- NARRATOR: It's another day in the office for the

Texas Parks and Wildlife Fisheries team in Rockport.

- JASON SLOCUM: We tend to leave about six.

We have long days on the water where we get

paid in sunrises and sunsets.

- NARRATOR: They're working the water to sample

species in the bay.

This information is used to manage sustainable populations

of shrimp, crabs and game fish.

- I've been working for Texas Parks and Wildlife

for 31 years now.

We sample year-round, no matter what the weather.

- NARRATOR: The crew will hit different sections of the bay

divided up into square-mile segments.

Each month, the Corpus Christi Bay Ecosystem team

collects 20 trawl samples in the bay and 16 trawl samples

in the Gulf off Port Aransas.

- Rain or shine or rough seas or calm seas,

we have to go out regardless.

- If the waves get big enough, everybody gets seasick.

That's what we signed up for, yeah, knew that going in.

- NARRATOR: After about an hour to get to the first stop,

the team is ready for action.

First step: collect water data.

Next, it's time to set the trawl.

- Trawls are large nets we pull on the bay bottom

in order to collect a sample of both

finfish and shellfish.

We collect this data the same way over long periods of time

so that we can establish population trends

over that time.

- NARRATOR: A sustainable shrimp industry depends on

these numbers to ensure shrimp is not over-harvested.

After a 10-minute circle around the site,

it's time to pull in the catch.

- I usually get anxious when the trawl's coming up

because once you throw it out there,

you really never know what you're going to catch.

- TAD: We get sharks and rays, crabs and squid,

a lot of squid.

- NARRATOR: Each species must be counted,

measured and recorded.

- JASON: 145, 137

- NARRATOR: Then they're returned to the bay.

And here's another tip of the trade...

- No bananas on the boat.

That's the big one.

- NARRATOR: It's an old sailor's superstition that

some think came from floating banana crates being

associated with shipwrecks.

- Something will break.

The engine will break or a fan belt will break

and we won't be able to run the boat.

- NARRATOR: So, no bananas, but several more hours of

trawling, collecting and counting.

- TAD: It's smelly.

It's physical.

It's tough.

- JASON: We get pooped on by seagulls.

The birds dive-bomb us all afternoon.

- NARRATOR: But it's not for nothing.

- We see that we used to catch a lot of this species,

but we're not seeing those anymore.

I wonder what's going on with that?

- Fishing and tourism, it's a big part of our economy here.

It feels good to know that you're working to keep that

going for future generations.

- Anybody have a favorite fish or shark out there?

- NARRATOR: Sometimes, the team saves species for the

local game wardens to use for educational events.

- GAME WARDEN: Pretty sharp teeth in there, huh?

Some kids have never been fishing before.

This is their first time seeing a fish.

A lot of them will probably go back and tell their parents,

"Hey, I got to hold a fish today,"

or, "I got to see shark teeth today."

Who knows what kind of crab this is?

You know, educate these kids at an early age, hopefully

they'll understand that they need to protect that resource,

so they'll have it when they get older.

- NARRATOR: That's why the Coastal team continues its

survey of the bay...

one trawl at a time.

- NARRATOR: This project was funded in part by a grant

from the Sport Fish Restoration Program.

Trayveon Williams NFL Draft Projection: Latest on Texas A&M RB's Stock | Heavy.com - Duration: 5:18.

Trayveon Williams NFL Draft Projection: Latest on Texas A&M RB's Stock | Heavy.com

The Texas A&M Aggies suffered some narrow losses during the 2018 season but emerged with a solid 8-4 record and a few eye-opening wins.

One main driving force behind their solid year was running back Trayveon Williams, who simply took over in some games to help the team get victories.

Williams, who's currently a junior, has caught the attention of NFL draft analysts and could be set to make the leap to the next level.

Williams has totaled 1,524 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns this season.

He enters a matchup in the Gator Bowl against NC State with a chance to break the Texas A&M single-season rushing record, needing 172 yards to do so.

It's become incredibly apparent that the 5-foot-9 running back has upside, and the proof of that comes from his eight games with 100-plus rushing yards this season.

We're going to take a look at the latest on Williams' current draft stock and the projected round he may come off the board.

Let's start off with what analysts have said about him.

Trayveon Williams' NFL Draft Stock.

While Williams has been productive as a runner, his playmaking ability could make him a solid change-of-pace back at the NFL level, which Draft Tek confirmed in their rankings.

They break down running backs by "featured" and "change-of-pace" options and had the Texas A&M standout listed as the No.

2 ranked player in the latter section.

It seems the ESPN analysts are somewhat split on Williams when it comes to his draft status, though.

While Mel Kiper Jr. has him as the No.

6 overall running back in the class, Todd McShay didn't place the Aggies playmaker in his top-10.

With a variety of opinions coming to this point, it seems Williams' draft stock could potentially be impacted by how he performs at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Trayveon Williams' NFL Draft Projections.

While we saw Kiper list Williams among his top running backs, the popular consensus seems to have the electrifying runner as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent.

Walter Football called Williams a good college player, but stated that "his skill set is not likely to translate well to the NFL.".

They also have him projected as coming off the board in the sixth round-to-undrafted range, stating that he's viewed more as a potential backup at the NFL level.

"In speaking with sources, they are projecting Williams to the late rounds.

While being small, Williams doesn't have power or run big.

He is not a mismatch guy in the passing game.

They see him as more of a backup and special teams contributor.".

This goes along with somewhat of a common theme, but although Williams may not be a high draft pick, his playmaking ability will likely be tough for teams to pass on.

Time will tell, but it's hard to ignore a player who's produced to this level, making him a name to monitor.

Father of Texas Girl Killed in Drive-By Shooting Makes Emotional Appeal: 'Put Yourself in My Shoes' - Duration: 3:30.

A grieving father has asked for the public to come forward and assist police in their continued search for the gunman who killed his 7-year-old daughter near a Walmart outside of Houston early Sunday morning, PEOPLE confirms.

"I just want anybody, whoever, out there that knows anything about the murder of my daughter, to just please step up as if it was your own," said Christopher Cevilla, addressing news cameras during a press conference, Monday, on the drive-by shooting that killed his little girl, Jazmine Barnes.

"Just put yourself in my shoes — in my family's shoes," Cevilla implored.

Jazmine was with her mother and three siblings shortly before 7 a.m. local time on Sunday when investigators say a man pulled up next to them in a red or maroon pickup truck.

The suspect fired several shots at the vehicle. One bullet found Jazmine, killing her instantly.

The girl's mother, LaPorsha Washington, 30, was shot once in the arm. Jazmine's 6-year-old sister sustained injuries caused by shards of broken glass. Two teens who were in the car escaped uninjured.

Police are still trying to determine if the shooting was random or if the shooter targeted the car specifically.

The shooter is described as a bearded white male in his 40s. He was wearing a red hoodie at the time of the shooting.

Washington spoke with local news station KTRK from her hospital bed. She said the bullets "came through my window, broke my glass, and hit me in my arm." Then, the shooter "sped off in front of us and stopped, and still continued to fire at us."

Washington told KTRK the gunman "intentionally killed my child for no reason. He didn't even know her. He didn't even know who she was."

The station reports that Jazmine was enrolled in the second grade at Monahan Elementary in Houston.

At Monday's press conference, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez spoke to the shooter, encouraging him to turn himself over to authorities, warning: "We're going to find you."

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Jazmine's relatives.

Anyone who may have relevant information is asked to call 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Anonymous tips can also be left online at Crime-Stoppers.org.
