Sometimes you see some art in Barcelona that stimulates your needs ;-)
Hi and welcome. This time from the Spanish beach hotspot.
Barcelona.
It's one of the biggest tourist hotspots in Europe.
There are less than 2 million people living here, but also 8 to 9 million tourists who visit Barcelona every year.
Unbelievable.
That causes a lot of frustration.
Many residents want to get rid of the tourists and you see these stickers everywhere.
I understand that this city has such a big attraction. Here you have the beach...
...really nice food...
...the culture and the beautiful buildings...
...and the crazy nightlife.
The legacy of architect Gaudí is beautiful.
Look at these buildings at Passeig de Gràcia.
Casa Mila is best known and you can conclude that he is more popular after his death than during his life.
Every day there are thick rows in front of the door of Casa Mila.
If you can't get enough of it, then you also have the Sagrada Familia.
The church that isn't finished yet.
The Egyptians spent 20 years for building the pyramids..
... and they need here 200 years to build one church ;-)
Where church attendance is decreasing all over the world, is it here busy every day.
And you have Park Güell.
Where you have to pay now. Around 8 Euro.
It remains a sad story about how Gaudi died.
He was hit by a tram in the center of Barcelona.
Because he looked unkempt and nobody recognized him, nobody wanted to take him to the hospital.
How sad.
1992 is perhaps the most important year for this city, because then the Olympics were held here.
They have refreshed the city and connected the beach with the city.
They have also built Metro line 4 (yellow line) and you can enjoy it every day.
He drops you off at Villa Olympia or Barceloneta and then you walk straight to the beach.
If you want a beach with less tourists then go to Playa del Bogatell a few stops further.
The best way to travel trough the city by metro.
The network is very extensive and it also runs at night on weekends.
Perfect to come home after a wild night ;-)
An advise from me is tot buy a T-10 card, then you can make 10x a single trip for about 10 Euro.
That saves you 1 Euro each way.
Many people walk here because they are afraid of traffic.
A car accident happens every 19 seconds.
Watch out if you cross the street, because they are driving crazy!!
This is the most famous street in the city La Rambla.
It isn't my favorite street and I never come here, but I want to show it to you...
...so you know that you can skip this street.
You can buy souvenirs at the top price.
Beside La Rambla you find the old Gothic quarter and it's really beautiful.
This is one of the coolest viewing points at Plaza de España.
It's free!! :-)
The first part is with the escalators, but after that you have to burn some calories.
Are you ready for a special dinner? I prefer to go to Torre d'Alta Mar.
A tower with a restaurant at the top with this amazing view.
