SPEAKER: Ask anybody to name the first mid-sized family
sedan that pops into their head and they'll probably
say the Toyota Camry.

The Camry is one of the most popular vehicles in the US
and it's Toyota's top selling model.
And for 2018, Toyota decided to completely redesign it,
and it's the car you see here.
Sleeker, lower slung, the new styling
is anything but vanilla.
And under that new skin is a stiffer
body and new rear suspension, which
afford improvements in both ride quality and handling.
Toyota still offers a V6 engine that
will spin the wheels to the tune of 301 horsepower,
but the base four-cylinder engine is not
only way more fuel efficient, but it feels like a better
balanced choice in this case.
For those looking to buy a 2018 Camry,
we'd recommend going with the mid-grade SE model.
It's four-cylinder powered, and it also
comes with a sport tuned suspension, keener steering,
18-inch wheels, paddle shifters and a goody bag
of other standard features.
We stand by our recommendations, which
is why we got an SE model of our own
to live with over the next year.
Is this the best Camry Toyota has ever built, and more
importantly, does it deserve to keep
its lofty position within the midsize sedan segment?
We'll answer these questions and more
over the next 20,000 miles.
