Auto news on Youtube Oct 27 2017

what's up Internet welcome to fiction forge on today's episode we're gonna

take a closer look at silicone and show you a few ways of using it in your

project you'll be taking a look at what it is exactly and a few cool things you

can do with it and we'll try and show you a few cool tricks you maybe didn't

know what do you think graybles guy let's go in for a closer look you'll be

surprised to know that the rubbery substance known as silicone is made from

the same basic stuff as glass and computer chips silicon makes up

approximately a quarter of the Earth's crust and it is often harvested from

quartz from there it is processed into a metallic form through some pretty fancy

scientific chemical and physical processes they arrange the silicone into

long chains that form the basis of most of it's rubbery forms here are a few

helpful things to know when getting started choosing your silicone first of

all there are two different cure types acetoxy and neutral s acetoxy is the

most common type it smells heavily of vinegar when it's

curing it cures relatively quickly and it generally doesn't stick well to most

plastics glass or aluminum neutral releases alcohol as occurs this type

tends to be more expensive it cures slower and the time tends to vary more

it generally sticks well to most plastics glass aluminium and stone here

are a few of the different kinds that you could find commonly available

general purpose or builders silicone aquarium or marine silica two-part

silicone food-safe silicone sanitary silicone high temperature silicone

glazing silicone

modulus refers to how soft and flexible the silicone is lowest soft and flexible

high is more solid and durable here's a few pros and cons here are the pros it's

UV resistant temperature resistant and has low chemical reactivity and toxicity

it also forms watertight seals and only sticks well to a few things which can be

good or bad depending on what you're trying to do with it

electrically it can be insulative or conductive and it offers long lasting

flexibility and lifespan and here are the cons it can have a pungent odor the

cure times vary it can be very messy to handle and a nightmare to get out of

your clothes apart from its more common uses like in construction and making

mermaids tails ooowee can it make a mermaid's tail it's also a top choice

for making reusable flexible molds mostly for casting resin and other

liquid plastics but where we think it really shines creatively is in creating

hyper-realistic pieces that blur the line between fantasy and reality

I mean cinema makeup has been fooling you for decades with it check out these

life-size sculptures made by Thomas Kuebler they're gloriously creepy and

realistic I think we can all agree that these characters would make for the best

Tim Burton movie ever here are a few works created by boularis on deviantART

he also really knows his way around some silicone but holy hell can silicone make

some of the most badass masks you ever did see check out a few of these face melters from immortal masks the attention to detail with all this work

is utterly staggering and I'm sure that is in no small part

thanks to silicon when it comes to coloring silicon there's two ways that

work pretty well that we know first of all you got your food coloring and you

got your acrylic paint you can pull off some pretty interesting effects with

both of these but the main difference between the two is the food coloring

produces more translucent colors while as the acrylic produces more pastel or

opaque colors so we like to use a sturdy plastic bag when mixing up small batches

of silicon we are using both corners of the bag to mix up the two different

batches so we don't have to waste another bag the glow-in-the-dark acrylic

on this side and the food coloring on the other then give them both the good

mix in the bag silicone when wet can be a sticky nightmare you get a little bit in

your hair or on your clothes and it can really mess your day up you can try

using rubber gloves but they don't really help

they just keep your hands clean but here are a few tips that really do help

putting the silicone into water with ordinary dish soap stops it from being

able to stick to anything it makes it a breeze to handle on the other hand you

got corn starch you knead the silicone into it until it

stops sticking to stuff you just gradually add more and more until it

becomes manageable we can now mix up some soapy water but don't skimp on the

soap if you want this to work right cutting the corner of the bag allows you

to pipe the silicone straight into the soapy water see how it becomes like a

ball of brightly colored clay in your hands don't mess around with it for too

long though or it'll cure before you can do anything with it and now we add

a bit of corn starch so we can take the acrylic one and make it into protoputty

it's like making bread dough you just keep kneading it in until it's

not sticky

but we found even with the protoputty it was easier to handle after a generous

soaping boom there we have it colored moldable silicone and both will imprint

and take shape well working with silicone leads to lots of these weird

scrap rubber things we found these ones in the mixing bag from earlier we like

to keep these strange artifacts so we can chop them up into wet silicone to

either fill space or create interesting effects and textures so we've used

silicone in a bunch of projects over the years and we find it incredibly

versatile and it's especially adept at creating realistic damp organic textures

it can either carry the entire project like in the venoms case here

for it can support and accentuate the other materials like in the hydrolisks

case with his gums or in the Maokias case where we created some realistic

fake moss and some mushroom shelves that are illuminated right so for the fake

moss we crush up a bit of this florist foam then we use the same bag from

earlier to mix it up with the silicone and then smear it on a friend's hard

drive because hard drives the silicone proof right and the foam gives it an

interesting texture that glistens to make it more Moss like with an unsoaped

finger you can pat the silicone to make it spiky the hole is form a raindrop

that completely messed up the silicones ability to stick now let's slap some

silicone on this intricately carved wooden box to try and get an imprint the

soapy water makes applying the silicone as easy as buttering toast so this was a

learning moment don't use glass as a flat surface for

silicone made for fish tanks it sticks der so hence the knife to try and get it

off you've got to take your time prying the silicone impression up or it could

rip or bring bits of the box up with it this carving is too cool for just you

box now we can reproduce this carving out of a variety of materials whenever

we want with a bit of wire and some colored silicone you can whip up some

cool toys in no time I made this spider by creating a wire

armature and then just forcing some colored silicone around it and if you

weren't sold on the intricacy of that box let's see if it can steal shapes

from Mother Nature herself and while we're busy stealing shapes we figure cover

this aloe too and maybe that hard drive again with some glow-in-the-dark

silicone and maybe this other leaf as well and then 15 minutes later you can

peel away your prints this one was a failure because the silicone had already

started to cure when we molded it it didn't turn out right like the others anybody

need a stylish grip for something this one even glows in the dark we asked

ourselves where would a few silicone leaves really shine but we had no

success so we just stuck them on some lights and hoped for the best not bad at

all if you ask me

only another 95 to cover the rest of the lights yay

patron helps you to support creators that produce content you want to see

our audience in order to produce better content once again thanks so much for

watching we hope this gave you a bit of inspiration for some cool silicon

creations of your own join us next time when we'll be showing you how to be a

Halloween boss on a budget will be using silicone and a cheap store-bought mask

to forge a new mask so badass it'll make children cry till then we

hope to see you around the forge in the future and don't forget wizards only fools keep it tight

🔴 TV ZION Alternative to Terrarium TV, Kodi Showbox - Firestick APK Install guide - Duration: 9:42.

hey guys welcome back in this video I'm gonna be showing you a great apk for

movies and TV shows this works perfectly fine on your fire stick or fire TV or

any Android device it really is one of the best apks I've seen this year this

is very similar to terrarium TV but in some ways this has two advantages number

one there's no advert so I know you can get a modified version of terrarium TV

but this one out of the box it doesn't have any adverts the other advantage

which I think is particularly good for fire stick users it doesn't need any

third party player so literally store one apk and you're good to go

so you do not need to install VLC you don't need to install MX player one apk

and you're all set so as per normal or do a quick overview of the apk that I'll

give you the exact steps need to follow to install it so with all of that being

said let's get started okay so I'm going to do my demonstration

with the second-generation fire stick with Alexa remote control so

when you start the app which is called TVs ion determines what you'll see so

you have a TV section and then a movie section you have a list of categories on

the side so on the Left we can see we have categories for what's currently on

TV what's popular this year all-time popular then you have some of the genres

like adventure comedy animation a drama science fiction and kids now if you pick

one of these towels so they say for example we click on science fiction this

will basically show all of the TV series in that category of science fiction so

so you can see guys has really nice clean layout and if you watch one of

these so let's say for example we want to watch this

LS it resolved and watch this Star Trek's we can click on that so when you

click on the TV series you get like a nice summary you get like information

about how long it is how many episodes there are and what the IMDB rating is so

I can press play by clicking on this well just go across and click on that so

I'll basically play the first episode of this series or if I'll get two more

episodes I can then choose you know Thor in which particular season or if there's

a particular episode of one up and then just navigate with that and through some

things let's let's try one of these let's try a series 1 episode 22 click on

play so you can see guys I'm just doing this with one

remote control but if you were to have an air mouse there would be a lot easier

but just to show you that it is possible with the standard remote control I'll do

my the rest of my demonstration on that see see guys unlike some other add-ons

where basically you get a list of providers here once you chosen your

episode and press play it just starts playing so it just makes it a little bit

more Netflix like experience okay you also have a certificate which actually

works really well so if you just go across to that

so this basically searches across both movies and TV shows so just going to

that unless here for example I'm searching for a film so let's just

search for Avengers let's try a few letters and see if they're likes on a

subscriber then click on next so you can see at the moment this is looking under

movies but you do have the option of saying give me all of the TV series

which have the title event so that way Casillas found the Avengers let's go

back to movies okay so should see consider as event is there at the bottom

so let's click on that and let's try playing that it's a dimension guys it

doesn't need any third-party player so you're not gonna have to spend time

installing MX or VLC as soon as you install this apk you'll be good to go

and we can see our starts playing pretty much straight away okay let's stop that

once you do start a particular series or a particular movie once you have watched

AO for a certain amount of time if you do quit the application and go back into

it you'll see you have a continue watching section so as I previously

demoed me watching Bev Star Trek we can see that's now added into my continue

watching so again it just makes it that little bit easier for you to get back to

the container you're watching if we just go into the settings which is this

hamburger menu up here so you may be wondering how come this application

doesn't have any adverts so how's the guy making any money so what the

developer has done is he's not putting any adverts in but he's allowing you to

watch a thousand hours through the application for free so I think that's

pre generous that basically means you know if you're watching TV shows and

each episode is a you know an hour long that's 1,000 episodes you can watch

before you have to either donate or install an application

so we just go into the settings here see how you see it says playback time

remaining 1000 hours so you know I do think that's pretty pretty generous for

a free application especially when there's no adverse whatsoever so you

know once you have run out at that time you can either then donate if you want

to or you can just install an application from the Play Store so when

you install an application this base will give you another thousand hours

alternatively if you really are against that

you can always just uninstall and reinstall it but I think for the quality

of the application like you know how nice he's made there he's not put any

advert saying no pop-ups and it's not that so I think a thousand hours is

pretty generous so you have to decide once that time is up are you gonna

uninstall and reinstall or you're gonna just install one of the recommended

applications which you know will give you another thousand hours so again I

think that's pretty generous so in summary guys I would say this is a

great apk I really like the layout I like the fact that it doesn't have any

adverts also the fact that it doesn't need any third-party players so it just

gives it a more for a smoother experience it also has the one-click pay

feature so as soon as you do find your content you you can just press play

you'd have to try and you know go to a list of providers and choose something

you just mix the whole thing a little bit more Netflix like so it you know it

does have that slight quirk where you're only gonna get a thousand hours but I

personally think that's a small price to pay so you can watch over a thousand

hours and then worst worse you can either reinstall it or just install an

app from the place a tortilla so I think it definitely gets a thumbs up for me so

let me know what you think okay so let me show you now how you can install this

onto your devices okay so to install on a5 stick it's gonna be a four-step

procedure step one is to make sure you go to your settings device options

developer options and make sure these two options are set to on if you've been

installing apks for a while they'll probably be on anyway but just

double-check that and make sure the both set is on and that's step one done step

two is to download an application called downloader again you probably have

already got this installed but if you haven't just press left on the remote on

the home screen click on search and then search for the app downloaded or once

you see that click on that click on download and that should now be ready to

use okay and to get the actual apk again use the download application

and that get to this URL which is HTTP : 4/4 slash bit ly /td UK MTV 0 4 if you

are doing this on an Android phone or Android tablet or Android TV box just

use a browser and get to this URL once you get to the URL you love erupt and

they can click on to download the apk and you're good to go for 5 secures type

that in and click on go this will take you to this mediafire page check it when

you get to this page press down a few times in your remote and click on

download this will begin the download of TV's ion to your device ok when you see

this message press down a few times and then press write to install this will

begin the installation and just a gentle reminder guys if you are finding these

videos useful do hit that thumbs up and please subscribe to make sure you don't

miss out on the latest apks the latest builds and the latest add-ons thanks ok

when you get this message let's click on done don't click on open this will take

you back to the downloader screen because here you'll not get the option

to delete the apk that you've downloaded this will allow you to get some space

back especially we doing this on the forestay which does not much storage so

come back to the screen and click on delete and click on delete again okay so

now when you press the HOME key you'll notice you don't see TVs ion in your

application list the way we get it there if you go down to your app in games then

press write until you get to the end and click on see all now if you get the

bottom of this list here we can see the TV's own application is there so we just

press the Menu key on that which is this one here so you press that and select

the option move to front this will bring it to the top of your application list

and guys can't just say let's make this a little bit more interesting so if you

have got to this far in my video are we to leave a comment saying I love kittens

so the first three people that will leave that comment which is I love

kittens I'll give you a shout out in my next video so I thought I might be

something a bit fun to do ok let's go back to the home screen

and we can now see application is there all ready to use and when you

launching for the first time will just confirm again there when we go into our

settings which is on the top left and then go down to settings again we can

see here the playback time is again gone back to a thousand hours so so guys let

me know what you think about this apk if it's a good companion for MTV or if

you're gonna replace - herim TV with this let me know what you think leave me

a comment below and I hope you see you guys real soon

thanks that's it guys I hope you find that video useful give me a thumbs up if

you did comment below let me know if this worked for you and please subscribe

A Professional's Guide to Golf - Duration: 5:43.

Ahem...Golf.

The world's best sport.

One of the 5 manliest sports in the northern hemisphere.

You look at the list of the 5 and you get Hunting, Football, Wrestling, FOOTBALL, and

then BAM Golf.

I'm here to teach you how to be the best golfer you can be as quickly as possibly.

I will be concise, I will be forceful, but most of all I will be professional

Professional Golf is made up of 3 main sections, swinging, batting, and shooting.

Now I know what you're thinking, Carson, there's no swinging in golf!

Yes there is, hear me out, I'm a professional.

Taylormade.

Homegrown.

I was born on the golf field.

My mother was a Callaway Golf Ball.

She gave her life to give birth to me while mid-air after being hit by Tiger Woods.

I'm golf-born.

I'm a cold-blooded golfer boy with little self-esteem but a lot of hope for you, so

listen up.

We're gonna hone that swing buddy.

First step to swinging is the style.

There's about 12 different swing styles that you can choose from unless you've already

crafted your own.

Big Man Boy Man Big Short Dude

Big Boy Small Man Little Guy Big Hopes

Long Bro Small Guy Big Small Boy Boy

Boy Small Going Big Giant Guy Small Hands

Big Bro Big Boy Small Guy Big

Small Small Big Big Boy Boy Boy Boy

You're also going to have special moves, where you can combine certain styles of swinging.

SO for example here's Big Boy Small Man Long Small Big Guy Tiger Woods.

After using one of these, you're golf ball will go flying.

Now that you know your swing you gotta know what you're swinging at.

You gotta love that golf ball.

You gotta feel that golf ball.

Every groove.

Every indent.

You have to make love to that golf ball.

Make that golf ball your wife.

Have 5 good years and a kid and then inevitably get divorced.

Fight over the custody of your golf kid.

Come to the realization that your kid is the most important thing in your life an remarry

after putting your differences aside.

Live a long life with your golf ball wife until she dies before you.

THAT'S the type of love you gotta have for this boy.

THAT'S what it takes to be the best.

And you know I'm right, I'm a professional, I've done this all

*Cough* listen close now, we're getting in the thick of it.

Once you take your first swing, you have to follow the ball while it's in the air.

Let's hope you're a track star.

As the ball is flying in the air after your extremely powerful swing, you should be running

along the ground, avoiding all the obstacles.

Once the ball lands, freeze in your steps.

If you try to make a move, they'll shoot you.

Be careful, I don't wanna see you get hurt.

You're a good guy, a good man.

Once the ref sees that you are frozen in your tracks, an unmoving pillar of justice, he'll

leave you, but keep a close eye on that guy.

He might start throwing shade your way, and you don't want that because if he does then

you won't be able to see

Retrieve your ball, put down your baseball diamond, get your caddy to bring you your

bat.

The baseball bat throw is probably the most important part of golf.

Most people will tell you to go for a javelin toss, but I personally recommend a frisbee

throw for a more controlled bat toss.

No matter what, you have to get on the green with this throw, if you don't the referee

will shoot you because he hates losers and that's what you would be, a big loser.

If you get on the green and avoid the deadly gaze of Mr. Jeffery the Referee, you can consider

yourself one lucky duck.

Here comes your final shot, the deciding shot.

You miss, you die, you don't miss, you win.

Yeah, you heard right, you could win.

Unbelievable.

Inspiring.

There's several things you can do for your shot.

It's all up to how you want to play, but I have a set of suggestions that might help

you

Back in 1978, Jack Nicklaus, Famed golf prodigy, laid down the ground and had his caddy force

feed him a golf ball, and then when Jack Nicklaus started choking, he gave the order to his

caddy to slam down on his stomach, shooting the ball out of Jack's throat straight into

the hole.

Jack said he did it because he was really hungry, and the caddy wasn't ordered to

give him the Heimlich.

Every pro golfer knows better.

He did that on purpose.

It was a message - I may not be able to eat my golf ball but I am able to eat you...for

breakfast.

People have been going the extra mile like this on their final stroke for centuries.

In the north pole, they got confused thinking that the reason for the polar bears name was

that they were meant to be used for getting to the golf pole, so they rode polar bears

into the pole and dropped their ball in the hole.

Indians used to smoke giant cigars, making solid clouds of smoke that would carry their

ball into the hole.

Sadly, they lost the ability to make these clouds, and would end up missing their shot

and getting killed.

That's why the native americans are extinct.

They were just really bad at golf.

Other shots include: The Uncle's Ankle, The Cleveland Cleaver, Big Jimmy, The Egg

McMuffin, Old Man's Steamboat, and the Even Stevens.

Once you get it in the hole, you win.

And I know you'll get in there, because you were taught by me, a pro golfer.

It'll be rough starting off, and you'll probably die, but if you don't die you can

tell all your friends and they will be so impressed.

They might even start hanging out with you.

That's all that really matters in the end, right?

Togetherness.

Anyways, I'm Carson, and I'm a professional at most things.

My next lesson will be A Professional's Guide to The Ocean, so make sure your swim

trunks are dry because we're going deep sea diving.

It's my goal to make everyone is a professional at all things possible, like me.

I just want to pass on my knowledge, and I hope you'll want to learn.

Thank you.

Beginner's Guide to Python - Setup - Duration: 2:02.

hey there welcome to the beginners guide to Python in this short video

series I'm going to be teaching you Python from scratch I'm going to assume no

prior knowledge and assume that you know how to use the basics of a computer but

you have never written a line of Python code in your life and I'm going to teach

you the basics of it from start to finish before we get started we need to

set up our system so that we can run Python on our computer now the way that

you do this is you head over to python.org

and you come down and you download the version 3.6.3 or

whichever version is out at the time of the video and you just follow the

instructions and download it onto your system once it's downloaded the next

thing that you need is an editor, a text editor we're going to be using atom

editor which is just a plain text editor that allows us to modify Python files on

our system again just like you do with Python you can just follow the

instructions on the website to download this application it's available for

Windows Mac or Linux so no matter which operating system you're using you should

be able to install it once python and atom are installed let's go ahead and

test by opening up our command prompt if you're on Windows if you're on a Mac

you're going to open up the terminal window and just type Python. Hit enter and

you can see that it loads up the Python interactive console now don't worry too

much about this for now we just want to verify that this outputs something

similar to what you see here just so we can confirm that python is correctly

installed don't worry if your version of Python doesn't match the version that

you installed as sometimes systems come with versions already installed by

default we'll get into more of that later but for now just make sure that

you have Python installed and that you have the atom editor and then you're

good to go

Stop Overeating When Dining Out Guide - Duration: 4:49.

Hi there!

I'm Michelle with Michelle Arant Coaching and I help successful career women stop eating

when they're stressed about work and lose weight for good.

I made a resource for those of you who find it hard to go out to eat and control yourself

around the food.

I'd like to send it to you but first I'd like to go over it a little bit.

It's called, "Stop Overeating When Dining Out".

The reason I created this is because I always have to go out to eat at least 2-3 times per

week whenever I'm at work.

Whether it's taking a client out or just wanting to go out to eat with co-workers, there's

always a reason to go to a restaurant to eat.

I find that when I talk to so many women who say that it seems to be a downfall.

They do really well as long as they taking their lunch to work or cooking at home, but

when it comes to going to restaurants, it's really hard for them to stay on plan.

I made a guide for you so that you can be more successful whenever you have to go out

to eat.

The guide is broken down into 3 main parts.

1.

Things to think about before the meal.

2.

Things to think about during the meal.

And 3.

things to think about after the meal.

I want to talk just a few minutes about what you need to do and the questions

you need to ask yourself before the meal.

Ask yourself before you order what's your long-term goal.

Most of you will probably say, "Well, I want to lose weight."

And, yes, that's good, but I want you to dig deeper than that.

Really think about why you want to lose weight.

Is it because you're tired of hiding behind all the skinny people in the pictures?

Maybe you're one of those people who's always taking the picture because you think you're

so overweight you don't even want to be in the photo.

Do you want to feel healthier?

Do you want to have more energy and be able to spend time with your kids instead of always

coming in from work and being tired all the time?

Do you just want to be happier?

That's really what you need to ask yourself before you even go in the restaurant and especially

before you order.

The second thing that you need to do is think about what foods you can order at any restaurant

that you go to, even fast food restaurants where everything is fried.

Think about the foods that you can order that will get you to your goal.

So many times we walk into a restaurant and we, all of sudden, think, "Well, just forget

it!

I'm just going to have the double cheeseburger and fries and I'm not going to worry about

it.

I'll think about losing weight tomorrow."

But there's always something on the menu that you can order that will help you get to that

long-term goal alot quicker.

So choose those foods first.

Finally, and I think it's the most important one, ask yourself, "How do I want to feel

at the end of this meal?"

How do I want to feel at the end of this meal?

So many of us, when we go out to eat in restaurants, walk in with the best intentions.

We really want to stay on our diet plan, but then we just get consumed with the smell of

the restaurant and the really good food and good pictures on the menu and we usually end

up blowing it.

We leave the restaurant really down on ourselves, feeling stuffed and feeling disappointed in

ourselves because we weren't able to keep our commitment to ourselves.

So, a good thing to do is ask yourself before you ever order, "How do you want to feel at

the end?

Do you want to feel stuffed or do you want to walk out of the restaurant and feel proud

of yourself?"

I think that you'll find the answer will help you place the right order that meets your

long-term goals.

I am wanting to send you the other two phases of the guide.

If you want the guide, just click on the button, fill in your email address and I'll be happy

to send it to you so that when you go out to restaurants, you can start applying some

of these strategies and you can leave feeling proud of yourself instead of stuffed and frustrated.

Have a good day!

Bye!

Enrollment Guide/Video1-Overview - Duration: 10:55.

On behalf of the Office of Employee Benefits, welcome to the University of Texas System!

We're delighted that you've joined the UT System community. We'd like to introduce

ourselves and share some information about the UT Benefits Program.

During this video, we'll provide an overview of the program and discuss plan administration,

eligibility for insurance, and enrollment periods. We'll also let you know a little

bit about the benefits available to you and where you can find more information about

the UT Benefits program.

UT System includes 14 academic and health institutions located throughout the state

of Texas, as well as the System Administration offices located in Austin.

The Uniform Group Insurance Program, also known as UT Benefits, serves all of these

institutions and operates under the authority of the Texas Legislature. Chapter 1601 of

the Texas Insurance Code (known as the State University Employees Uniform Insurance Benefits

Act) establishes the requirements and eligibility criteria for the program. Your institution

may also offer some unique benefits outside of this program that your HR or Benefits office

can tell you more about.

The UT Benefits program is administered by the UT System Office of Employee Benefits

(also known as OEB) under the direction of the Board of Regents and Chancellor.

As part of our UT community, you're very important to all of us at OEB. That's why

we're pleased to offer a dynamic and flexible package of valuable benefits to you and your

eligible dependents. Currently, close to 240,000 Employees, Retirees,

and eligible family members participate in the UT Benefits program.

In overseeing the program, OEB is responsible for the administration of contracts for the

group insurance plan, voluntary retirement, system-wide wellness programs, for the benefits

plan design, and for managing the selection of vendors through a competitive bid process.

OEB receives regular feedback about the UT Benefits program from a System-wide committee

formed for this purpose. Working within the limits of the market and regulations, OEB

considers the unique needs of all UT System Employees, Retirees, and their dependents.

Our goal is always to maximize the benefits and services offered.

To be eligible to enroll in insurance coverage, you must meet specific criteria.

To participate in the UT Benefits Plan as a full-time employee:

You must work at least 40 hours per week or have a full-time appointment.

A UT Institution may also designate an employee who is expected to work at least 30 hours

per week as full-time. Please contact your institution's HR or Benefits office for

additional details.

To participate in the UT Benefits Plan as a part-time employee you must work at least

20 hours per week. In addition to the number of hours an employee

is scheduled to work per week, both full-time and part-time employees must…

Have an appointment expected to continue for at least 4 ½ months, and

Be eligible to participate in Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), Optional Retirement

Program of Texas (ORP), or Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS), and

Certain other employees and post-doctoral fellows who do not meet these requirements

may also qualify to participate in the UT Benefits program. To confirm your eligibility

for insurance benefits, it's best to speak with your institution's HR or Benefits office.

You may also choose to enroll your eligible dependents in certain insurance coverage.

In general, your spouse and dependent children under age 26 are eligible to participate in

the UT Benefits program. For a complete list of eligible dependents

and details about available coverage please review …

… the 2017-2018 UT Benefits Enrollment Guide for Employees or visit the OEB website at

www.utsystem.edu/offices/employee-benefits. Under state and federal laws, you can make

elections for coverage in the UT Benefits program only during specific enrollment periods.

As a new employee, you have an initial enrollment period of 31 days from your date of hire to

elect benefits. Employees moving from a non-benefits eligible role to benefits-eligible position

will also have 31 days following their change in eligibility status to enroll in benefits.

Another opportunity to select coverage is during Annual Enrollment, which is an open

enrollment period each year, usually held from July 15th to July 31st. Elections made

during this time will become effective the upcoming September 1st (or later in some cases).

During the plan year, an employee or dependent may experience a Qualifying Change of Status

Event. Two common examples are getting married or having a baby. Employees have 31 days from

the date of a Qualifying Event to make related changes to their benefits.

To complete enrollment or confirm your benefits effective date, please contact your institution's

HR or Benefits office. Benefits-eligible employees are offered a

Basic Coverage Package which includes subscriber-only enrollment in the UT SELECT Medical and Prescription

Drug Plan, plus $40,000 of group term life, and $40,000 of Accidental Death & Dismemberment

(also known as AD&D) coverage. Dental, Vision, Voluntary Group Term Life,

Voluntary AD&D, Long- and Short-term Disability, and flexible spending accounts are also available.

To learn about these optional insurance coverages, please visit our OEB website for additional

information. We have publications and video resources available there for you.

Premium sharing funds, contributed by the State of Texas and your institution, help

cover the cost of the Basic Coverage package and a portion of dependent medical coverage.

The amount of Premium Sharing available depends on whether you work full-time or part-time.

If you're full-time, premium sharing covers 100% of the cost of your Basic Coverage package…

…and about 50% of the premium for your dependent's medical coverage.

If you're part-time and you elect to enroll in the UT SELECT Medical plan premium sharing

will cover 50% of the cost of your Basic Coverage package and about 25% of the premium for your

dependent's medical coverage. Please Note: Employees and dependents who

are receiving premium sharing as a participant in another state-sponsored medical plan in

Texas are not eligible to receive premium sharing for the UT Benefits program.

If you have other medical coverage not sponsored by the State of Texas, such as coverage through

your spouse's private sector employer, you may have the option to waive Basic Coverage.

And by waiving, you may receive a portion of the typical premium sharing to use toward

the purchase of certain optional insurance. A full-time employee who is waiving medical

coverage may receive premium sharing up to 50% of the cost of the Basic Package.

A part-time employee may receive up to 25% of the total cost of the Basic Package.

When waiving the Basic Package, premium sharing may be used toward the cost of purchasing

dental, vision, and Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (or AD&D) coverage – for

yourself and eligible dependents. Evidence of Insurability (also known as EOI)

is a record of your health history that's used by insurance companies to verify whether

you meet the definition of "good health." As a newly benefits-eligible employee, EOI

is required to enroll in Voluntary Group Term Life coverage greater than 3 times your annual

salary. In addition, EOI is required for your spouse if enrolling in additional Spouse Voluntary

Group Term Life insurance greater than $10,000. No EOI is required for enrollment in Short-

or Long-term Disability coverage as a newly benefits-eligible employee. If you don't

enroll in disability coverage during your initial period of eligibility, EOI may be

required to enroll later. UT System strives to promote a culture of

wellness and disease prevention. Because the use of tobacco is one of the leading preventable

health risks worldwide and because of the high costs of treating tobacco-related health

conditions, UT System implemented the Tobacco Premium Program for the UT SELECT Medical

plan. As part of the benefits enrollment process

you must declare whether you or any of your covered dependents use tobacco. A participant

in the UT SELECT Medical plan, aged 16 and above, who has used tobacco products within

the past sixty (60) days is considered to be a tobacco user.

The Tobacco Premium Program applies to all types of tobacco products, including, but

not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, pipes, clove cigarettes, and all forms of smokeless

tobacco. Other smoking devices that use tobacco and E-cigarettes (which contain nicotine)

are also included. An additional out-of-pocket premium of $30

per month applies for any tobacco user enrolled in the UT SELECT Medical plan, including yourself,

your spouse, and your dependent children. For dependent children, the premium is $30

per month regardless of how many covered children use tobacco. The maximum any family will pay

is $90 per month if subscriber, spouse, and any dependent children use tobacco.

UT System is committed to helping tobacco users quit by offering FREE resources such

as Tobacco Cessation Programs, prescription medications, and Nicotine Replacement Therapy

(NRT) through our UT SELECT Medical and Prescription plans as part of our Living Well worksite

health and wellness program. You can learn more about these resources on our Living Well

website at www.livingwell.utsystem.edu/tobacco.htm. To learn more about any of the insurance plans

offered through the UT Benefits program, please visit the Video Library on the Office of Employee

Benefits website at www.utsystem.edu/offices/employee-benefits. Detailed information about the UT Retirement

and Living Well programs is also available on our website.

The Office of Employee Benefits strives to offer high quality, competitive benefit programs

for UT System Employees and Retirees and their families. Our staff is here to help make it

a priority for you and your family to live well and to help you build a unique benefits

package that cares for you today, tomorrow, and beyond.

On behalf of The Office of Employee Benefits, we wish you a healthy and successful year

with the University of Texas System. Thank you!
