Liverpool medical team travelling to Monaco to complete Thomas Lemar swoop - report

According to Spanish publication Marca, the Reds have sent a team to Monaco ahead of fitness tests. France international Lemar is a major target for Jurgen Klopp ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline.

Liverpool are in talks with Monaco and have already had a £60m bid knocked back. Starsport understand they are ready to up their offer to £75m.

But Liverpool face a race against time to wrap up a deal for Lemar, who is currently holed up at Frances training base Clairefontaine in the north of the country.

It has been reported that Lemar is not considered a direct replacement for Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho. But Nou Camp chiefs have been encouraged by Liverpool's late flourish in the transfer window.

In addition to their pursuit of Lemar, a deal has already been agreed to snap up RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita next summer. Marca claim Liverpool have told Coutinho he can join Barcelona once Lemar has been signed.

But the Catalan giants are likely to be left with limited time to conclude a transfer. Paris St-Germain winger Angel Di Maria is also being targeted by Barca.
