Over in the United States.
Hurricane Harvey caused a second landslide near the border of Louisiana and Texas.
The storm is expected to weaken as it makes its way inland by Thursday.
Cho Sung-min has the latest.
Tropical storm Harvey made second landfall in eastern Louisiana near the Texan border
on Wednesday morning local time, continuing to drench region as it did since first making
landing on last Friday.
Louisiana reacted quickly by boosting its emergency resources, bringing in twice the
amount of water vehicles, boats, and helicopters.
The hurricane is expected to dump at least 7 to 15 centimeters of rain while making its
way from Louisiana into western Kentucky.
Harvey has caused enormous damage in Texas since it arrived ashore on last Friday,...
killing at least 18 people and forcing tens of thousands of people to leave their submerged
homes.
It brought record rainfall that caused catastrophic flooding, especially in Houston, America's
fourth-largest city.
The estimated total damage is in the tens of billions of dollars, making it one of the
costliest natural disasters that the U.S. has ever seen.
However, a glimmer of hope was spotted for the first time in the last five days... as
authorities said the floodwaters in Houston are slowly receding in some areas.
The National Hurricane Center also said the storm's effect will start to weaken from Wednesday
night local time, and eventually die off by the time it reaches Mississippi by Thursday.
