The architectural and engineering design technology program is ready to help you

such as state-of-the-art 3d printers advanced laser cutters virtual reality
equipment as well as software used by the industry's leading professionals
such as AutoCAD Revit MicroStation civil 3d and Adobe Creative Cloud the program
offers certificates in architectural and engineering design technology
architectural and civil engineering technology and architectural and visual
technology along with these certificates you can acquire an associate's degree of
Applied Science and architectural and civil engineering technology or
architectural and visual technology the way that we like to explain this program
to our students you know who say well what exactly do you do
well we help the creation of a design and we help the students actually create
that design and see it all the way through the students start off by
learning the architectural technology first they get exposed to a little bit
of architecture design theory so that along the way they're able to apply
those design skills to the technology that they're using and then you know
really be able to see problem-solve and you know critical thinking that's where
they really get to practice that so by the time they get to their final
semester they have a really solid foundation with the technical skills to
be able to communicate their design ideas I came into the program not
knowing anything about architecture just wanted to give architecture a shot and I
ended up liking it I stuck with it and I managed to learn a lot the professor's
they really take their time to teach and they make sure that they you understand
and you learn the software's and everything
to do with architecture they explain why things have to be a certain way so like
that when you go out and work in the field you already know the the basics of
how how buildings should be even when it's a class of eighteen the students
still get a lot of attention to really maximize their learning experience here
and we don't want to you know hold their hand the whole time we want to get them
to the point where they can think on their own and solve problems on their
own and figure things out on their own because that's really what they'll be
exposed to and expected to do when they start working
I enjoyed the program, it has, like benefited me the
professors there are really good they teach you what's out there because they
have experience in the field they encouraged us to seek out jobs they
helped us with interviews they wrote recommendation letters for us they
really wanted us to succeed in the field we have individuals who are working at
architecture firms we have students at utrgv who are pursuing their civil
engineering bachelor's degree and at the same time they're working and you know
what one thing that we hear from them a lot is that they needed these technical
skills it's worth going through that program many people think that it's oh
it's just an associate's but it gets you somewhere our classes not only increase
your employability but they can also be transferred to other institutions I like
we can design structures and you see it out and feel like oh I did that like I
helped with that and you're helping out basically the community because you're
creating more infrastructures that they can interact with. for more information
