Auto news on Youtube Oct 3 2018

I'm Stephanie Essin, and this is the Intel Developer Zone

update.

In this episode, we meet the winner of the Intel AI

Interplanetary Challenge and you'll

learn about a new IOT video series

from Intel you won't want to miss.

Intel recently announced Rosemarie Day

the winner of the Super Explorer Mission of the Intel AI

Interplanetary Challenge.

The challenge was intended for software developers, data

scientists, and students, who are

interested in applying Intel AI technologies to solve

space-related problems.

Participants submitted a wide range

of topics including ideas from AI for space debris cleanup,

to the effects of spaceflight on human and primate retinas.

Rosemarie is a graduate student studying data science

and has a special interest in the environment.

She is proposing uses in AI to classify plants.

More specifically, to analyze deforestation and growth

to give a detailed view of how the Earth is

changing over time.

The proposed solution includes building a model

with three different classifiers, location, plant,

and deforestation, using the Intel

optimization for TensorFlow.

Once the model reaches a certain threshold for accuracy,

it could make it so city planners, communities,

and scientists, could better analyze

additional areas of population growth, urbanization,

and migration patterns, based on what the images show.

She'll get to sit down over lunch with the challenge's

hosts, celebrity science personalities, Bill Nye,

and Star Trek Voyager actor and space

enthusiast, Robert Picardo.

Read more on this year's winner and get inspired

on new frontiers in AI.

The IOT Insights video series was just released

on the Intel Developer Zone, and is

for anyone interested in the latest Intel technologies,

tools, and software for computer vision, deep learning

inference, sensors, and cloud development.

It features the IEI tank AIoT Developer Kit.

Here's the breakdown of what the series has to offer.

Series one will cover what's inside the IEI tank AIoT

Developer Kit, the software included in the kit,

and a real world use case example using the OpenVINO

Toolkit.

Series two will focus on Mraa's higg-level programming

inference and how to utilize UPM libraries in your projects,

prototyping an embedded sensor solution in C++,

and using an industrial environment sensor and GPS with

intel System Studio IDE.

Series three will cover the OpenVINO Toolkit, the OpenCV

Library, and some deep learning reference implementations.

And finally, Series four will help you learn about IoT basics

and utilizing cloud services, using Azure IoT Web

Services on two different IDEs, Intel System Studio and Arduino

Create, setting up Amazon Web Services IoT, an IBM

quickstart, and Google Cloud IoT in Intel System Studio,

and the newly added Cloud Technology Explorer

in Intel System Studio.

Each series will give you tons of helpful resources as well.

Thanks for watching the Intel Developer Zone update.

We'll see you next time.

We Are Randox | Software Developer Aimee Cully - Duration: 1:01.

My name is Aimee Cully and I'm a Software Developer here at Randox.

I'm currently working on developing the software for the Randox QC platform.

I'd say the thing I like most about working here in the IT department is the team really.

Even when you're a new start you always get assigned a mentor,

someone to kind of show you the ropes as it was.

They'll take you round and introduce you to everyone on your first day.

They'll talk you through the software that you'll be working on

and they'll show you little bits and pieces. Anytime you're stuck you know

you always have someone you can go to.

A typical day here in our IT department

just usually starts off with our morning meetings. Then after that you just

kind of get stuck into your code.

A lot of it's working with C# or

JavaScript, typescript and all the database work - SQL server, things like that.

Everyone kind of gets stuck in and we all help each other and

you know if someone's stuck someone else will jump in and we all just

collaborate really well.

Ratings by MAQ Software - Power BI Visual Introduction - Duration: 3:02.

Today we are going to look at a new custom

visual: Ratings by MAQ Software.

You can use this visual to show ratings or scores in your reports.

Let's have a look at some of the features.

Ratings has three data fields.

First is the "Value" field.

This field is mandatory and represents the score that will be shown.

Second is the "Maximum Value" field.

This field represents the maximum total score.

If you enter a maximum value, ratings will be normalized.

Third is the "Tooltip" setting.

This is used to display additional information.

Now, let's look at an example of how to use this visual.

Here we have a dataset called "Employee Ratings."

The columns are "Department," "Employee ID," and "Ratings obtained."

The first example uses a triangle shape and shows the average ratings of all employees.

This example gives an average rating, out of 5, of all employees in a department.

The second example uses a star shape.

This example shows the average of employees in the "Development" department.

When a user hovers over the visual, a tooltip is displayed indicating the value.

Now, let's see an example with normalization.

In this example, you must enter data in both the "Value" and "Maximum Value" fields.

The normalization value is calculated by dividing the "Value" by the "Maximum Value,"

then multiplying by the number of indicators chosen.

For example, if the value is 10, the maximum value is 31, and the number of stars is 10,

the value divided by the maximum value times the number of stars is 3.2.

This signifies that 32 percent of the stars will be filled.

In this case, with 10 stars, 3.2 stars will be filled.

Now, let's look at the configuration features.

You can choose from four different shapes for indicators: stars, triangles, inverted

triangles, or circles.

You can choose to have between 3 and 10 indicators.

You can set the indicator color under the "Indicator Fill" tab.

You can also change the indicator background color and choose if you want to use a gradient

effect.

Next, you can choose to enable or disable the indicator border.

When enabled, you can configure the border color and width.

Finally, you can choose whether you'd like to animate the indicators.

Thank you for watching our video.

Calendar by MAQ Software - Power BI Visual Introduction - Duration: 5:00.

Calendar by MAQ Software is the most effective way to track your events in Power BI.

Calendar lets users: group events based on category,

color code events based on category, display events in month, week, day, and list

views, view event details with a single click,

set work days and hours, display an indicator for the current time,

and show additional information in tooltips.

To use this visual, you must provide data for the "Start date" and "Events"

fields.

The data in the "Start date" field indicates the date and time the event starts.

This field should be in "date-time" format.

The data in the "Events" field indicates the event's name.

This field should be in "text" format.

The "End date," "Event group," and "Tooltip" fields are optional.

The "End date" field indicates the date and time the event ends.

This field should be in "date-time" format.

The "Event group" field categorizes events into groups based on the values entered.

Events that are in the same group are given a common color.

To display additional data such as the organizer and organizer details, you can add items to

the "Tooltip" field.

Once the mandatory data fields are in place, the visual is rendered.

For demonstration purposes, we have added sample data to the visual.

Let's have a look at some of the features of the Calendar Visual:

You can easily switch between "Month," "Week," and "Day" views.

Clicking on the "Today" button returns you to the current date with your selected

view settings.

You can choose to enable or disable the legend display.

You can also set the position of the legends to the top or bottom of the visual.

You can change the label color of the legend items.

And finally, you can change the legend text size.

Next, let's look at the "Data Colors" pane. You can use the "Data Colors" options to change

the colors of events.

You can add further customization by categorizing events based on event groups:

Categories of events can be grouped together by selecting the same color for each event

in the category.

The groups are reflected in the events box.

In the events pane, you can also change the font colors and border colors of the event

cards.

As I mentioned earlier, you can view the calendar in "Month," "Week," "Day," or

"List" view.

You can disable any of the views by toggling "on" or "off" for a particular view

in the formatting pane.

Work hours are visible in the "Week" and the "Day" views.

You can set active work hours by entering the start and end time in the "Work

Hours" pane.

Active work hours are then highlighted in white, and the rest of the hours are greyed

out.

To set active work days, toggle each day "On" or "Off" in the "Work Week" preference pane.

Non-work days are then greyed out.

The default active work week is set from Monday to Friday.

You can also change general Calendar settings in the formatting pane.

For example, you can choose which day the work week starts on.

The default value is set to "Monday."

You can choose whether you'd like the calendar to indicate the current time using a red line

in the "Week" and "Day" views.

The "Enable Navigation" link option lets you navigate between different views by clicking

the date or week number.

The "Show Week Number" option lets you view the week number along the left side of the

visual in the "Month," "Week," "Day," and "List" view.

Finally, the "Enable right-to-left" layout option switches the calendar navigation arrows from

right to left.

Calendar by MAQ Software provides a streamlined solution to view all of your events in a single

visual with many customizable display options.

Thank you for watching our video.

If you have any questions about this visual or need a similar business solution, please

contact us at sales@maqsoftware.com.

We Are Randox | Software Developer Conor Murphy - Duration: 1:01.

Randox was actually somewhere that stood out for me a bit more than other places

because it's a diagnosis company, which means that I knew I'd be working

in a field that was different than maybe a lot of other developers

would be working in.

The Randox Science Park is a brand-new state-of-the-art biohub

with glass walls, open-plan offices and interactive widescreen TVs.

We have huddle rooms and two canteens and the car park outside which is pretty handy.

New technologies are always becoming readily available.

So we all have state-of-the-art high-tech machines and dual monitors to work off as well.

We're always looking for new members of the team and I know from

started here myself that they were extremely welcoming.

I definitely recommend it.

We Are Randox | Software Developer Peter Lynas - Duration: 1:00.

My favorite thing about working here, I would say, is really the learning process.

I mean technology, it doesn't stay still, it's always changing.

Even for working with a specific language, that changes.

It never stays the same so there's always new features coming in.

We'll get requirements coming in maybe every week, or new features need to be added in.

So we need to really be able to meet that demand and just work quickly to get those in.

It's not the kind of job where you learn how to do something exactly

and think "Well this is what I'm going to do every single day now

for the rest of my life."

You come in every day, you're always going to

learn something new basically and every day there's new tasks,

new requirements coming in. So you're never going to sit twiddling your thumbs

looking for something to do. There's always going to be something you could be working on.

Definitely it's a great place to work so I definitely recommend

anybody come here who is interested in being a software developer.
