"Everybody in this entire process and everybody in the state of Texas never wants to see another

occasion where innocent children are gunned down in their own schools."

Nearly two weeks after a shooting at Santa Fe High School left 10 people dead, Texas

Gov. Greg Abbott laid out his new strategy to address school safety.

During an event at the Dallas Independent School District's administration building,

Abbott said he wants to implement "school hardening strategies" — like reducing the

number of entries and exits at schools and installing active shooter alarm systems.

Abbott's strategy also calls for more school marshals, increased law enforcement presence

at schools and active shooter and emergency response training.

Abbott unveiled the new plan just one day after he visited Santa Fe High School.

It was the first day the school had been open to students since the May 18 shooting.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott rolls out plan to arm teachers, beef up police presence in the wake of Sante - Duration: 4:29.

To stop the scourge of school shootings, there need to be more armed people in the nation's classrooms, Texas Gov

Greg Abbott said Wednesday as he unveiled a 43-page plan to beef up school safety in the wake of the Santa Fe massacre

Abbott, a staunch pro-gun Republican with an A rating from the National Rifle Association, proposed deploying more armed law enforcement officers to schools, while also expanding the so-called school marshals program, which allows gun-trained teachers to carry weapons

Advertisement "This plan is a starting point, not an ending place," Abbott said during a news conference in Dallas

"It provides strategies that can be used before the next school year begins to keep our students safe when they return to school

This plan will make our schools safer and our communities safer." Abbott's "School and Firearm Safety Action Plan" immediately provides $120 million for increased law enforcement presence and training for armed teachers

Furthermore, the plan suggests implementing a "zero-tolerance" policy for students who threaten teachers or their classmates, lowering the threshold for expellable offenses and have students undergo more rigorous mental health screenings

The plan only includes one gun control proposal: to "study" efforts to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people — "but only after legal due process is allowed to ensure Second Amendment rights are not violated

" Abbott's plan of action came one day after students at Santa Fe High School returned to class for the first time since 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis killed 10 people there on May 18, according to authorities

Pagourtzis, who's been charged with capital murder, is accused of gunning down his classmates and teachers with a shotgun and pistol that belonged to his father

Abbott's proposal to put more guns in the hands of teachers echoes rhetoric pushed by President Trump and the NRA

Gun control advocates and scores of educators have ripped the idea as dangerous and counterintuitive

Abbott said a survivor of the Santa Fe shooting endorsed the controversial proposal

"As one Santa Fe student said…arming teachers and not knowing who is armed, that is what we need," the governor said

"When an active shooter situation arises, the difference between life and death can be a matter of seconds

Trained security personnel can make all the difference." There have already been 23 school shootings this year in which people have been hurt or killed, according to statistics

Accounting for the victims of the Santa Fe shooting, more students have been killed from gun violence in schools this year than members of the U

S. military in combat zones.

Scoliosis Treatment Plano, TX | Scoliosis Doctor | Texas Health Spine and Orthopedic Center - Duration: 3:11.

I'm Dr. Blake Staub. I'm a neurosurgeon. I specialize in minimally invasive spine

surgery as well as complex revision surgery and deformity surgery. So a

patient with scoliosis you know first and foremost is treated conservatively.

Whether it's physical therapy, core strengthening exercises, injections,

medications, etc, you know, we really try to avoid surgery at all costs. In general

if you have a big curve in your back whether it's degenerative or whether

it's from when you were a child really the only way to straighten the

spine is doing a fusion procedure. To do a fusion we used what's called

pedicle screws. Screws that go into the bone and then connect those screws with

rods on each side of the spine and and we do this to help straighten

the spine and hold it in place. Just like when you break your arm, you either get a

cast or a little plate put on the broken bones to hold it stable while the bones

heal, we have to do the same thing in your back. So the fusion itself is not

actually the rods and screws. The fusion is what your body does for the six

months to a year after we do the procedure. Your bones will then mend

together and actually fuse. The process of putting in the rods and

screws is simply an internal brace to keep your spine stable while the bones

are mending together. You know, 30 to 40 years ago they would do the same surgeries we

do now to straighten the spine but they didn't have the rods and screws so they

would put you in a basically an entire body cast to hold you stable and then

you'd have bed rest for six months. Now, obviously as technology's progressed,

we use these rods and screws as an internal brace and you're up walking, you

know, the day after surgery and it allows you to function as a normal human being

while your body is healing from the inside out.

Can I be Drug Tested in Court? --- Texas Criminal Defense Attorney Eric Benavides - Duration: 1:01.

my name is Eric Benavides and I'm a Texas criminal defense lawyer I want to

talk to you today about the possibilities of being drug tested in

court. My clients asked me all the time could I

potentially be drug tested when I go to court and the answer is yes you could.

Now the chances are higher if you're on pretrial conditions or if you're out on

a PR bond and somebody's checking in on you while your case is pending. You can

also be sent for a drug test if you show up late to court or if you do something

that causes the judge to become upset with you, these are bond conditions that

the judge can check on. Now the courts understand that you could test positive

for certain drugs for up to 30 days, such as marijuana, but they will give you time

to clean up but if you test positive after that amount of time you run the

risk of losing your bond. So the answer is yes you could potentially be drug

tested, so after being arrested you should stop using drugs because using

drugs could land you in jail.

We're asking San Antonians what they would say to our politicians in Austin

I feel like, over the 20 years I've been doing this, that less and less funding is going to public education

And less and less support

I do not believe that our legislative body is doing enough for public education.

Really look at the funding and the support.

I teach in Northside in San Antonio and in Bexar County and we have a big "Go Public" campaign

Going on there just to support public education, and what we do with educators and how the effects our

Our young people and our country really

There is not support in politics for public education right now
