In this video, we're going to be doing a speed jump rope tutorial, to help you jump faster.
Hey what's up, Leon here helping you achieve your fitness goals fast with a jump rope.
Here on this channel we do a lot of jump rope tricks tutorials as well as jump rope workouts
and jump rope reviews.
So if you're new to this channel consider subscribing.
Jumping rope faster will definitely increase the intensity of your workout.
Thus helping you burn more calories and getting your workout in.
It also makes jumping rope as a sport funner and more entertaining to do.
To be able to unlock your speed demon, we're going to have to look at three things. The
first on is which jump rope are you using.
The second one is how to position your hands to turn the rope faster.
The third one is how to jump faster.
Also be sure to stick to the end of the video as I'll be sharing an observation I see professional
jump ropers do when doing the speed challenge at competitions.
At any time during the video consider checking out the show notes that will be written down
in the description below.
There I'll be writing everything I'm saying here so it's easier for you to follow along.
So what jump rope are you using?
If your goal is to go really fast the jump rope to use is really important.
Because you have different jump ropes that serve different functions.
There's a difference between running shoes, powerlifting shoes, and climbing shoes.
Which is why I would recommend you to use a speed rope when trying to go fast.
How do you know which speed rope to buy?
Well I would recommend you to look for any jump rope that has a system that lets the
rope rotate freely.
Having a swivel system in your jump rope is going to cancel most of the friction you have
thus making the cable turn faster.
Speed ropes come in many different shapes and forms, some of them have thinner cables,
some of them have aluminum cables, and some of them have thicker cables.
My favorite cable is personally the Buddy Lee Aero Speed.
I made an entire video reviewing this exact jump rope.
So if you're interested into knowing more about it, why it is my favorite speed rope
consider watching this video.
When you're trying to go faster, you're going to want to reduce your center of mass.
Meaning you're going to bring your hands much closer to your body.
When you're in this position, you're going to want to contract your triceps and your
forearms just to secure of lock yourself in this position.
Because it's easy as your try to go faster to start opening your hands to activate your
shoulders to help you turn the rope faster.
This is a very common mistake which I think I will need to point out.
When you're opening your hands trying to go faster, you're actually shortening the rope,
thus decreasing your margins of error when you're going fast which is already pretty
small.
So now you've learned how to use your hands to turn faster, but if your legs can't catch
up, you can't do anything.
We all know that if you want to jump faster, you're going to have to jump lower.
This is common sense and I won't be explaining that because I don't want to be waisting your
time.
But as low as you jump, you're going to reach a point where your legs can't catch up with
the speed of your hands.
Which is when you're going to have to change something in your technique.
At this exact point, you're going to have to start jumping on one foot at a time.
It is very similar to doing the fire run.
Being able to do the fire run when jumping rope is going to open up a new window of speed
for you.
Being able to jump on one foot is going to require enhanced timing and some practice,
but once you're able to do that it's really going to help you go faster.
Now something you're going to see very often when watching jump rope competitions or when
you see more advanced people going faster with a jump rope, you're going to see that
they start leaning forward the faster they go.
And if you try it yourself, you're going to see that it works.
I actually have a question for you.
What is the fastest you have been able to jump rope in one minute.
I'm trying to now you guys so I'd like to know all those in the comments below.
So that was it guys, thank you so much for watching.
I hope you enjoyed this video.
If you did consider leaving a like behind you as this also helps me in return.
With this said, I will see you at the next video.
