You may take a look at your diet everybody to be healthier and avoid those gallstones.

But if you can't, Dr. Pete can help you out.

If you'd like more information about this, you can certainly find much more at bonsecours.com.

Treatment options benzodiazepines - Duration: 2:01.

Benzodiazepines, particularly if people have been taking them for months or years, can

be a little bit tricky to stop.

And so, again, really important to talk to a health professional.

Some of the best evidence we have around the approaches to stopping benzodiazepines suggest

that reducing the dose very slowly, over a long period of time.

So we're not talking about a week, sometimes we're talking about a month to years.

And if you've been taking a medication for many years then that's understandable, it

might take a while for the body to get used to not taking those medications.

The other thing to often consider is, when those medications are being taken, so for

example, if you've been taking your medication for anxiety, or because you have difficulty

sleeping, sometimes the original cause of those things is still in your life, and until

you've got some strategies to manage that, to manage what to do when I feel stressed

if I'm not going to take a benzodiazepine, it can be difficult to reduce the medication

and that's why often the combination of both reducing the medication, but also getting

some psychological treatment, developing very specific strategies for, 'what do I do when

I'm feeling like this?

What's some other things that I can do other than take this medication?'

In general, we really discourage against just stopping cold turkey with benzos, and it doesn't

matter if it's a high dose or a low dose, because either way it will increase the risk

of difficult withdrawal symptoms.

But of particular concern is people who are on high doses and who have been on high doses

for longer periods of time, there is an increased risk for seizures if they stop cold turkey.

So that's something we really need people to be aware of, and to manage that, it might be

necessary that they go into an in-patient facility to manage the high dose to begin

with.

Even at low doses, stopping cold turkey is really going to increase the risk of withdrawal

symptoms full-stop.

Treatment options for opioid dependence - Duration: 1:57.

If you have concerns about the medications you're on and wondering about stopping, there

are a few suggestions I would make.

It's good to get some background information about that, and then having done that, it's

a matter of having a conversation with your prescriber and asking them about what

they think would be the most appropriate way, which can be individualised to you, to stop

that medication.

Our team usually talk about the main treatment being opioid deprescribing if the main underlying

problem is pain, that's because of the scientific evidence pointing to the fact that these drugs

are not effective or safe long-term treatments for pain.

The treatment of opioid dependence is more often, at least for a time, is maintenance therapy.

So that's a conversation really with your prescriber about what is the main problem that is being

dealt with here.

There's a range of different strategies, we have medication-based strategies, and that

can be either in the short-term, so people can have medications for maybe a week, or

ten days or a couple of weeks to reduce off,

or often they might consider taking medications for a longer period

of time, and that's going to depend on the person and what's going to work for them.

Also, at the same time, considering things like psychological treatments, and that might

be in the context of learning other strategies to manage your pain, or strategies to manage

when you feel opioid cravings, or when you're feeling distressed.

So having those things at the same time combined with the medications can often be the most effective

approach.

There are lots of ways that we can help, but you need to go and ask for that help.

Go and talk to your health professional and get the process started.

Secret Treatment for Male Pattern Baldness Revealed - Duration: 8:13.

Hi there

In this short video. I'm going to share with you the secrets of one of the most cost-effective solutions to premature balding

I'm going to to tell you where to get it

How I came to discover it and how to use it

Now I don't sell this product. I'm not being paid for producing this video and I'm deriving no income from this at all

I just want to be clear on that I

I was in the shower this morning listening to a podcast about a guy who made a multi-million dollar business

Using an Instagram to promote an anti hair loss product that he heard about

It reminded me of the late great cricketer

Martin Crowe. I vaguely knew him because we lived close together as teenagers

We were only early on nodding terms

Not helped by the fact that he lived in a cul-de-sac where he and his brother and some other guys including one of my best

Mate's younger brother used to play cricket in the middle of a road just down from their home.

So my mate and I had restored a

1957 I think it was Mark One Zephyr

It was a convertible and we loved racing down the dead-end street as if we were going to crash into them

while they were playing cricket, just short of them and stopped just short of their wicket

We didn't do it too often because we were scared of their parents and

potentially the police turning up, but it appealed to our teenage sense of humor

We were all teenagers, right?

Now I can relate to the male balding pattern because while at the age of 17 I could sit on my hair

I was already showing

signs of a receding hairline

Hogan, or Martin Crowe as most people knew him, was following on from his brother, who like me started receding at quite a young age and

he wanted to stop this progression, and keep his youthful good looks

He therefore took on a hair transplant

and was it success and being one of the greatest cricketers of all time

he became an influencer for that treatment and

he was often seen on TV in a different role from scoring runs all over the world.

Sadly a few years ago, he lost his hair again. This time due to cancer.

I raised this for two reasons

Firstly with the greatest of respect,

because he went through some terrible times before he sadly passed away.

I can't share the photo of

him because I'm sure it's copyright

but if you google his name Martin Crowe and look at the images, I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

As someone who's in remission from cancer myself

I tried some of the same treatments that he was trying because people said it must be good if he's using them!

Otherwise it wouldn't be trying them right? He was an intelligent man

An example of a treatment that failed both of us and tasted horrible was frozen glop made from sea cucumber.

It cost me around

$400 a month

One of the reasons I bought it was because he was using it.

It was the same reason why I bought a water bed back in the late 80's because Richard Hadlee, another great cricketer recommended them.

Maybe I've got a thing about cricket players as influencers

The point here isn't cancer.

It's the fact that he looked great when he lost his hair from the cancer treatment. In my humble opinion

he would have been just as manly with no hair as he did after the hair transplant

His head shaped suited being bald

So it occurred to me that I'd found the perfect solution

It doesn't cost thousands of dollars as some of the treatments do. Although it does require daily application

It doesn't even cost hundreds of dollars

in fact

You can have a perfectly looking head for under the price of a cup of coffee a week, or maybe even a little less.

Now I'm not here to sell you anything

I'm not being sponsored by any product brand. I just thought you might be interested in this miracle solution that I discovered.

I learned a couple of Secrets that I'm going to share with you today from a top international representative

multiple black belt karate

sportsmen and another person who was a very successful hairdresser. He said he really didn't want to tell me a secret

that could cost his industry a lot of money

I'm being serious here

That's what he said to me. It's exactly what he said.

So what is this amazing product that I'm going to reveal to you that I learned about from a highly successful

karate sensei?

So I guess you're wondering what this amazing product is and how I went from here

to here

To here and finally to here. Well, you're about to find out

So

What is this amazing product that you can

Use to have a fantastic head

For less than the cost of a flat white a week?

Well, I guess I have to tell you

It's one of these. A razor blade.

All it takes is one of these daily and you can have a shiny chrome dome

You can barely see any evidence of hairline receding so people won't know if you're balding or just trendy

What's the secret of how to use it that the top hair dresser didn't want you to know?

Lots of people go to a hairdresser to have their head shaved and this could cost them a lot of customers

well

Beside washing your head with soap and covering it in shaving foam

It's about how you hold the razor blade, because if you hold it incorrectly

you're likely to have nasty cuts on the head and you're not going to be able to hide those unless you wear a cap.

I'm not hiding in here, by the way, because I know how to do it

The thing he showed me is

how to follow the natural direction of the grain

that your hair grows in

When I had hair it used to grow backwards. That way.

I guess because I brushed it that way and because the weight of my long hair in my early years

probably made the follicles lean in that direction

So this is how I hold the blade and how to do it

So the first thing is when you shave, quite often you might hold your blade down there. That's a handle, right?

That's what it's for. But the trick that he showed me was you hold it like that, so you've actually

got your fingers right against the back of the blade and you go like so

and in this case as I said

I'm following the grain at my head. That allows you really good control of the blade and you're not likely to cut yourself

So that's how I hold the blade and how I do it

I'm not hiding my head because of

the baldness. I'm quite happy being bald and everyone knows me that way it's simply it's still winter here in New Zealand and

my cap's keeping me warm and tonight

I'm hoping the Vodafone Warriors are going to go for another win, the New Zealand Warriors. And so I'm supporting them.

But it's actually just slightly too warm to wear my Warriors jacket, which I'll be wearing later. That's a totally different story. So

The secrets are revealed

Post no money

Just give it a try

If you don't like it, it'll only take a year or so and you have a good set of hair again

Besides your receding hairline

might be a little bit more pronounced because you're a year older, but

At least you'll know what you look like. If you're bald, if you're lucky you might just look 10 years younger!

Thank you. Enjoy the rest of the day and

Leave me a comment. Tell me how it went

ciao. If you hadn't figured it out, this is my bad sense of humor as I develop skills of talking to the camera.

Recognising and seeking treatment for benzodiazepine dependence - Duration: 1:43.

If you're worried about your medication and that you might have developed dependence,

there's a couple of things.

Firstly, when you take medications every day for a long period of time, your body does

get used to them, and if you stop them suddenly, you often will experience withdrawal symptoms.

For that reason we don't recommend to just stop your medications suddenly without talking

to a health care professional.

It can either make you feel just pretty unwell, or sometimes there can be risks with sudden

cessation of medications like benzodiazepines.

So the first thing to do if you're concerned, is talk to a health care professional and

develop a plan to gradually reduce those medications.

As you can imagine, if the first symptoms that people experience when they start to

reduce their dose are actually intensifying of their initial problem, that's a reason

why many people actually believe that they still need the medication, and will continue

on taking it or potentially even increase their dose to try and alleviate those symptoms.

So it's really essential that before people attempt to start reducing, that they have

adequate support in place, and they know what to expect.

Because they are going to have to tolerate some periods of discomfort, but it really

shouldn't be too uncomfortable if it is a very gradual reduction.

Where the reduction is too rapid, or where people stop cold turkey, that's where we start

to see higher risk and the really problematic symptoms start to emerge.

So if people are on high doses, and stop cold turkey, they could actually have seizures.

Does Botox Work to Treat TMD? - Dr. Vicky Ho - Duration: 2:12.

Hi, I'm Dr. Vicki from Smile Design Studio.

A lot of my patients who suffer from pain

ask me are Botox injections helpful for treatment of pain.

And yes initially, if it is a muscle tension caused pain.

Then Botox work extremely well, but only in the short term.

Basically what Botox is is a botulism toxin

and what it does it actually paralyzes the muscles

temporarily, it reduces the activity, reduces the tension

and therefore reducing pain and activity.

So if say that getting a lot of pain from clenching their jaws

at night having facial muscle pains

or if they're getting temporal headaches

you can actually put Botox into these areas

and it will almost deaden the muscle down

and actually calm everything down.

So it's a very quick, short term and effective

immediate treatment.

But if those muscles are extremely tense

they'll need a really high dose because these are big muscles,

and they're big movements.

They're not like wrinkle relaxers you need a big dose.

So it makes it rather expensive to do

on a regular basis and ongoing.

And also, you know I like to treat things

very holistically and very naturally

and long term use of it is not really been tested.

So I am actually more on the side

of trying to treat the cause and stopping the problem

from coming up rather than symptomatic treatment, which

Botox is ultimately, it needs to be repeated between three

and six monthly and it becomes rather expensive.

But is effective for real quick short term pain relief.
