US NEWS | Texas Secretary of States possible voter fraud statistics that Trump touted still being co

Days after President Trump used statistics from the Texas Secretary of State to reignite fears of voter fraud, the state office is trying to actually confirm the numbers.

Late last week, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that his office is working with the Secretary of State to investigate 95,000 voters who were flagged in its system as having previously provided the Texas Department of Public Safety with documentation including a work visa or green card that showed they were not a citizen.

Every single instance of illegal voting threatens democracy in our state and deprives individual Texans of their voice, Paxton said in a statement.

Nothing is more vital to preserving our Constitution than the integrity of our voting process, and my office will do everything within its abilities to solidify trust in every election in the state of Texas.

Trump latched onto the numbers Sunday morning.

These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg, he tweeted. All over the country, especially in California, voter fraud is rampant. Must be stopped. Strong voter ID!

But by Tuesday, the secretary of states office was already walking back the statistics.

Five Texas counties — Harris, Travis, Fort Bend, Collin and Williamson — have been told that the 95,000 number included a substantial number of voters who have since become citizens, Douglas Ray, a special assistant county attorney in Harris County, told the .

Its still unclear exactly how many of the 95,000 individuals flagged do not actually belong on the list of suspicious voters.

As part of the process of ensuring that no eligible voters are impacted by any list maintenance activity, we are continuing to provide information to the counties to assist them in verifying eligibility of Texas voters, the secretary of states office said in a statement to the Daily News.

This is to ensure that any registered voters who provided proof of citizenship at the time they registered to vote will not be required to provide proof of citizenship as part of the counties examination.

The statistics reported by the Secretary of State and Attorney General also include elections from 1996 to 2018, which Trump did not specify in his Sunday tweet.

HOT | Texas Officials Claim About Citizenship of 95,000 Is Called Into Doubt The New York Times

A claim made last week by the Texas secretary of state — that had a citizenship status that could not be determined — appeared to fall apart on Tuesday when local election officials said many of the people were known to be United States citizens.

Some registered to vote when they applied for a drivers license at the Texas Department of Public Safety, which requires them to prove citizenship status to state officials. Others registered at naturalization ceremonies, a data point to which state officials said they did not have access.

Election officials in Harris County, home to Houston, said they received 30,000 names — the largest single batch of potential noncitizen voters — from the secretary of states office on Monday. By Tuesday afternoon, they had determined that roughly 400 of those names were duplicates and 60 percent so far of the others were United States citizens.

We are not willing to conclude at this point that we know of anybody on this list who is not a United States citizen, Douglas Ray, special assistant attorney for Harris County, said. We may determine that at a later time, and we are going to investigate that very carefully, but as you can tell by the numbers, so far things aint looking good for this list, referring to the states claim.

Local officials reported similar findings on Tuesday in Fort Bend County, outside of Houston; Travis County, home to the state capital, Austin; and Williamson County, outside of Austin. All said they had been instructed by the secretary of states office on Tuesday to disregard the names of voters who registered at state public safety offices.

On Tuesday, the office of David Whitley, who was appointed secretary of state in December by Gov. Greg Abbott, said in a statement that it was continuing to work with local officials to assist them in verifying eligibility of Texas voters.

This is to ensure that any registered voters who provided proof of citizenship at the time they registered to vote will not be required to provide proof of citizenship as part of the counties examination, the statement said.

In an announcement last Friday, Mr. Whitleys office questioned the citizenship status of 95,000 voters. That finding grew out of an 11 month investigation by the secretary of states office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, which declined to comment on Tuesday.

Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican who has , quickly amplified that announcement with a pledge to investigate the names on the list. A spokeswoman for his office did not respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.

Democrats and voting rights advocates expressed skepticism about the states claims last week, pointing to the possibility of administrative error as well as the states history of voter suppression.

Voter registration in many Texas counties is handled by the tax assessor, a holdover from the Jim Crow practice of collecting a poll tax, Mr. Ray said. Poll taxes were abolished by the 24th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1964.

Kristen Clarke, the president of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, called the problems that arose on Tuesday an unsurprising development. She said Mr. Paxton had been reckless and irresponsible to race forward with broad, sweeping allegations without conducting full, due diligence.

Another group, the League of United Latin American Citizens, filed a federal lawsuit on Tuesday that accused Mr. Paxton and Mr. Whitley of violating the federal Voting Rights Act.

Mr. Davis, in Williamson County, said his office received a list of 2,067 names this week, including 34 duplicates. It began a very methodical and very deliberate and careful investigation into the remaining names and found many whose citizenship was not in question.

We found some records where two things existed at once, Mr. Davis said. One was the D.P.S. had identified them as potential noncitizens, but also these same people had registered to vote at the D.P.S. and so had been verified to be citizens.

Compounding problems for local officials is the fact that the so called list is not actually a list.

John Oldham, the elections administrator in Fort Bend County, said four of his employees were combing through documents related to 8,035 people that his office received on Monday.

In Travis County, Bruce Elfant, the tax assessor collector and voter registrar, said his office was trying to organize the jumble of information it received on 4,500 voters into a usable format. He said that even a cursory review of the information they received turned up a significant number of people who the secretary of state has now told them to remove.

I said to the secretary of states office this morning, It would have been nice if you sent it in a spreadsheet, he said. They told me, Well, we didnt. A lot of things would have been nice, I guess.

\f0\fs24 \cf0 Hi my name is Umar Saeed, I am one of the physicians here at Urgent Care

of Texas. We are a chain of 6 urgent cares across DFW area. Today I am going to introduce

you to a new fascinating tool that we have at our urgent cares called Biofire Syndromic

Testing. It tests for different kinds of bacteria and viruses so lets say you come to one of

our urgent cares with cough, cold, runny nose and we want to rule out flu. This helps us

diagnose 17 viruses and 5 bacteria if you have an upper respiratory infection. If you

come to us with vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea there is about 22 viruses, bacteria

and parasites that it can pick up and all this aids in such an accurate treatment where

we can decide if some one needs antibiotics or does not need antibiotics or even overuse

of antibiotics can be stopped that way. So we are finding this machine to be highly accurate.

Its probably, at an outpatient level, one of the best machines invented so far. It gives

us results within an hour and it gives us and you the peace of mind that we have the

correct diagnoses and accordingly the correct treatment as well. Thank you.}

Income Taxes for Limited Liability Companies (Texas LLC) - Duration: 4:14.

LLCs are responsible for federal income tax the same way individuals are.

Every year, you, as an individual, report your income to the Internal Revenue Service

and pay the associated taxes.

Well, LLCs have revenue also that needs to be reported to the IRS and the associated

taxes paid.

Now, how that revenue is reported and how those taxes are paid depends on the structure

of the LLC.

The rules for reporting and paying taxes come from the Internal Revenue Code, which is Federal

law.

This federal law doesn't exactly follow state law regarding LLCs.

Remember it's the Texas Business Organizations Code that allows for LLCs to be legal business

entities.

So, the IRS doesn't have rules specific for how LLCs are taxed.

The IRS does have rules for how individual people are taxed, how partnerships are taxed,

and how corporations are taxed.

This means that LLCs are either taxed by the IRS as an individual person, partnerships,

or corporations.

How do we know which way the LLC is going to be taxed?

By the number of people who are Members of the LLC.

If the LLC only has one member, the IRS taxes the income from the LLC as the income of that

one Member.

It's like the LLC doesn't even exist and the income belongs to that one member.

This is called a "disregarded entity".

The revenue of the disregarded LLC is reported on the single member's personal income tax

return.

If the LLC has more than one member, the IRS taxes the LLC income as the income of all

the members together, like a partnership.

Each member is responsible for paying income tax on that partner's share of the revenue.

This is called "pass through" taxation.

In this case, the LLC does have to prepare a tax return and a Schedule K-1 for each partner.

These are the default rules the IRS follows: "disregarded entity" for one-member LLCs;

and "Pass through" for LLCs with more than one Member.

But remember, I mentioned that the federal tax rules allow LLCs to be taxed as corporations.

Corporations are recognized by the IRS as their own individual entities.

Corporations file their own federal income tax return and pay the taxes on that income.

However, this results in a double taxation, because, when the Corporation pays a distribution

of profits to the owners, like paying a dividend to shareholders, the owners must report that

distribution as their personal income.

This is called a double tax, because taxes are paid twice, once at the corporate level

and a second time at the owner or shareholder level.

Small corporations can elect to be treated as Pass-through entities to avoid this double

taxation.

When a corporation makes this election, it is referred to as an "S-Corp".

This Planning Guide is designed to help you prepare for organizing a new LLC.

The Planning Guide is made up of 5 parts.

Each part has sections.

Each section has an instructional video.

These instructional videos start by explaining the underlying legal concepts for that section.

Each video also includes a demonstration for how to fill out that section of the planning

guide.

In each demonstration, I'll show you how I would use the guide to plan an LLC called

"Fake LLC".
