I don't know man

Shouldn't have let her handle this project

She has too many feelings ha-ha

Girls have too many feelings

you know

They are sensitive,

emotional and indecisive

By the way, why we're talking about this?

I'll come by later

okay,

Okay, bye !

Umm, hey, do you mind?

please !

hey, can I help you with something?

No.

hey, what did you mean by

girls are sensitive, emotional, indecisive,

can't do anything other than dress nicely and cook food for their husband

I didn't say the last part

might as well do

your words were just nicer, smarter way to refer to the same thing

you know what

I gotta go

Hey, where are you going?

Probably somewhere else insulting other people with my horrible misogynistic comment

wanna tag along?

bye

hey

look,

are you following me?

no,

I'm a regular costumer here, you are new here

hey, I'm sorry if yesterday I was disturbing you

but I can't help it, you know

you should not generalize women like that

in other situation, i might have easily agreed with you

but yesterday's full conversation

just proved my point

what? how so?

first of all,

you came up to me because you're offended of my comments that you didn't know the context of

that is emotional and sensitive

second,

I asked you if you needed something

but you said no and kept going away

that is indecisive

okay, that's unfair

are you one of these feminists that's always mad about everything

no I'm not. I'm not a feminist

you sound like one

that's another stereotyping

you know,

just because you fit into one criteria doesn't mean you're in that category, right?

I mean I'm studying in mining engineering

which is in male criteria

but also I wear dress, heels

besides, I don't like the term

it is restricting and somehow divisive

people are fighting for other types of equality

why separate ourselves with other people who fight for basically the same cause, right?

intersectional feminism

what?

there is a term for that called intersectional feminism

it basically deals with multidimensional intersecting social identities

like gender,

race,

social class

nationality, et cetera

it pursues other types of equality as you put it

but still feminism

oh, so you understand feminism, right?

probably more than you do

nice

I think you need to stop leaving people like this

yeah, see you tomorrow.

Hi.

I purposefully came here a bit later to avoid you, but yet here you are

what a coincidence

okay,

so, umm, what's your deal?

you seem like an angry-threatened-misogynist-man-child but are not

the sexist comment you said on the phone with your friend

seemed out of the character

I don't know

probably the fact that men are facing similar mistreat with women.

women keep talking about wage gap

while no one ever talked about how men are expected to do lower paying jobs

like construction and waste collection

women are tough if they have short haircut

and men are suddenly weak if they let out tear

okay, easy there.

that kind of discrimination happens towards women since centuries ago

well

Well, it just so happens that I live in this century. Plus, if I complain, I am suddenly a 'misogynist man-child'

oh, wow, never thought about it that way

uh-huh

I think

men are not weak if they cry

quite the opposite, actually

but you are still sensitive, emotional and indecisive

hey, you're sensitive and emotional

pouring your heart out in the middle of this empty coffee shop [GIGGLE]

but that is not necessarily a bad thing

yeah,

men and women can be sensitive and emotional if they want to [SHRUG]

Cleantech and Coffee with Stefan Lindström Finnish Consul General in LA - Duration: 4:33.

(Antonio) Thank you for joining us for another episode of Cleantech and Coffee.

We're coming to you today from the Hollywood Hills

and joining me is the Finnish Consul General Stefan Lindström.

Stefan, you've been in LA for quite some time now,

this is your second time in LA with the Consul.

What makes you keep coming back?

(Stefan) It's an easy answer actually. It's because of the dynamism.

People come to Los Angeles because there is such a drive for

everything. It's a

melting pot of people, ideas, from

everywhere in the world. And that's something that is absolutely amazing.

It creates possibilities, and the other one is

the attitude of the people here, the investors, of the universities

of everything. Nobody asks the question: 'where do you come from?'

Everybody is interested in where do you go.

It's as simple as that.

(Antonio) Well, with California, looking

at a map, it would seem like, with Finland and California,

would be on two different sides of the spectrum. However, in reality there are big similarities between the two economies.

However, in reality there are big similarities between the two economies.

How do you think we can work to bridge the gap between the Nordics and the West Coast?

(Stefan) The first is

really raising awareness because, its

raising awareness on both sides.

Creating an atmosphere here,

a possibility for the Finnish companies to bring in their technologies

and show them to the American market in a different way.

It requires time, money and

patience to do it.

But also presence.

You have to be present when you start doing something.

So raising the awareness on both sides. Also

about the research. What is being done, because

the Finnish technologies in many ways are

a way ahead, but we are not that good

in selling the products what we have

in the right way, and that's where we can do much, much more.

Also, in a way to bring a lot of American

people also on the public side to

Finland to see how have we solved these kinds of issues

back home. That would also create an awareness that would

create as an end result business.

(Antonio) Us, at Cleantech Invest, we are a Nordic company and that brings some implications with it.

a Nordic company and that brings some implications with it.

There are technological implications, but

but also, cooperation.

More than any other place in the world, the Nordics tend to

cooperate very well. So, what do you think?

(Stefan) The Nordics, it's a quite unique group

of countries in many ways,

the 5 Nordic countries. We

share the value base, we share the history, and

we have been doing this kind of cooperation on a government to

government basis since the early 50s.

We have a passport free zone since 1952, which is

totally unique in the world.

In practice, this means

when we deal with this in California and the US

we are opening now in a few weeks, Nordic LA,

which is a co-Nordic

working space for the creative industry

in Hollywood. We already have the Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley.

193 companies there together

from all 5 Nordic countries. It's quite an amazing place.

It's like a melting pot of companies sharing

information.

And I'm working personally very hard on creating what I call

the 'Nordic base', which would be a co-Nordic

or co-working space for the

Nordic companies and also the government representatives

in Los Angeles. That would have

the Consulates, the entities that are

doing business promotion, but also

one important aspect there is that it would entail the

global Nordic companies, that would have a business innovation hubs

in California. Because California is the

future in cleantech, in IT and

in many other issues. And

these companies need eyes and ears somewhere, and

California is the place to be. The SME's would

get traction from working together with their startup companies,

with the business promotion agencies and with the global companies.

So it would be a real win-win-win-win situation, for not

only the companies, but also the government.

So, that's something we really look forward to

establish here. (Antonio) I can see this is something you are passionate about

and this is

my first time hosting the interviews, so thank you for being such a gracious guest.

And hope to see you soon!

(Stefan) Thank you. (Antonio) Bye and thank you for joining us on Cleantech and Coffeee

Kettlebells & Coffee | Session 29 - Duration: 4:09.

I guess I've been doing a lot of recordings here at Cool Beans and I've become a little

more of a regular [baristas] CORY!

[Cory] It's a great place where they know you're first name so I'm really excited to

here today.

And I'm excited, even more, about my special guest.

Took a lot of money to bring her in even though she's just down the road from me but I want

to talk today with Devan Weis.

Weiss?

Like the beer?

[Devan] Weis ... yes.

[Cory] Nice! we're going to get a long!

She's the owner of Journey Active here in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Devan was certified in the StrongFirst last year, right?

[Devan] Yes.

[Cory] So StrongFirst is a very serious kettlebell certification for anybody that doesn't know.

[Devan] It's a 3-Day certification where all three days you're being observed.

[Cory] We've got Pavel who's a serious Russian guy I mean everything he starts off with is,

[Pavel] Comrade.

[Cory] So when you talk about this it gives me the heebie jeebies, I feel like you're

in a dark basement with a whole bunch of Russians looking at you and like ... [Devan] It's not

like that [Cory] Okay, good!

What's the most popular kettlebell exercise out there?

[Devan] The kettlebell swings.

[Cory] You get people that probably come to Journey Active and they want to start swinging,

right?

I mean that's what they do.

And you first have to establish the hinge, which I think as coaches, we both know the

hinge can sometimes be really problematic to teach somebody.

[Devan] Absolutely.

[Cory] Because of their disconnect with their body.

You tell them to hinge and all of a sudden they fall into this really crappy looking

squat.

[Devan] Yes!

[Cory] When you're looking at someone's hinge what are you looking for?

What tells you they passed the "hinge test?'

What do they have to be able to display?

[Devan] That's a great question we always establish the hinge pattern first without

a weight at all.

[Cory] And when you feel comfortable like, 'OK, you got the bodyweight hinge.'

What's your next step?

[Devan] The next step would be a kettlebell deadlift.

[Cory] OK, so weight is on the floor and once they have the kettlebell deadlift, where do

they go after that?

[Devan] They go into what we call a hike pass.

[Cory] We learn something everyday!

This is what I love about this community we have here especially in La Crosse.

Somebody's hinges their acceleration is awesome.

[Devan] Okay?

[Cory] What's the thing as a coach you want to pull your hair out?

[Devan] The deceleration phase of the swing as it's coming back down.

[Cory] Everyone feels like, 'Hey, I won, I made it up here, and I'm going to take a break

and ... [Devan] BOOM!

[Cory] We just got back from Fitness Lying Down.

[Devan] Yes, we did.

[Cory] And I wanted to show Devan that she doesn't have to stop using the kettlebells

but what's a better way we could learn the deceleration using our Ultimate Sandbags?

So I introduced you today to the front loaded good morning, right?

[Devan] Yes you did.

[Cory] And that was kind of a 'Mind Blown' if you will, right?

[Devan] Yes!

[Cory] What was the first thing we talked about, the whole spread the bag across your

chest, right?

[Devan] Yup.

[Cory] That activation, you really felt the lats engage more didn't you?

[Devan] Absolutely!

[Cory] Awesome and you said ABS, that's awesome.

[Devan] Yeah, and I could feel my abs.

[Cory] You look at the deceleration of your kettlebell swing, there it is!

So you can actually teach somebody.

And my favorite part about that is when I had you hold for three seconds at the bottom.

[Devan] Yeah, that was fun!

[Cory] I know!

No one ever says it's fun, but you did!

And we just kill all momentum, unlike your kettlebell swing where you can use that deceleration

to help coil back up but now what did you have to do?

You had to explode back up through your own!

[Devan] Yes, and I had to utilize my posterior chain.

[Cory] I love it.

Poster ... I love it when you talk posterior chain that's my favorite.

[Devan] Posterior chain.

[Cory] That's my favorite!

Devan!

Let's talk about Core Straps because Cory loves Core Straps!

I think my mom, I don't think she named me right, I think she put the Y when it should

have just been an E. Core ... [Devan] Core?

[Cory] Like that's my name, Core!

[Devan] Core!

Core Strap Cory!

[Cory] Core Strap Cory ... oooo!

Not only do you have to pull against yourself to go into that hinged position, but now you

have the band.

Can we agree, lats, hips, I mean your activation with your feet and the floor is very important.

If you didn't have that I would've had to peel you off the front wall or you would have

to compensate and compromise most likely low back position.

And that's where most people get their kettlebell swing problems, right, low back?

[Devan] Absolutely.

[Cory] So you can see using this simple tool ... we're not taking away from your kettlebell

community, we're actually adding to it, right?

[Devan] Yes, yeah!

[Cory] Awesome, I love it!

So overall takeaway from the Ultimate Sandbag for the first time experience is ... [Devan]

Very good, it was very good!

[Cory] I love it!

Maybe at some point we might be able to find and Ultimate Sandbag hanging out at Journey

Active?

[Devan] Yup, possibly.

[Core Strap Cory] I like that.

Until next time ...
