HOW TO CUT THICK, HARD LONG TOENAILS - FULL TREATMENT EN ESPAÑOL?!?! (TURN ON ENGLISH CC) - Duration: 20:32.

Jonathan.: It is not easy to film the nails but ya…

Daughter: Can the camera see? Yes, yes it can see

Jonathan.: Yes, OK. Are you relaxed? Patient: Yes

Jonathan.: If you feel pain tell me, okay?

But we are going to try hard…I am going to try hard, very softly okay?

First I am going to cut all the nails, then we use a file with cold water to make the nails thin, okay?

So where are you guys from?

Son-in-law: From Venezuela Jonathan.: ¿From Venezuela? Ah Poor Venezuela!

Son-in-law: Yes, that is a disaster but we have been here for many years

Jonathan.: For how long?

Son-in-law y Daughter: Around 15 years

Daughter: We are going to be for 16 years

Son-in-law: We left many years before the disaster

Jonathan.: Mmmmm

Son-in-law: It has recently become chaotic

Jonathan.: Yes

We are going to do everything softly okay? And you can speak to me, don't be nervous!

Patient: No, I am not nervous

Jonathan.: ¿No?

Patient: Because you are saying that you are doing everything softly and I know you are going to do everything smoothly

Son-in-law.: You have an accent

Daughter: Kind of Puerto Rican

Son-in-law.: No, I would say almost a little Cuban tone

Patient: Yes?

Jonathan.: Ohhh ¿How do you know?

Daughter: I feel like it is a little Puerto Rican

Varios: No I feel like it is Cuban

Jonathan.: Cuban?

Son-in-law: Not Puerto Rican because they don't say "l's", he has a tone but he does pronounce the "l's"

Jonathan.: How is my Spanish?

Varios: Very good

Jonathan.: 3 years learning

Daughter: 3 years but very good

Jonathan.: Without class

Varios: No class? By yourself?

Jonathan.: The same story like always, like everybody else. What do you think?

Daughter. A girlfriend

Jonathan.: A wife

Now a wife!

Jonathan.: From Cuba!

You see????

Daughter: Yes sir

Jonathan: Yes you know

Daughter: Yes, because the Cuban accent is like that…

Jonathan.: It is like that?

Daughter: Yes

Jonathan.: That is what people tell me. "You Cuban?" No, 100% Canadian!

My dad is Filipino and my mom is German.

Varios: What a mix!

Jonathan.: Yes, like a mutt!

And the young lady? How are you?

Patient: Good

Jonathan.: Uhhh

Son-in-law: We are all 100% Venezuelan

Daughter: Yes, Venezuelan!

Son-in-law: Her too (their Granddaughter),she was born there

Granddaughter: Yes, I was born in Venezuela

Jonathan.: Yes?

Son-in-law: Yes, when we came here she was 5 years old

Jonathan.: 5 years old?

We are going to do this softly okay?

Are you okay?

I know it isn't easy!

Daughter: Does it hurt?

Son-in-law: Are you okay?

Patient: A little bit.

Jonathan.: A little bit but look, little by little!

The first few cuts are the hardest, after that it is easier below

Granddaughter: I know that, I was trying to do that but I wasn't strong enough

Jonathan.: You need something a little stronger

Daughter: What I saw happen was she tried (to cut the nails) since Michel (son-in-law) is very busy.

I go to look and imagine, I said "Mom, sorry I can not cut that"

Jonathan.: But you tried? (to cut the nails)

Daughter: She tried

Patient: She was not the one who cut my nails

Granddaughter:Yes, only that this week I did not have time

Jonathan.: What are you studying?

Granddaughter: I am studying Psychology

Jonathan.: What?

Granddaughter: Psychology

Jonathan.: Where?

Granddaughter: University of Toronto

Jonathan.: Congratulations, that is good!

Now this toe, this nail, very softly okay? Then afterwards with a file everything very thin, very normal, little by little

It is very important if it hurts you tell me okay?

Daughter: You need to tell him if it hurts!

Patient: Yes, yes if it hurts I will tell him but it has not hurt!

Daughter: Ok, very good

Patient: What's happening is that I can't watch because it makes me nervous

Daughter: Just like me!

[laughter]

Granddaughter: I got used to this

Daughter: Michel is the one who has gotten used to this

Granddaughter: I can't do it because my hand isn't strong enough

Jonathan.: Yes, it was a problem with the program (Chiropody school) with the girls, they did not have the strength to cut

Daughter: They didn't have the strength?

Jonathan.: No, because it isn't easy!

Daughter: No, it isn't easy at all

Son-in-law: Well there you would have been good because you have strength in the hands

Granddaughter: My mom has strong hands

Son-in-law: She grabs you and puts her hand on your shoulder and (inaudible)

(conversation between family members)

Jonathan.: Are you okay?

Patient: It doesn't hurt

Jonathan.: It doesn't hurt?!

Patient: [laughter]

Daughter: Nothing hurts? Jonathan.: It doesn't hurt?

Patient: No, it doesn't hurt

Jonathan.: If you feel something scream loud!

Patient: Of course, if it hurts I will go "ahhhhhhh"

Son-in-law: She is champ at that

Jonathan.: Champion eh?

Then, I want you to change your shoes immediately

Daughter: And I told her that she uses tight ones, notice that those that I bought you are big

Patient: You also have to return the ones that are there

Daughter: Which ones?… Oh! Thats right I have to return one of her shoes but not right now Grandma, those ones are big

Jonathan.: What?

Patient: No, he is saying they need to be round… Daughter: Where can we buy a shoe that you suggest for her?

Jonathan: Soft Moc, Square One, Sketchers, yes, Factory Shoes is a better place. You know this place? QEW and Winston Churchill

Son-in-law: Ah Yes, I know that store

Daughter: Ah very good then, I can go there and like he says round

Jonathan.: Round and wide

Jonathan.: It is very important you buy in her size, but wide width

Son-in-law: Bigger size?

Jonathan.: That doesn't work

Daughter: Ah that's what I have to do, a size that is wide but is also her size in length

Jonathan.: Sorry! Little by little, okay? That's what they say in Cuba, little by little!

Daughter: Little by little

Son-in-law: It goes far. A saying like that "little by little" you get far

Jonathan.: I am going to cut everything that is possible then we will use a file

OK? There is a lot of dead skin below

Patient: Is it really dead?

Jonathan.: Dead but you can still feel it

But look, it is much better

Son-in-law: Yes, at least it doesn't look like a horror movie

Granddaughter: Dad! That's wrong

Jonathan.: But imagine I spent my whole life in this office watching my dad

Son-in-law: Was it easy for you to choose this career?

Jonathan.: Yes!

(family talking about my foot models and which type of foot each person has)

Jonathan.: This foot is much easier

Daughter: My grandma's foot is like this…right? (pointing to foot model)

Jonathan.: The middle one

Daughter: The middle one? Oh

Jonathan.: The middle one

Flat like a plate

Son-in-law: I have the middle one

Granddaughter: And mine is like yours?

Daughter: That has a point (high arch)

Granddaughter: Yes! That is my foot too. I have a foot like yours

Daughter: Yes baby, you are truly my daughter

Son-in-law: But this is the most normal one, right? (talking about the medium arch foot)

Jonathan.: For caucasian people… for asians and africans, flat like mine

Son-in-law: Yes, my foot is almost flat

Jonathan.: It is?

Granddaughter: Dad your foot is flat!

Son-in-law: My foot is the middle one because the flat one is really really flat!

(talking about the anatomy of the foot)

Son-in-law: Tell me if this is true or not. If you have flat feet, you will have more problems?

Jonathan.: Many athletes have flat feet. Workers have flat feet,

Workers have flat feet,

the queens and the princes have higher arches

Son-in-law: High arches?

Jonathan.: Yes

Patient: That nail is buried into the skin, why?

Jonathan.: Yes, it is ingrown

This nail is separated from the skin

Son-in-law: The nail sticking up

Jonathan.: Up in the air

Like a building!

Granddaughter: That is much easier for me

Jonathan.: To cut this foot?

Granddaughter: The harder one is the other one

Jonathan.: So what's going to happen now…now you can cut and maintain the nails,

but when the nails get long like this again look at this (showing an emery board file), with a file

Granddaughter: It is very hard, that is the hardest part

[Inaudible]

Jonathan.: Ok, now we are going to use the file

that has a little water,

you will not feel pain, if you feel a little heat tell me and after that we are finished

And this is the very special part

You can't have something flat, you need something strong, no that

Okay, remember if you feel a little heat tell me

Right it is like a spa, a little water in your throne. Look! A little bit of water

I am going to remove the callus

and that is because the shoe is like that (not deep enough)

[Drill too loud to make out conversation]

In the house you need an open-toed sandal and wide

Daughter: But she doesn't want to use one

Son-in-law: But one that fits well

Jonathan.: Look

Daughter: Look mom

Jonathan.: Look. Now just a little callus here okay?

Like a real spa right?

One more foot! Thank God you only have two feet!

But I love practicing with all of you (my spanish), thank you very much!

Son-in-law: Your welcome

Jonathan.: And you understand me?

Son-in-law: The only thing is your cuban accent but you are perfect. You don't make grammatical errors

Jonathan.: No, just a few but better than nothing and the most important thing is that you understand me

Son-in-law: You know that, I do not know if you've noticed, but in Spanish when someone speaks to you from another language,

you make the effort to understand it.

In English if you don't pronounce it exactly, nobody understands you, "What are you talking about"

If you pronounce a bad vowel or something, there is no problem because everyone understands you

Of course I would tell you to help you to correct but in English

Jonathan.: No, because people don't have patience here

"If you don't speak my language, forget about it"

Son-in-law: Especially you know how we in Spanish the vowels always sound the same,

they do not change, and the vowel sounds the same each time,

That is the difficulty because when they go to learn English,

the different sounds of the vowels depend on the letter and all that,

and that's why it's so hard for people to speak in English and pronounce it wrong.

Jonathan.: But I want to improve my grammar,

verbs, verb tenses because I do not understand anything, it is very hard

Son-in-law: That part is completely different

Jonathan.: But I speak a little French

because I went to a French school all my life

and because of that when I started to learn Spanish it wasn't too hard

Son-in-law: But you realized that in Spanish if you learn the grammatical rules

apply in almost all cases, the differences are minimal, then it is easier to learn the rule and you apply

Jonathan.: Look, how lovely

Now just a little nail polish

Daughter: Exactly!

Jonathan.: Look at this nail, there is blood under the nail

because of all the pressure from her shoes (no history of trauma)

Son-in-law: Just like that

Jonathan.: Exactly like your toe… with time it will grow out

Son-in-law: Yes it is what you were saying about the nail growing out and the new nail growing from the bottom

Jonathan.: Are you good?

Patient: Yes

Jonathan.: Do you feel anything? Patient: No

Jonathan.: The hard part is knowing where the skin is underneath (the nail)

Varios: Deep

Jonathan.: This time it's going to be like this and in the future I will see if I can remove more nail,

but look much better!

Son-in-law: Much better!

Jonathan.: A little callous here

It's only a file

I am going to clean everything up

and we are good!

Plantar fasciitis Treatment - Dry Needling - Duration: 1:14.

Hi, I'm Danny from BioMechanic Physical Therapy.

Today we are talking about plantar fasciitis.

So Plantar Fasciitis is when the plantar fascia in your foot can be a little bit tight.

Sometimes what is causing that is your calf muscle being tight.

So your gastroc and soleus is in here.

So we like to typically use massage, heat and other modalities to kind of relax the

muscles.

But sometimes we like to use Dry Needling, which is using a little needle like this.

We stick the needle in there and we hope to get a twitch response and that will cause

the muscle to relax.

What we are doing when we do that is we look for what we call a trigger point, or what

you would call a knot in your muscle, just a tight spot right in there.

And put a needle in, and we are just going to go in and out a few times, just trying

to get a little bit of a twitch.

Once we do that we pull out the needle, we do massage, exercise, all the normal stuff

but hopefully it can make you feel better a little bit quicker.

Thank you for watching.
