Well good morning good morning again from Vienna (Wien).
It is a Monday morning and it is actually our last day in this beautiful city.
It is not even our last day.
It is our last hours.
Last hours.
We're going to be leaving in just a few hours to Bratislava but yeah.
Yeah, we thought we'd show you take you guys to a more local cafe.
We kind of showed you what a fancy and famous one looks like but we haven't taken you into
a local one so we're going to do that today.
Correction.
It is actually Sunday.
Haha.
We were wondering why it is so quiet.
How could it be so quiet it is like no one woke up to go to work today.
Haha.
Sunday guys.
So now the question is will our coffee shop be open on a Sunday?
Are you feeling confident?
I have no idea.
It is pretty quiet and the thing is like when we get the day wrong we are always researching
the hours for that day we were assuming it so we didn't check for Sunday at all.
I don't know.
It is going to be a surprise.
So we have made it to the cafe and thankfully it was open and it is a good thing because
I was feeling pretty hangry.
Like this is breakfast happening right here.
So the place is called Aida and it has been around since 1913 so my goodness over a 100
years.
I imagine they've had plenty of time to perfect their pastries, their coffees, their cakes.
So for my drink I got the Aida Melange so this is an espresso with steamed milk and
whipped cream that I have since you know mixed into the cup.
Exactly.
And I also ordered that too.
Haha.
Mmmm.
It just sounded so good.
Cream.
Yes, please.
Yes, please.
That is quite nice.
Oh, and have I mentioned everything here is pink.
Yep.
Everything.
Everything.
The menus.
The cakes.
The waitresses uniform.
The chairs.
It is all pink.
Everything looks pretty in pink over here.
Pretty in pink.
Haha.
Alright Sam.
Alright I'm going to try the coffee.
Sam the man.
The melange.
Mmmm.
How is that melange?
The melange is so good with like that cream and stuff.
It is for me I don't need to add sugar.
Yeah.
I need the sugar.
Because the espresso is pretty strong.
That is how good it is.
At least for my tastebuds.
The espresso is strong.
And so someone ordered the Schinkenröllen.
So this is really neat because it is basically like a ham slice and then inside of it, it
looks like it appears to be some cream cheese.
Yeah.
And some chives and then bread.
So I'm just going to take a bite like this and a bite of bread.
I have no idea how to eat it.
You're not going to spread it.
I guess I could but I'm not going to.
Mmmm.
Just love it all mixed in your mouth.
Mmmm.
That is the lazy way.
Mmmm.
What do you think?
It is really good cream cheese.
Yeah?
Yeah.
And then you know?
A ham and cream cheese sandwich goes well together and add a little bit of bread.
I have to say I've never seen ham served that way as a roll.
No, I haven't either.
I haven't either and like that is something we just spontaneously ordered by looking you
know at the very visible menu on display.
And I just took a look at that and I'm like I want something a little bit savory to go
along with our cake.
So I'm like yeah let's give it a shot.
And it was good.
Okay, here we go so I'm going to take actually I'm not going to eat your half bitten piece
of bread.
I'm going to grab a new slice.
We each get our own then huh?
Spread some of this.
Oh come on.
This is how it is done the proper way.
This is how we do it.
dun dun dun.
I also think it is kind of weird it has this like gel like gelatin on the ham.
Not a huge fan.
That is probably just to preserve it.
Alright.
That would be my guess.
Let's see.
Oh, also something I want to add is we've really enjoyed being able to eat outside at
restaurants and cafes.
It is just cool like taking in the vibe of the street and it is like we're right on the
cusp on not being able to do that because it is almost too cold.
I know.
Enjoy it while you can.
Enjoy it while you can.
There we go let's see what this is all about.
It is interesting.
It is like a cold cut sandwich.
It just reminds me of lunch in high school.
Pack your own sandwich.
Pack your own sandwich.
Yeah, it is very simple.
It is very simple.
Mozart Cake.
Mozart cake.
Alright, so for something sweet I'm just going to read it off the menu because too many ingredients.
I ordered the original Mozart Torte Wien.
So the original Viennese Mozart Cake.
And it is described as a dark sponge filled with the finest nougat and pistachio marzipan
encased in a light chocolate fondant icing.
There is a lot going on here.
That sounds pretty good.
I like fondant icing.
That is like poetry.
I like chocolate.
Yeah, there is a lot of stuff you like so.
Oooh.
It looks thick.
Look at the filling.
The filling is so thick.
it is like thicker than the cake itself.
Yeah.
Mmmmm.
Good stuff.
Oh yeah?
That made up for the sandwich you didn't like so much.
Yeah.
Haha.
This is way better.
I think you'll be keying in on the sweets.
That sandwich is probably all mine.
Oh my gosh.
The best part is the icing fondant.
Like that always reminds me of wedding cakes.
Yeah.
I just love it.
So much.
Mmmmm.
So I get to try a bit of this too.
Oh my gosh.
This is my favorite so far.
That is so thick.
Mmmmm.
Oh man.
The best way I can describe that is just like that is irresistibly decadent.
And now I'm going to take the little mozart chocolate.
I think that might be marzipan base.
The green part.
Mmmm.
Yeah.
So if you had to choose between the Mozart cake and the Sacher Torte.
I like Mozart Cake more.
Mozart cake best?
Absolutely.
It is way sweeter.
It is much sweeter.
It is just more inline with the types of cakes I like.
Mmmhmm.
Yeah, it is really good.
Oh, and the marzipan is very sweet.
Haha.
Delayed onset.
And up next Sam ordered topfenstrudel.
Topfenstrudel so basically this is like strudel, a pastry with Austrian cheese in the middle.
Yeah, it looks like a cream cheese.
Yeah, it is basically what you'd normally have on a cheesecake kind of filling.
Mmmmm.
Oh man.
I really like that.
Yeah?
Yeah.
This would be you know what?
This would be so good with apfelstrudel (apple strudel) like if you combined them together.
Oh oh you're getting fancy.
Yeah, a little bit of apple strudel and a little bit of topfenstrudel together in the
same bite.
That would be magic.
Absolute magic.
And last but not least.
And last but not least I'm like off staring.
What is going on down there.
What's going on?
Um, cake.
Last but not least.
More cake.
I'm going to try.
It is starting to get a little livelier on these streets now.
More traffic, more people walking by.
Yeah.
It is not like ghost town Vienna.
Haha.
When we left the apartment this morning.
Mmmm.
Isn't that nice?
I like that a lot.
Yeah, it is good.
Wow.
Yeah, it is really good.
I think if I had to choose between apple and cheese I'd go for the cheese again.
Yep.
Urgh.
Just look at you spilling it all over the place.
It is just like a nice sweet, fluffy cheese it kind of reminds me a bit of cottage cheese
though I'm sure it is something else.
Yeah.
Yeah, this is good.
Good choice Sam.
Yeah, so definitely in terms of the verdict for what we had the sweets definitely dominate
over the one savory item.
And Mozart Cake was my favorite.
Yep.
Mozart Cake for the win.
Mmmm.
If you guys come here definitely get the Mozart Cake.
Trust us on this one.
Time for price point at Aida.
Yeah, so in terms of the price point that came to 17.30 and that was for the two coffees
and the three food items.
So yeah, it was definitely more affordable than some of the more touristy and famous
cafes and it was just really nice.
It was really cool coming on a Sunday when it was nice and relaxed outside so yeah nice
way for us to end our time in Vienna (Wien) and now we're off to Bratislava.
Tata.
Tata.
