Ka'iulani Forbes is only three and a half years old
and the infant is fighting a rare form of cancer.
Ka'iulani Forbes and whanau are currently overseas
hoping to get treatment that'll cost over a quarter of million dollars.
But as Te Okiwa McLean reports,
the cause has been helped by a marathon effort
by a media celebrity.
Hitting the road to raise funds for Ka'iulani.
Dom Harvey has taken up the challenge
to run five marathons this week to fundraise money
for Ka'iulani Forbes
who is fighting Neuroblastoma cancer.
Ka'iulani and her parents are currently in Barcelona
seeking the treatment which costs $260k to combat the cancer.
They've done all they can, to the point of selling their house.
The marathon is 42km long.
Ka'iulani's whanau have set up an aid station
for those running the marathon.
Her first cousins are wishing her all the best.
Dom is a marathon runner and this week has ran a marathon
in Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington.
He says it's been a real challenge.
All funds will be donated to Ka'iulani and her family.
They will stay in Barcelona
for her to undergo treatment for six months
until she is back up on her feet.

What Causes TMJ (or TMD)? And Treatments for Pain Relief From TMJ Dentist (Arkansas) - Duration: 4:32.
Hi, I'm Dr. Derrick Johnson, and I wanted to talk to you a little bit today about TMJ.
TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, and so that is this part of your anatomy.
It's basically your jaw joint hinge.
Sometimes you'll hear the term TMD, which is temporomandibular dysfunction or disorder.
But anyway, that's the topic today, and it's actually a pretty big topic, and the reason
I say that is this is the most used joint in your body, and if you look at, basically,
what does your head do, it only one mechanical function.
It opens and closes and moves the jaw.
So, all of your ... the major muscles of your head actually tie into movement of this joint.
And I want to show you, this is a piece of software.
It's really helpful.
It's called BiteFX.
But, as far as illustrating how the jaw works, what we have here ... Here's the actual joint
itself, and here's all the muscles that come together to move the jaw.
And what we want in health, we want this system to be in harmony and coordinated, and what
that means is when this joint fits with the disc, there's a disc in place, when the joint
fits, all the teeth fit, and your nervous system and the muscles, they like that when
things fit.
I'll often use the analogy of a door.
A door's another hinged system.
So, here's a door that, it fits very well, so it's very effortless to open and close
this door.
Hardly any effort, but you could imagine if that door was off the hinge, and imagine if
I had to open it every single time, it would take a lot of energy and a lot of muscle activity.
So basically, when this jaw joint is off the hinge, and it's not lining up with the teeth,
your body does this self-protective response, just like opening the door off the hinge.
The muscles are all tense all the time trying to coordinate the jaw joint.
And the problem with that is it can cause a lot of damage.
It can cause sore muscles, it can cause headaches, it can cause actual damage and deterioration
of the joint, joint noises.
It can cause ear pain.
It very, very typically causes tooth wear, breaking of teeth, tooth loss, root canals.
There's so many things that can be traced back this system being out of whack or out
of order.
And so, that's the basic idea of how we treat this.
So, if you're suffering from headaches, clenching your teeth, a history of broken teeth, multiple
root canals, worn teeth.
Sometimes there is like a ringing in the ear or a fullness in the ear can be one of the
symptoms as well.
A lot of times there's neck pain associated, like neck and TMJ pain very much go hand in
hand.
A lot of times a history of a car accident or whiplash injuries almost always affect
the TMJ to some extent.
So, those are some ways that it shows up, but one of the first things that we want to
do is evaluate that system, and here we can take a look at it again.
We want to know when the joints are in place, are the teeth in alignment?
And another tool we use to figure that out is we have something called an articulator,
so we could actually build a replica of how your jaw works, and we can see okay, what
are your joints and teeth doing?
Are they in harmony?
Are they out of harmony?
We can start to see wear patterns on the teeth and kind of do the detective work to figure
out what's the root cause of the problem?
So essentially, what the fix is is there's techniques where we can get the system back
in harmony, and the sooner that we do that when there's signs of a problem, the sooner
that we can do it, the more effective, easier, less expensive the solutions are.
So anyway, that's a little bit about TMJ.
If you were late to any of these things, come see me and we can talk about it more in detail.
All right.

Vanquish VS4-10 gets Traxxas treatment - Duration: 9:52.
All right, here's the Vanquish vs4-10
It has the castle Mamba X ESC with the castle
2850 kV Slate motor and
Today I just added instead of the stock tires that came with the kit
I put trx-4 stock tires on it. I had to drill out the center of the hub on the tires or the wheels
No big deal to me. I have extras to make them fit the hex nut. That has a little
Has a little collar on it
For the other hubs on the stock wheels
so umm
have this what's in this this is the reefs triple 5 servo and
I'm using Fly Sky hacked
Receiver with 8 channel or no. This isn't a channel. This is 3
So I think it does
Good
with
With the tires on it
You can tell me, you see here
Get my brake on. I do have the auxilary wire hooked up. So like now it has the brake I can take it off
So it doesn't have the break so
Which is a nice addition, so I think it does good though. Watch. I'll show you
I
Mean it's not a Trx-4
I just like the trx-4, I am a trx-4 guy but this does good just had to put some Trx-4 parts on it that's all
I'm sorry about the tripod, I don't have my other or uhh
Yeah, the camera, I don't know where my other tripod is
Just down here with my own big one. So
That's good, I swear to you it does good with this stuff on here
I just I like the I like the Chevy body on this truck. That's got me
Going about it definitely positive for me
Serious Oh Oh big big difference
Yeah with the um, I told you I did the shocks but I put stock shocks from the trx-4 on here
and umm
I think they just had the 30 weight oil in it. They're from the kit
And a big big difference big big difference I do not like those incision shocks
They come on to vanquish. I don't think they're good
my opinion
Not a fact I've been crawling for about a year now. I
Don't know jack. I'm not saying that's how it is
Set it back up over there about where it was
I do believe staying next to the tree. I think that's a good line. Then I can stay on this peak over here
Hey, you want your crawler to be good just put some TRX cool parts on (laugh)
Does so much better I just, the foams on the stock tires weren't good my opinion they were to firm
But problem there is is I've seen guys with them and it seemed like they crawl
But I couldn't do anything with the shocks, I don't know they didn't do anything
So, I think it does a lot better with the
I'm not saying TRX 4 but just some kind of good shock on it and some good tires
These tires aren't the best but they're good. They do good. They've
proven themselves in my book they they're nothing to
ignore as far as I, in my opinion
Oh, yeah vanquished, little bit of crawling
major
upgrade and performance
in my opinion
Major upgrade it goes ten times better
it just it handles everything ten times better than it what it did when I
Had the incision shocks on it and the stock tires and foams and rims and all that crap
That's it for me. I had to change the camera so I could look at it in the
Viewfinder because I was cutting off my head. It was like from here up. So it was the nose of the mouth saying
Ben with by Buy it Break it Fix it be good people and people would be good to you
I'm getting some more stuff added on here. Hopefully the crawling course will be coming soon a slide
Alright, thanks everybody for

Fairfax Chiropractor Uses Virtual Reality for Whiplash Treatment - Duration: 1:30.
Hello everyone my name is Josue one of
the rehab specialist here at Sport and Spine Rehab
and we have a patient today that was in a car accident and I'm gonna
run her through what we call a VR physio
which is virtual reality. And in a few seconds it's gonna guide her
rotating to the right. She wants to stay within the bubbles
go as far as she came without
pain and she's gonna come back to the center
and then she's gonna rotate to
the left as far as she can without pain
what I'm looking for here is minimal movement
or no movement of the upper body of her thoracic and her shoulders
coming back and then it's gonna take her
into extension so as she looks up
I'm also making sure she's not going into thoracic extension just all cervical
any pain with that? Nope. Ok
and then this one's the most challenging for people do you have any pain with that?
It's tight but no pain. Tight but no pain that's good.
so this is her second time testing this out that range
of motion before was a lot more painful for her
with the exercise we've done here it's helped her increase that range
of motion and that data has been saved
so when she takes off the VR I show her the results comparing what her range of
motion was initially and where she's at now
and how the exercises that we have
had her do here have helped

How Do We Treat TMJ? - Dr. Vicky Ho - Duration: 2:10.
Hi, I'm Dr. Vicky Ho from Smile Design Studio.
A lot of patients come to me for treatment of TMJ dysfunction.
Now these patients have tried usually
numerous different treatment modalities from chiropractic
to physiotherapy to medications like Endone and Endep
and they've been for you know brain scans and MRIs.
And nobody can usually find out
what is actually wrong with these people.
So sometimes they get sent for psychiatric evaluation as well.
And a lot of the time my clients have
had long term chronic pain.
So they're actually very depressed.
So there's a lot of things that come into this.
Now the problem is that a lot of the treatment that's out there
today actually just deals with the symptoms
you treat the symptoms.
And it's an ongoing thing because you don't get down
to the root cause.
So my interest in treatment of people was actually to treat the root cause.
What is causing the TMD to start with?
Why are people in pain?
You know do we just give them medication
to block out the pain or do we get down to the root cause.
So this is my goal.
This is my mission and what we do is with Neuromuscular
Dentistry we can get down to the root cause.
We use the nerve and the muscles we track the EMG's, we take
We track the jaw.
We use a neurotransmitter to show us
where the jaw needs to go and therefore where the teeth need
to be to line the jaw up.
So that everything lines up better.
And we get rid of the pain.
So that's a very brief overview of what
Neuromuscular Dentistry is.
If you want to find out a little bit more, please give us a call
come and have a chat and we will see how we can help you.

Secret Treatment for Male Pattern Baldness Revealed - Duration: 8:13.
Hi there
In this short video. I'm going to share with you the secrets of one of the most cost-effective solutions to premature balding
I'm going to to tell you where to get it
How I came to discover it and how to use it
Now I don't sell this product. I'm not being paid for producing this video and I'm deriving no income from this at all
I just want to be clear on that I
I was in the shower this morning listening to a podcast about a guy who made a multi-million dollar business
Using an Instagram to promote an anti hair loss product that he heard about
It reminded me of the late great cricketer
Martin Crowe. I vaguely knew him because we lived close together as teenagers
We were only early on nodding terms
Not helped by the fact that he lived in a cul-de-sac where he and his brother and some other guys including one of my best
Mate's younger brother used to play cricket in the middle of a road just down from their home.
So my mate and I had restored a
1957 I think it was Mark One Zephyr
It was a convertible and we loved racing down the dead-end street as if we were going to crash into them
while they were playing cricket, just short of them and stopped just short of their wicket
We didn't do it too often because we were scared of their parents and
potentially the police turning up, but it appealed to our teenage sense of humor
We were all teenagers, right?
Now I can relate to the male balding pattern because while at the age of 17 I could sit on my hair
I was already showing
signs of a receding hairline
Hogan, or Martin Crowe as most people knew him, was following on from his brother, who like me started receding at quite a young age and
he wanted to stop this progression, and keep his youthful good looks
He therefore took on a hair transplant
and was it success and being one of the greatest cricketers of all time
he became an influencer for that treatment and
he was often seen on TV in a different role from scoring runs all over the world.
Sadly a few years ago, he lost his hair again. This time due to cancer.
I raised this for two reasons
Firstly with the greatest of respect,
because he went through some terrible times before he sadly passed away.
I can't share the photo of
him because I'm sure it's copyright
but if you google his name Martin Crowe and look at the images, I'm sure you'll see what I mean.
As someone who's in remission from cancer myself
I tried some of the same treatments that he was trying because people said it must be good if he's using them!
Otherwise it wouldn't be trying them right? He was an intelligent man
An example of a treatment that failed both of us and tasted horrible was frozen glop made from sea cucumber.
It cost me around
$400 a month
One of the reasons I bought it was because he was using it.
It was the same reason why I bought a water bed back in the late 80's because Richard Hadlee, another great cricketer recommended them.
Maybe I've got a thing about cricket players as influencers
The point here isn't cancer.
It's the fact that he looked great when he lost his hair from the cancer treatment. In my humble opinion
he would have been just as manly with no hair as he did after the hair transplant
His head shaped suited being bald
So it occurred to me that I'd found the perfect solution
It doesn't cost thousands of dollars as some of the treatments do. Although it does require daily application
It doesn't even cost hundreds of dollars
in fact
You can have a perfectly looking head for under the price of a cup of coffee a week, or maybe even a little less.
Now I'm not here to sell you anything
I'm not being sponsored by any product brand. I just thought you might be interested in this miracle solution that I discovered.
I learned a couple of Secrets that I'm going to share with you today from a top international representative
multiple black belt karate
sportsmen and another person who was a very successful hairdresser. He said he really didn't want to tell me a secret
that could cost his industry a lot of money
I'm being serious here
That's what he said to me. It's exactly what he said.
So what is this amazing product that I'm going to reveal to you that I learned about from a highly successful
karate sensei?
So I guess you're wondering what this amazing product is and how I went from here
to here
To here and finally to here. Well, you're about to find out
So
What is this amazing product that you can
Use to have a fantastic head
For less than the cost of a flat white a week?
Well, I guess I have to tell you
It's one of these. A razor blade.
All it takes is one of these daily and you can have a shiny chrome dome
You can barely see any evidence of hairline receding so people won't know if you're balding or just trendy
What's the secret of how to use it that the top hair dresser didn't want you to know?
Lots of people go to a hairdresser to have their head shaved and this could cost them a lot of customers
well
Beside washing your head with soap and covering it in shaving foam
It's about how you hold the razor blade, because if you hold it incorrectly
you're likely to have nasty cuts on the head and you're not going to be able to hide those unless you wear a cap.
I'm not hiding in here, by the way, because I know how to do it
The thing he showed me is
how to follow the natural direction of the grain
that your hair grows in
When I had hair it used to grow backwards. That way.
I guess because I brushed it that way and because the weight of my long hair in my early years
probably made the follicles lean in that direction
So this is how I hold the blade and how to do it
So the first thing is when you shave, quite often you might hold your blade down there. That's a handle, right?
That's what it's for. But the trick that he showed me was you hold it like that, so you've actually
got your fingers right against the back of the blade and you go like so
and in this case as I said
I'm following the grain at my head. That allows you really good control of the blade and you're not likely to cut yourself
So that's how I hold the blade and how I do it
I'm not hiding my head because of
the baldness. I'm quite happy being bald and everyone knows me that way it's simply it's still winter here in New Zealand and
my cap's keeping me warm and tonight
I'm hoping the Vodafone Warriors are going to go for another win, the New Zealand Warriors. And so I'm supporting them.
But it's actually just slightly too warm to wear my Warriors jacket, which I'll be wearing later. That's a totally different story. So
The secrets are revealed
Post no money
Just give it a try
If you don't like it, it'll only take a year or so and you have a good set of hair again
Besides your receding hairline
might be a little bit more pronounced because you're a year older, but
At least you'll know what you look like. If you're bald, if you're lucky you might just look 10 years younger!
Thank you. Enjoy the rest of the day and
Leave me a comment. Tell me how it went
ciao. If you hadn't figured it out, this is my bad sense of humor as I develop skills of talking to the camera.

Does Botox Work to Treat TMD? - Dr. Vicky Ho - Duration: 2:12.
Hi, I'm Dr. Vicki from Smile Design Studio.
A lot of my patients who suffer from pain
ask me are Botox injections helpful for treatment of pain.
And yes initially, if it is a muscle tension caused pain.
Then Botox work extremely well, but only in the short term.
Basically what Botox is is a botulism toxin
and what it does it actually paralyzes the muscles
temporarily, it reduces the activity, reduces the tension
and therefore reducing pain and activity.
So if say that getting a lot of pain from clenching their jaws
at night having facial muscle pains
or if they're getting temporal headaches
you can actually put Botox into these areas
and it will almost deaden the muscle down
and actually calm everything down.
So it's a very quick, short term and effective
immediate treatment.
But if those muscles are extremely tense
they'll need a really high dose because these are big muscles,
and they're big movements.
They're not like wrinkle relaxers you need a big dose.
So it makes it rather expensive to do
on a regular basis and ongoing.
And also, you know I like to treat things
very holistically and very naturally
and long term use of it is not really been tested.
So I am actually more on the side
of trying to treat the cause and stopping the problem
from coming up rather than symptomatic treatment, which
Botox is ultimately, it needs to be repeated between three
and six monthly and it becomes rather expensive.
But is effective for real quick short term pain relief.
So if you want to find out more about Botox
or alternative treatments for pain, please give us a call
