Hey guys and welcome back to coffee talk Tuesday with me
Kelsey where we sit down every Tuesday to give you some insight on how to
maximize your business on social media. So grab your coffee because today we're
talking about social media trends that have dominated 2017. This past year we
saw a huge jump into influencer marketing. Companies now allocate part of
their marketing resources to use these online personalities with the idea that
if they engage with somebody who's trusted and respected in their community
they would then become trusted and respected as well. With a new year comes
a new generation focus and this past year it was all about Gen Z. Gen Z or
anybody born after '95 tends to be more private than their millennial
counterparts. They're resistant to traditional advertising which makes it
more difficult to attract to your brand but don't count them out just yet
because they currently have forty four billion dollars in purchasing power. This
past year we saw the emergence of integrated buying opportunities on
social media. Facebook came out with their marketplace you can now do a
direct buy shop on your Facebook business page and Instagram is currently
in beta for rolling out their direct buy as well. No shocker here on our next one
video is huge we knew it was coming and it's a great way to get your point
across. Facebook just came out saying that they're actually gonna rank videos
even higher than they did before especially with live video which brings
a great sense of authenticity to your brand. Parleing out that last point
authenticity is huge so much so that platforms are actually altering to bring
more authenticity to their channels. Brands are hopping on this because it
brings a human factor to their marketing. Examples of this are seen in Instagram
stories, Facebook live, snapchat and the like.
