US NEWS | Texas Secretary of States possible voter fraud statistics that Trump touted still being co
Days after President Trump used statistics from the Texas Secretary of State to reignite fears of voter fraud, the state office is trying to actually confirm the numbers.
Late last week, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that his office is working with the Secretary of State to investigate 95,000 voters who were flagged in its system as having previously provided the Texas Department of Public Safety with documentation including a work visa or green card that showed they were not a citizen.
Every single instance of illegal voting threatens democracy in our state and deprives individual Texans of their voice, Paxton said in a statement.
Nothing is more vital to preserving our Constitution than the integrity of our voting process, and my office will do everything within its abilities to solidify trust in every election in the state of Texas.
Trump latched onto the numbers Sunday morning.
These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg, he tweeted. All over the country, especially in California, voter fraud is rampant. Must be stopped. Strong voter ID!
But by Tuesday, the secretary of states office was already walking back the statistics.
Five Texas counties — Harris, Travis, Fort Bend, Collin and Williamson — have been told that the 95,000 number included a substantial number of voters who have since become citizens, Douglas Ray, a special assistant county attorney in Harris County, told the .
Its still unclear exactly how many of the 95,000 individuals flagged do not actually belong on the list of suspicious voters.
As part of the process of ensuring that no eligible voters are impacted by any list maintenance activity, we are continuing to provide information to the counties to assist them in verifying eligibility of Texas voters, the secretary of states office said in a statement to the Daily News.
This is to ensure that any registered voters who provided proof of citizenship at the time they registered to vote will not be required to provide proof of citizenship as part of the counties examination.
The statistics reported by the Secretary of State and Attorney General also include elections from 1996 to 2018, which Trump did not specify in his Sunday tweet.

\f0\fs24 \cf0 Hi my name is Umar Saeed, I am one of the physicians here at Urgent Care
of Texas. We are a chain of 6 urgent cares across DFW area. Today I am going to introduce
you to a new fascinating tool that we have at our urgent cares called Biofire Syndromic
Testing. It tests for different kinds of bacteria and viruses so lets say you come to one of
our urgent cares with cough, cold, runny nose and we want to rule out flu. This helps us
diagnose 17 viruses and 5 bacteria if you have an upper respiratory infection. If you
come to us with vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea there is about 22 viruses, bacteria
and parasites that it can pick up and all this aids in such an accurate treatment where
we can decide if some one needs antibiotics or does not need antibiotics or even overuse
of antibiotics can be stopped that way. So we are finding this machine to be highly accurate.
Its probably, at an outpatient level, one of the best machines invented so far. It gives
us results within an hour and it gives us and you the peace of mind that we have the
correct diagnoses and accordingly the correct treatment as well. Thank you.}

US NEWS | Latino civil rights group accuses Texas officials of intimidating voters Politics
The suit from the national and Texas branches of the League of United Latin American Citizens against Texas Secretary of State David Whitley and Attorney General Ken Paxton came in response to statements from the two Republican officials saying Whitleys office had discovered about 95,000 potential non US citizens registered to vote in Texas.
The from Whitleys office said roughly 58,000 of those identified had voted in at least one Texas election and pledged to investigate and refer individuals who are registered improperly to county registrars for further action.
Domingo Garcia, president of LULAC, said in a news conference on Tuesday that the advisory was an attempt by Republicans in Texas to "cheat their way to power."
"Voter fraud is a lie," Garcia said. "Its a big lie made to disenfranchise primarily African American, Latino voters in Texas."
In a statement, Paxtons office said, "We look forward to defending Texas policy of assuring that each person on our voter rolls is actually eligible to vote."
CNN has reached out to Whitleys office for comment.
The announcement from Whitleys office last week about potential voter fraud raised familiar alarm bells in Texas and across the nation. President Donald Trump despite no evidence that it occurs outside of rare, individual instances.
Paxton took to Twitter to announce Whitleys findings, issuing a tweet that amassed tens of thousands of retweets by Wednesday morning.
"VOTER FRAUD ALERT: The @TXsecofstate discovered approx 95,000 individuals identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety as non U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in TX, approx 58,000 of whom have voted in TX elections. Any illegal vote deprives Americans of their voice," Paxton tweeted.
On Sunday, Trump seized on the numbers from Texas, saying without evidence that they were the "tip of the iceberg." He later retweeted Paxton as well.
"58,000 non citizens voted in Texas, with 95,000 non citizens registered to vote. These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. All over the country, especially in California, voter fraud is rampant. Must be stopped. Strong voter ID! @foxandfriends," Trump tweeted.
Whitleys announcement said his office would use state data on a monthly basis to "match potential non US citizens who have registered to vote" and then flag those registrations to the county level, where county voter registrars can "take action."
"Integrity and efficiency of elections in Texas require accuracy of our states voter rolls, and my office is committed to using all available tools under the law to maintain an accurate list of registered voters," Whitley said in a statement last week.
But Garcia, the LULAC president, said his groups initial review showed Whitleys evaluation was wrong and that a large share of the registered voters in the report were naturalized citizens.
LULACs legal complaint, filed in a Texas federal court, invoked a section of the Voting Rights Act forbidding voter intimidation and said Whitley and Paxtons efforts were an attempt to "intimidate legitimate registered voters from continuing to participate in the election process."
The system Whitleys office used to go through state data failed to take the naturalization process into account, the complaint said.
The suit asked for the Texas officials moves to be declared in violation of federal law and for a preliminary and permanent injunction barring the officials "from further actions in connection" with the advisory.
The American Civil Liberties Union and others who have long warned about such messages being used to limit voting access pushed back on the Texas officials claim.
Andre Segura, legal director at ACLU Texas, said that Texas did not know if the people flagged were actually noncitizens. The group said it had asked Texas to rescind the advisory and warned counties not to act on the advisory alone to "ensure that they do not act discriminatorily or infringe on the right to vote."

Income Taxes for Limited Liability Companies (Texas LLC) - Duration: 4:14.
LLCs are responsible for federal income tax the same way individuals are.
Every year, you, as an individual, report your income to the Internal Revenue Service
and pay the associated taxes.
Well, LLCs have revenue also that needs to be reported to the IRS and the associated
taxes paid.
Now, how that revenue is reported and how those taxes are paid depends on the structure
of the LLC.
The rules for reporting and paying taxes come from the Internal Revenue Code, which is Federal
law.
This federal law doesn't exactly follow state law regarding LLCs.
Remember it's the Texas Business Organizations Code that allows for LLCs to be legal business
entities.
So, the IRS doesn't have rules specific for how LLCs are taxed.
The IRS does have rules for how individual people are taxed, how partnerships are taxed,
and how corporations are taxed.
This means that LLCs are either taxed by the IRS as an individual person, partnerships,
or corporations.
How do we know which way the LLC is going to be taxed?
By the number of people who are Members of the LLC.
If the LLC only has one member, the IRS taxes the income from the LLC as the income of that
one Member.
It's like the LLC doesn't even exist and the income belongs to that one member.
This is called a "disregarded entity".
The revenue of the disregarded LLC is reported on the single member's personal income tax
return.
If the LLC has more than one member, the IRS taxes the LLC income as the income of all
the members together, like a partnership.
Each member is responsible for paying income tax on that partner's share of the revenue.
This is called "pass through" taxation.
In this case, the LLC does have to prepare a tax return and a Schedule K-1 for each partner.
These are the default rules the IRS follows: "disregarded entity" for one-member LLCs;
and "Pass through" for LLCs with more than one Member.
But remember, I mentioned that the federal tax rules allow LLCs to be taxed as corporations.
Corporations are recognized by the IRS as their own individual entities.
Corporations file their own federal income tax return and pay the taxes on that income.
However, this results in a double taxation, because, when the Corporation pays a distribution
of profits to the owners, like paying a dividend to shareholders, the owners must report that
distribution as their personal income.
This is called a double tax, because taxes are paid twice, once at the corporate level
and a second time at the owner or shareholder level.
Small corporations can elect to be treated as Pass-through entities to avoid this double
taxation.
When a corporation makes this election, it is referred to as an "S-Corp".
This Planning Guide is designed to help you prepare for organizing a new LLC.
The Planning Guide is made up of 5 parts.
Each part has sections.
Each section has an instructional video.
These instructional videos start by explaining the underlying legal concepts for that section.
Each video also includes a demonstration for how to fill out that section of the planning
guide.
In each demonstration, I'll show you how I would use the guide to plan an LLC called
"Fake LLC".
