- [J.R.] Hey welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee
your place for average-Joe coffee reviews.
Today's coffee is a house-blend, like house music.
(record scratch imitation) (Kayla laughing)
(upbeat music)
- [Kayla] Today we are reviewing Starbucks House Blend
which is supposed to be rich and lively.
It's a medium roast, 100 percent arabica coffee.
(J.R. agreement hum)
Yeah, it just says that it's loaded with flavor
balancing taste of nuts and cocoa, and a touch of sweetness.
- Ah.
- The question is, do we like it like that?
- And do we see the same thing they do?
- Right.
- Kayla is going to get the coffee now.
(Kayla laughing)
- I was going to say we can talk about price
- Welcome back, oh the price was expensive.
- Yes.
- We did buy it on sale, but, normally it's like 9.70
9.50 a bag, which is like 12 something a pound
which is on the higher end of the coffee's we review
- Which is normally what you'll find in the grocery store.
- Right, yeah.
- So let's see, do we concur with the master roasters
and blenders at the Starbucks in Seattle?
(Kayla chuckling)
- Well I'll say, overall I like it.
Like, it's not my favorite, but it's not horrible.
- It's passable.
- Yeah it's passable.
Roasty, almost burnt or bittered
but it's like right on that edge, so.
Maybe a little closer than I'd like it to be, yeah.
- Yeah, and certainly the cocoa flavor is there.
- Nutty.
- Not like chocolate, like, "Mmmm"
but cocoa, powdery type and nutty.
- Yeah nutty, a little nutty. Not like overly nutty, but
which can be a good thing but this is, you know.
It has not as much flavor as I would want.
- Yeah.
- In this kind of price range, I'm looking for
serious coffee flavor.
- And the same as with the Starbucks Pike Place
they said to use two tablespoons per cup and we did that
and we didn't like it and so we switched to one and a half
and it was better that way.
- Yeah I enjoy it a lot more this way that you made it today
- Yeah so keep in mind, that when you're
having a coffee, if it's just like
there's just too much going on here,
then use a smaller amount of coffee
but I think probably for the Donut Rating
maybe a three at most? Yeah, yeah because it's so expensive.
- Yeah, if it was less expensive then I would say
more towards the three and a half
but yeah, since this is so expensive: three.
- Yeah, well if you've have any Starbucks Coffees
that you've loved or hated and
you want us to drink them because you hate us too,
then let us know what they are
we're always looking for new coffees to review.
Someone up until this point has recommended Starbucks
Yukon Blend, I think is what it was called
and I tried to find it at the store but I couldn't
when we were there last time
but, either way, we're looking
but thanks for joining us for this review
and until next time...
- Keep grindin'

Cancer risks from coffee? Ten other unlikely ways coffee' might harm you! - Duration: 2:50.
Just how dangerous is a cup of coffee? We love a good cuppa at risk bites, so we
were rather dismayed when a Californian judge declared coffee companies in the
state would have to display a cancer warning label.
The problem is, when coffee beans are roasted, the chemical acrylamide is
produced. This is classified by the International Agency for Research on
Cancer, or IARC for short, as probably causing cancer. Thankfully though, things
aren't as bad as they sound. IARC, which is part of the World Health Organization,
assesses whether something has the potential to cause cancer, but not the
likelihood of cancer actually occurring. In other words, California's ruling could
be really bad news for coffee junkies; or it might just mean that your chances of
getting cancer from coffee are marginally less than winning the
national lottery! The trouble is, just providing information on the possibility
of something bad happening, and not saying anything about the probability, is
about as useful as a one-handed clap - not very! Nevertheless, seeing as California
has paved the way here, we thought we'd look at some other improbable ways that
coffee might kill, maim, or otherwise harm you; just in case. One: a sack of coffee
beans falling on your head. Two: being run over by a runaway hipster gourmet coffee
cart. Three: dowsing yourself in scalding hot coffee, because you didn't read the
label that said "caution hot coffee". Four: choking on a coffee bean. Five: choking on
a chocolate coated coffee bean. Six: insomnia madness from drinking too much
coffee. Seven: a fatal lack of concentration from drinking too little coffee. Eight:
getting balled out by a coffee deprived boss. Nine: asphyxiation from shoving coffee
beans of your nose -- and seriously do not do this! And ten: pigging out on donuts;
because, let's face it, what's the point of coffee without the carbs? Of course,
while any of these might possibly happen, the probability is rather low. Meaning
that, despite all the things that might happen when you go
for your morning cup of joe, you'll probably be okay.
The same goes for California's carcinogen label. Here, there's certainly
data to indicate that you might possibly get cancer from the acrylamide in coffee --
although you'd have to drink a heck up a lot of it, and you also have to balance
this against the health benefits of the drink. But the likelihood? That's a whole
other matter. In the meantime I'm off for a a cuppa...

How to make Hot Coffee with Voilà - Specialty Instant Coffee - Duration: 1:03.
Grab a pen and paper because today we're making hot coffee with Voilà.
Start By just shaking it up.
A lot of people really like this part.
Then you can just rip that right open
and dump the whole thing into your cup.
No sense leaving anything behind.
Then start pouring your hot water in.
Any preferred drinking temperature will do.
We like to fill it to 8 to 10oz.
Then you can just start stirring it up –making sure everything's nice and dissolved.
That's looking really nice.
Once you feel like you've gotten everything
you just slam this thing back...
... & Voilà!
*gulping sounds*
ahhhh
Now that's good coffee.

Ordering Coffee at Starbucks | Learn English - Duration: 4:30.
Today we're going to learn how to order a coffee in English perfectly.
So we're going to look at all the useful phrases and any special vocabulary you need.
Ordering coffee can be quite intimidating, but don't worry guys because I'm going to
give you all the English phrases you need so that the next time you order your coffee
you are going to be super confident.
The first thing the barista will ask you is 'What would you like?' or 'What can
I get you?' and this is when you order.
In Starbucks you can get your drink made exactly as you want it.
So therefore there are a few things you need to think about when you are ordering.
Now on the side of the cup the barista has a series of boxes that they will complete
depending on what you order.
Like this.
So we're going to look at these boxes and help you to describe the type of drink that
you would like.
Here we go!
First of all you have got to choose if you want it hot or iced.
As well you can also ask for it extra hot, if you would like it even hotter than normal.
Next up is the size: small, medium, large.
In Starbucks small is tall, medium is grande and large is venti.
Tall.
Grande.
Venti.
The next box is your chance to ask for decaf.
Decaf is short for decaffeinated which means no caffeine.
Caffeine is the stuff that kind of gets us awake, kind of gives us a bit of energy, a
bit of alertness.
So if you don't want caffeine in your coffee you can ask for decaf.
The next box is for the amounts of shots of espresso that you want.
Espresso is the coffee, ok?
So you might ask for an extra shot, that's possible, so
'I'll have an extra shot'.
Or this is your chance to ask for more than normal so
'I'll have a triple shot latte' that means three shots of espresso in your
latte.
If you are just ordering an espresso by itself then you could say
'I'll have a single espresso' which is one shot or a double espresso which
is two shots.
The next box is for the syrups so things like caramel, hazelnut, vanilla things like
that.
The next box is for milk and milk comes in lots of different types.
So you've got full fat milk which is the most fat.
You've got semi-skimmed and you've got skinny.
In Starbucks when you want the milk that has the least fat you can say skinny so 'I'll
have a skinny latte' is a latte made with low fat milk.
So full fat, semi-skimmed or skinny.
You can also ask for extra foam or no foam.
Foam is the fluffy stuff, the bubbly stuff that they put on top of your drink.
So you could say 'I don't want any foam'
or 'Can I have extra foam' this is when you do
it.
And the final box is for your drink so if you want a cappuccino, latte, mocha, frappuccino,
flat white this is when you ask for it.
Now you could order all of those together.
You could say for example 'I'll have an extra hot, grande, decaf, triple shot, caramel,
skinny latte' You could say all of that in one go but it
would be a bit complicated.
So here's a way to do it that's a bit easier.
So firstly we want some phrases to order politely.
We've got four.
I'd like, Can I get, I'll have and I'd love.
All of those are great.
So I would start off with the essentials, I'd say 'I'd
love a venti caramel latte and can I also get an extra shot please?'
So I would start off with the basics 'I'd love a venti caramel
latte' and then if I want to add anything extra I would say 'and can I get an extra
shot please?'
So yeah, so that's probably what I would do.
I would give them the basics and then add any extra information afterwards
otherwise your order will be super long.
So the barista will say 'sure thing' or 'of course' and then they'll ask you a really
key question.
'Is that to have here, or to go?'
So that means do you want to have it in Starbucks or outside.
Also to take away is also often used.
So is that to have here or to take away, both are fine.
Then they'll give you the price.
They'll say 'That'll be...' and then the price.
So 'That'll be two pounds fifty' or 'That's two pounds fifty' If you are paying with cash
when you give them the money you could say 'Here you are' or 'Here you go' or just 'thanks'
is perfectly fine.
And at the end they'll probably say 'Have a good day' or 'Have a nice day' and you can
reply 'You too' which is basically saying I'd like you to have a nice day as well.
Guys we are ready to order coffee.
Now you can try to practise the conversation in our app.
If you haven't downloaded our app yet, please download it.
