The beauty about science is that it's always changing. The thing that changes is

technology - how do you do things. And sometimes the technology doesn't exist

to be able to do what you want to do and then you develop the technology. If you

can't do something figure out how to do it!

That required me to have a hypodermic

that was very very small and a microscope to be able to see the cells,

and then to be able to put the needle into the nucleus, and then to deliver the

DNA into the nucleus. And next to me was Larry Okun, a colleague, and he was

using an instrument to actually record electrical currents in a cell. I looked

at his apparatus and it looked pretty much like a hypodermic needle to me. And

so instead of having a needle to record electricity then I would have a needle

that then would be able to contain DNA, and I could put some pressure into this

needle and then use as a hypodermic to put into the nucleus of a cell.

The tip of the needle is so small that I can't see it under this microscope. The

needle is about a hundredth as big as a hair maybe one-thousandth, somewhere in that

range, so it's a very small needle and you have to be very careful with it

because if you touch it on something it explodes. So you can't just

bzoom! And the microscope is what we call an inverted microscope. It's

actually looking at the image from bottom up. And the reason for that

is that we want to be able to play up at above but see from below. So it was

the first time that somebody had actually taken DNA, put it into a cell

into the nucleus, and then shown that it functions.

You know, this allows us to put anything you want into a cell. Proteins, you know,

you name it! And so then that's lit up a a light bulb, bam! If I could do that,

for example, in a mouse embryo, whoo! I could change any gene I want!

Well I think the machine was the right tool simply because it works. You

know, for a while I carried this thing around in a suitcase. I'd

give a lecture and then afterwards I'd pull it out like the Fuller Brush man and

show my ware and then show them how to do it. And that was important because

if I develop a technology and I'm the only person that can utilize it, it's

worthless. You're seeing cells you but can move them around and here's your

needle, boom boom boom, and they and you're doing one one after another. I got pretty

good at this machine I could do about a thousand per hour, worked 10 hours, so I

could do about 10,000 a day. And so I had Patsy Cline turned up high-volume, I've

take a lot of coffee, I'm a coffee addict, so then I'm really hypered up and then I

can really go. It's just like a video game. This is an antique,

but it's a cute antique.

yo Cupofans welcome back to another exciting episode on the cupochannel

thank you bus... hope you guys have had a fabulous time hope you guys are enjoying

the new content please do tell us in the comments below what you guys think

because we do this specifically for you today is actually a request video : one

second let me just get my phone out and Jeff mayne Jeff asked me a question on my

last post and his question was what's the difference between a cappuccino and

espresso lattes and like a Frappuccino in this video I'm just going to go

through the four different ones to explain what the difference is between

those let's do this as you can see over here this is a espresso machine I

the espresso machine is basically the machine that makes the espresso an

espresso consists of coffee beans

now coffee beans grind it down into about the thickness of table salt then

we tamp them down once it's tamp down it creates like a filter so it's basically

pressurizing the coffee together into a small little biscuits then we pop this

into the espresso machine

so Jeff this is an espresso as you can see the crema and the tiger stripes so

that's basically the purest form of coffee the way that the Italians drink

this when you go to Italy most Italians would probably consume around about 5 to

20 espresso's in one day a lot of people think it's very very unhealthy espresso

kind of relaxes you pushes up your back pressure we'll do a whole episode on

healthy benefits of coffee and obviously the unhealthy benefits of coffee and but

for now just an espresso you should always try and drink an espresso a bit

too you know before two and a half minutes after it was made because then

the crema goes away so the crema is basically that beautiful blanket on top

the question comes up quite a bit is why do you slurp islip the two reasons

reason number one I like getting the flavor of of the espresso or the coffee

onto my palate and with oxygen very similar to wine it pushes that flavor

really tight but the second reason why I slurp

especially on espresso's is it's hot and this baby comes out of about 72 to 78

degrees celsius and their Celsius and out of the machine which is fairly hot some

machines push out between 85 and 95 depending on where it is so when I slurp

this one now it was about 72 to 75 because I waited a little bit but so if

it's too hot it's gonna burn your palate or burn your tongue and then you can't

taste anything anyway so I like slurping for the flavor and of course to cool it

down next up would be a cappuccino

now of course well how did I start with the espresso well because that's the

purest form of coffee that we can take in and it is important to teach your

palate how to drink espressos if you really want to enjoy coffee, grind some

coffee tamp it down always now something interesting to note here is that a

cappuccino is also made with an espresso my espressos are wanton 24 seconds

especially with illy because that's just the prettiest flavor profile that you

can get on an extraction so there's an espresso inside so yes a cappuccino is

also made with espresso we take espresso and we add hot milk now this is

called a frother it basically is a little pipe that blows out steam called

milk we stick the frothers nozzle we stick it just into the milk just to

break the surface of the milk that when we open the frother it actually pushes

oxygen with the hot steam into the milk and then as soon as about the same

temperature as your hand you just pick it up and then you let it go until you

can't hold on to the cup for longer than two seconds anymore

then you notice the right temperature and hygiene always clean so now we've got

a beautiful frothed milk and we bump it a bit just to get all the bubbles out so

now down here you can see the espresso this side and the espresso for the

cappuccino on this side you basically swirl the milk around and

then pour it on top of the espresso to create a cappuccino

now the cappuccino has espresso at the bottom which about 25 to 35 milliliters

of espresso then we go about 80 to a 110 milliliters of milk with

about a centimeter of on top okay so now that we've got that just the

cappuccino over here if I take the spoon you can see that the frothe is fairly thick

that makes it a cappuccino now as I mentioned in my previous video if you

guys didn't see the video on the cappuccino yet do a go and check that out I

go into a lot more detail they we take the spoon pop it inside for a few

seconds just to make sure that the cappuccino is the right temperature that

I don't burn my tongue because this froth on top it actually kind of covers

the heat so the heat stays inside the cup for a lot longer so let's take a sip

at it much more creamy and a lot more subtle coffee flavor so that is a

cappuccino okay so now to the third one something you guys should realize by now

is almost everything is made from espresso so yes and espresso is the base

to every single type of coffee beverage out there so the next one that we're

doing is going to be the latte the latte is made slightly different now you'll

notice that now I extracted the espresso into a small little silver mob jug

there's a reason for that because when we serve a latte we serve a

espresso on the side so that the client can actually add the amount of coffee

flavor that they want to the milk beverage now latte in Italian is just

milk so a lotta is basically a milk beverage with a coffee flavor inside so

we need of course milk with the latte when you throw the milk you can actually

push a lot more oxygen inside to get it nice and foamy want to throw to be very

very thick now latte is normally served in a glass cup the reason for it is we

want the people to be able to see what's going on inside so you'll actually see

how much more how much they often exactly how much espresso you add to

your latte drink so let's make it

let's see the line over there so that's mulk that's the wrong so then

we add the espresso afterwards now there you have a beautiful picture get the

light there there you've got a beautiful picture of what a lotta would look like

now because this is a very milky drink you would normally add sugar to this or

what they used to do is they would throw cinnamon or a chocolate or cocoa powder

over the top so you can create that beautiful chocolaty smooth flavor of

course you can mix it up nicely

now that tastes a lot better and now for the last one the Frappuccino Frappuccino

I think was invented by Starbucks I think that kind of oh that owned that

right so do I make a proper Frappuccino I don't know I'm not sure exactly how

Starbucks makes their frappuccinos but this is our version of the Frappuccino

espresso okay so now we've got the espresso for the Frappuccino let's get

into making this one now a Frappuccino is basically consistent of what you need

for it again is a grinder some price the espresso and of course milk so the way

that produce a Frappuccino is for the ice

now some guys add water some guys add milk the milk one is nice

so Frappuccino basic is an espresso with milk and ice

that's what it looks like do I enjoy this one no I prefer nice

coffee for I prefer an espresso on ice Frappuccino

is drinkable but it's not my favorite so that is the difference between an

espresso a cup of Chino and latte and a Frappuccino hope you guys love coffee

more hope you guys enjoy coffee more if you enjoyed this video please give me a

WOW Embossing techniques coffee lovers blog hop - Duration: 18:09.

Hi I'm Gerry from Gerry's Craft Room In this video I'm going to make a card for

the WOW and coffee lovers bloghop because we had a fall/winter theme and we

should add a picture coffee, tea or cocoa I started with a colour scheme

I have 3 colours WOW I am going to use and I already cut the card and 2 layers to size

I have a double card base and the light yellow/cream colour that I will tape to the card

for the next layer I will add some embossing powder through a stencil

in this bloghop there are some fun prizes to win and I add the link to the blogpost

with all the info in the description box for you along with the products I used

and if you are new here don't forget to subscribe

I just pounce a bit on the stencil this way the ink gets in real well

and the inkpad doesn't get damaged

now I am going to apply 2 colours of WOW on the card

just sprinkle on a bit of the first colour and then shake of the excess

then add the second colour and shake off the excess again

and then heat set the powder with a heat tool

By the way if you feel inspired I always love to see your makes

so don't forget to use #gerryscraftroom when you share your work on social media

you can see it melting when the powder changes colour

for the next layer I embossed the cup image with a Fabscraps stencil

I have a video where I show you how you can emboss with stencils and I will link to that

I will cover the complete paper with embossing ink

and then sprinkle on the embossing powder and then I heat set it

Now I will colour the coffee cup and I add the stencil again to ink just the cup

because the cup is raised it's easier to ink it

then I sprinkle on the embossing powder and shake off the excess

and I melt it with the heat tool

I want some circles on my yellow card and I have another stencil

I blocked parts with sticky notes and I will add the ink through the stencil

on the card on a few places

then I sprinkle on the embossing powder to see where I want more circles

when I have enough circles I'm going to melt the powder

I distress the edges and mat the coffee cup card on dark brown cardstock

I distress all the layers and start adding them to the card

I add foam to the card with the cup on the back to create some dimension

here I decided I wanted another layer and I emboss the edges of a yellow/cream card

with the inca glintz I just add ink to the edges

as the middle will not be visible

and then I embossed the card with an embossing folder

you can do the dry embossing first and then heat emboss if you like

I have all my layers and now I want to add some burlap rope

I use the focal point to determine where I want the rope

then I decided I wanted a bit more colour

on the cup and I use a paper stump to add the ink

then I sprinkle on the embossing powder and remove the bits

that are outside the image just wipe them away

As I saw this worked fine I add some more ink and embossing powder on other parts

the added colour gives a fun touch to the cup

I added some foam to the back leaving space

in between for the rope and I finish with a hot cocoa sentiment because

I don't drink coffee or tea

make sure you check out the Giveaway on both the WOW blog and coffee lovers blog

because you never know when it's your time to win

I hope you liked the video don't forget to like, share and subscribe

I love to see you in the next video thanks for watching

The strangest, the coolest trade deal in my life

We're not going to drift

It was - 20 degrees on those weekend

Basazuku style shotgun, red beautiful light

Trunk with a dead body

Red Bull raglan I'm ready to raffle

Among all followers, follow by the way

Sound:check vibes:check

You know I've always loved adventures

That's why I'm going to tell you a story about

The coolest and the strangest trade of my life

Once a friend of mine wished me a happy new year

We haven't talk for 5 or 6 years befor

He wanted to buy Toyota Soarer, I was interested in it

He bought it but last few years just he has no time and money

To work on it. I love 2 things: bikes and cars

Soarer 20th I knew that in Moscow there're a few of them

He offered to sell me the car, but I don't have money now

But may be he is interested in some barter and hу agreed

Aтв ш decided to offer him my bike, it was such a crazy offer

But you never know, and this guy from Ekatirenburg told me

Btw the car was in Ekatirenburg, did I mention that?

I was really surprised when he agreed to change!

I bought tickets to Ekb, winter, - 25 С

I remembered that there's top dirt park in Ekb

Blackberry dirt park, check it, best dirt park in Russia

I understand that finally I have a chance to ride it,

And I take 2 bicycles at random, meet the guy and we trade

16 two part cast wheels painted middle

Beautiful red light 3.0 GT pic

Basazuku shotgun, very harmonic here

Trunk with dead body, 90-s.

The window - carbon fiber and max who is tired of me, yes?

Nice car, I think.

Not gonna tell about all the technical stuff, 1ggeu engine

Auto gearbox, fake steering wheel, dashboard projector

It doesn't matter, google it, what matters - it links great

I love such cars when they're a bit low, nipple level

Reliable, auto gear box, nay buttons, white, Japan originally

As you can see the wheel is on the right

Unique shotgun despite it's cool and shiny

It was made of table legs

There's unknot quantity of horse powers, really want to drift it

But there's the chance to kill the gearbox.

That's why we won't risk, or will. Max!

Tell about the car!

Despite it's 1987, we have waist adjusted waist support

Adjust of side support, usual seat can become a sport car sit

Signal: check. No twists, just buttons.

There's everything for comfort driving in the city and highway

Suspension hardness adjust, 3 gearbox modes: economic, neutral, power.

And of course overdrive. A lot of features here,

Smells like old men to be honest.

Let's talk about tuning. Seats - super, sport steering wheel

Cast wheels, 2part, winter rubber, fancy sticker, low, toning

Abtirain, sidings are not from this car and broken

What about bumper, I really like this 'lip', made from VAZ doors

An animal sign, for those who doesn't know English, Japanese Finnish

Soarer means "парящий" (Russian translation)

Come to Ekb, meet the guy, change downhill bike to a cool rearwheel drive car,

Ride in the best dirt park in Russia, chill out, with minimal budget

And maximum profit, and fun. But as usual everything went wrong.

So we're finally coming to soarer, and my friend Max is showing

Potential buyers their potential car.

When I saw my bike I was sure it is perfect,

I rode it 4 times and I completely forgot that my first

Backflip tries where on that bike, I wasn't sure about the trade

We had some problems, the guy is pro in bikes

"What the wreck did you bring me" he said, didn't want to change

But then he took a pity on me, It's a great luck.

The only bad thing was the temperature in Ekb

It was the harshest experience in my life - 25 С

And if you stop for 3 min and don't ride, you won't ride again.

If the guy wants to buy it, will it be hard for you to let the baby go?

Of course. - rate 0 to 10. - hundred.

But the car wasn't far as ideal as I imagined.

About the car, There's a potential buyer.

The car I think is beautiful. Despite of many problems,

More than bike the had, trade is equal, because the car gives

the pleasure despite of it can collapse anytime.

But we won't drift it.

Or will we?

Friends! Last year I went to red bull district ride

It was the most serious and cool event Iэму ever been invited to.

Weэму been presented such reglans only for participants

With the symbols, I'm ready to raffle it among all followers and not

Btw subscribe the channel, to win this thing - share your ideas

What can you trade to get this car? Which I traded also.

The most creative - gets the coat. I'll post in insta the winner.

Artyom the cameraman asks me, what is the essence of the trade?

There's no essence, cos I had a dh bike which as we found out

Later was broken, and an opportunity to get rearwheel driven Toyota

Which I really like, there's no more essence

In fact it was trade for the trade plus I realized that it would be

A nice trip, better that sit on the sofa at home in Moscow

Friends, I hope you enjoyed the episode, like and comment

Support the project!

Bye!

In this episode:

Give the bag! - no

Here's Why the New Corolla Hatchback is Really a Toyota Matrix - Duration: 5:03.

rev up your engines, 1997 Scotty I'm looking at an 09 automatic matrix

with 48,000 original miles for $10,000 the car is very solid but it needs recalls

done is this a good purchase, okay well it's 10 years old and they want 10

grand that's expensive, but the problem is you know they don't make the matrix

anymore and I got one and that's an excellent vehicle, so you're gonna be a

hard time finding one that's only got 48,000 miles on it that's 10 years old

so, the recall is just a bunch of nonsense it's the airbag crap and who

cares about that, you can take it in if you want and they have to put new

airbags in for free that's the law, but realize here's the funny thing they

stopped making the matrixs which I'm really laughing at now cuz, I thought why

did Toyota stop making a matrixs people love them they were great cars, well

it was just a decision that they said they wanted to drop the car from their

line, it's basically a toyota corolla frame and engine and transmission

anyways right, so now I noticed this year now they came out with the Corolla

hatchback, it's a matrix look at it, it looks almost exactly the same they're

just bringing it back and call it a Corolla hatchback instead of calling it

a matrix you know, I mean it's kind of silly that they stopped making them and

now they're basically making the same vehicle only they calling it a Corolla

hatchback, they're great cars I don't know why they decided not to make them

but, now they are making them and just call them Corolla

hatchbacks, wolf says Scotty what are your thoughts on

a 93 Skyline GTR I'm thinking about getting one as a weekend car thanks, well

those were fun cars to drive that's old enough a 93 that was before Renault and

Nissan merge, that's when Nissan was still making really reliable cars, a lot

of guys turn those things into drifter cars, they can really zip around they're

solid made, but here's the thing, a lot of guys use them as drifter cars and

race around in them, you might buy one it might be completely worn out and be a

pile of junk and you're gonna put a fortune into it, so if you are gonna buy

that car find a guy like me a serious mechanic who know his stuff, to go check

that thing out, to see what kind of shape it's in before you throw your money out,

because for example say it's a young kid who's selling it, don't buy it they all

rag the heck out of them you don't want to do that, Damien rink says

Scotty I'm thinking about importing an 03-05 Mercury Grand

Marquis to the Netherlands it'll be my weekend car, won't drive it much, what's

your opinion and reliability on the air suspension, well air suspension systems

are just a pain in the butt, but they ride really nice and you can always fix

them on those, it's still a Ford product now realize that here in the United

States the Grand Marquis are known as grandma and grandpa cars, so if your

grandpa or grandma and you want to go with the flow go right out get one you know I

mean what the heck, and if it's a kind of a cool car maybe in the Netherlands people

don't drive many of those, go right ahead they can last quite some

time you know, they're solid built cars most of them got that big old v8

engine on them they'll run a long time and you say you won't drive it much you

won't care about gas mileage, I know I met people in England that had big old

American sixties muscle cars and they drove them on the weekend to car shows

and stuff they didn't care about the gas mileage so, the orange says hey Scotty I'm

thinking about buying the last generation Pontiac Grand Prix GTP what's

your thought on them, don't buy one unless it's gonna be a weekend toy like

the previous guy was only getting a Grand Marquis and sent it to the Netherlands

and only drive it a little bit one of the reasons Pontiac went extinct was

because of those last generations they had so many problems, I would never buy

any of the front wheel drive Pontiac vehicles, they were mainly all garbage I

got a laugh cuz you remember right before they went extinct they used, Matt

Dillon to do all those voiceovers on their advertisements and then they went out

of business entirely you know, maybe he's bad karma I don't know, Bryan Bissett says

what are your thoughts on an 03 Mustang v6

okay Mustangs I'm a fan of the v8 engines, the v8 engines are the ones that

I really like, I like the v8 engines, I'm not really a fan of the v6 s because

they're kind of underpowered and they don't last as long as the v8, but if

you're not a racer and you just want to pedal around, I have quite a few

customers that are older customers and they like the look of the Mustang but

they're not racers, they never go over the speed limit, if the speed limit is 75

they go 75 and a v6 engine is perfectly fine for that

you know, plus if you're gonna buy a used one, the v6 ones are much lower prices

than the v8s and also since it's the v6, the guys aren't generally as much racier

the v8s most guys race them around, the v6 the people that buy them generally don't

race as much, so you can get a car that probably is n't worn out, so if you never

want to miss another one of my new car repair, videos remember to ring that Bell!

Texas A&M Science - Meet Ashley Hayden '19 - Duration: 3:15.

One of the things that originally attracted me to A&M was of course the

Aggie family aspect of it.

That was something I had never really experienced before.

Moving away from home for the first time, my family had no experience with the

whole college thing.

I really wanted a place where I would feel at home.

I love that I can go up to someone and just say "howdy" to them

and start a conversation.

I'm a first generation college student;

neither of my parents went to college.

My father built his own software company from the ground up;

My mother was a police officer.

My parents got divorced when I was 11,

so I lived with my mom for most my teenage years.

She came down with cancer when I was around 13.

Because of our financial situation, I had to work two jobs

while working at home full-time

to take care of her myself.

She had told me, "You know, I really want you to go to

college so you don't have to end up in the financial situation that we're in

right now ever again."

I think everyone has their own struggles whether it be

small or big, and we all have to deal with that.

I think anyone could have done what I did, it's just the fact I had to do it.

I think in terms of undergraduate research, a lot of people are kind of afraid to

really deep-dive into a lab.

When it comes to research, I think a lot of people are

scared at the commitment -- I was at first.

But because of how much time I spent in the lab,

that's the only reason I've been able to really succeed and flourish.

Not only have I been able to do incredible research because I'm in the

lab so much, but I've been able to actually get to know everyone in my lab

and really culminate those relationships professionally and personally.

My professors actually care about who I am and whether or not I succeed.

Patience.

Determination.

You can't give up.

Go out, do something with your life that you enjoy.

That's kind of been my main goal while I've been here at A&M.

>> KATHRYN DELONGA: Hi, my name is Dr. Kathryn DeLonga.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and director of the psychological treatment program

with the Mood Brain and Development Unit.

Our lab is located within the Emotion and Development Branch of the National Institute

of Mental Health at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

I have nothing to disclose.

All the opinions I am presenting are my own.

And all this work is supported by the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research

Program.

This is a picture of the NIH Clinical Center here at our Bethesda location.

The Mood, Brain and Development Unit is led by psychiatrist Dr. Argyris Stringaris.

And we have a research and clinical team and together we work to improve understanding

and treatment of adolescent depression.

In this short webinar, I'll be talking a little bit about psychological, or "talk therapy"

treatment for clinical depression in adolescents - specifically, I'll be sharing information

about a type of talk therapy called Behavioral Activation, that we offer in our outpatient

clinic to teenagers enrolled in our studies.

Depression is an illness of brain circuitry and chemistry that causes and is caused by

changes in mood, thinking, motivation and behavior.

When you review the scientific research on most effective treatments for depression in

adolescents, what comes up again and again is that the behaviors we engage in make a

difference and can help us feel better or can lead to feeling worse.

Take, for example, Sally, a hypothetical 15-year-old girl who had a fight with a friend.

She's failing in school while her parents are separating.

These are some of the stressful events and the daily hassles that she's been dealing

with.

She gets into this negative mood spiral because she feels sad, worthless, overwhelmed and

angry.

She copes with these big feelings in a pretty natural way.

She skips classes because she is overwhelmed by school and she avoids her friends so not

to be as anxious.

She starts spending a lot of time alone in her room listening to sad music.

So the ways that she is coping actually has some negative consequences as well.

So her friends stop calling, she gets further behind in school, her parents are upset and

get on her case.

So these negative consequences led back to some of these stressful daily hassles.

She feels lousy and it starts this negative mood spiral.

Behavioral Activation is a type of talk therapy that helps teens get unstuck from negative

mood spirals.

With your clinician you work to reverse the negative spiral by noticing the connection

between what you do and how you feel, and gradually adding more small and enjoyable

actions back into your life.

Behavioral Activation is an evidence-based treatment that helps teens engage in mood-and

confidence-boosting activities.

With the goal of decreasing avoidance, bolstering peer connection, and improving engagement

in rewarding activities and incorporates parent involvement so parents gain tools for supporting

their adolescent.

So instead of the negative spiral when feeling depressed and following unhelpful actions

- avoiding, withdrawing and then having those negative consequences and things get worse.

Through behavioral activation you could work with your counselor to start looking at helpful

actions that could help boost your mood.

For Sally, at the start of her treatment her goal was to get out of her pajamas and to

shower every morning.

She noticed that she actually felt a little bit better, more like herself, just by taking

that step.

Then, with her parents support she reached out to her counselor to get excused from some

of the homework she had missed and to get extra support catching up in subjects where

she had fallen behind.

She started spending more time outside her room and reduced the number of hours she spent

on her phone and signed up for a rec basketball league through which she ended up making some

new friends.

Through the treatment her parents also worked with her therapist to learn new ways to encourage,

praise and support Sally for her efforts and progress.

Overall, Sally learned that through taking small, incremental steps, she could do things

that would lead to feeling better, more resilient, more like herself, and that she again felt

hopeful about the future.

So in Behavioral Activation instead of mood directed behavior where you might feel bad

and you don't do anything much because you feel so lousy and then you feel even worse,

we focus on goal directed action.

We focus on goal directed behavior.

Even though you might be feeling bad you will do something fun and you do something because

you set the goal to do it.

For Sally, she got up and showered because she had set that goal even though she didn't

feel like showering.

Then she noticed she felt a little better after that.

So the heart of Behavioral Activation is that action can help you feel more motivated.

So rather than waiting to feel better, do things that align with your values that will

lead to feeling better.

Parents receive coaching and what's helpful to know is that depression makes teens irritable,

angry, oppositional.

As the depression is treated, and with the right kind of support, your child will again

feel interest, joy, motivation and connection.

You can learn skills and ways to support your child to prevent future bouts of depression.

So next steps could be to seek professional assessment for your child and encourage adherence,

work with your childs treatment team to learn new skills, seek emotional support or

treatment yourself, remove guns from the home and keep medicines or other lethal means in

a safe manner, set appropriate limits on social media, on electronics, on sleep, support sleep

hygiene, and to stay positive and supportive.

Here are 8 things to do to support your teen in general but in particular for those with

depression.

Listen, show your concern and that you are trying to understand your child's perspective,

acknowledge all positive or healthy choices you see, praise steps in the right direction,

express confidence in your teen, model healthy problem-solving, facilitate/support your child's

engagement with healthy activities and a positive peer community, and allow your teen to have

autonomy and independence, while also monitoring and setting appropriate limits.

And for more information about The Mood, Brain and Development Unit's teen depression study,

please feel free to call 301-827-1350.

And if you have a child or teen who may be depressed and may be interested in participating

in our study or interested in the inpatient or outpatient treatment program, please get

in touch.

Thank you.

How to Choose the Right Doctor for Cosmetic Filler Treatment - Duration: 10:59.

what type of doctor is best for filler treatment injectable filler placement

for a wide range of cosmetic issues is very popular it has resulted in a wide

range of practitioners offering these types of procedures question which is

often heard is who do I go to for the best results of filler treatment I'll

discuss the principles of safety and after treatment management which I

believe are important to understand when you're looking for the right doctor to

perform your injectable filler treatment I'm Dr. Amiya Prasad I'm a

Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic

and reconstructive surgeon I've been in practice in Manhattan and Long Island

for over 20 years I'm well known for cosmetic surgery such as upper eyelid

surgery under eye bags surgery eyebrow lifts face lifts and other surgeries to

treat the effects of facial aging I'm also known for my work with cosmetic

filler placement for the eyes and face related to the genetic and aging issues

wherever there is volume deficiency a common belief is that results are

dependent on the brand of the filler although the choice of filler is

important it's the doctors technique that is critical to a desirable result

boils down to experience expertise knowledge and the aesthetic style of the

practitioner safety is the highest priority injectable fillers have become

so popular that most people don't view them as invasive particularly in

contrast to surgery once you enter the skin the procedure is

invasive with this principle in mind I treat placement of injectable fillers

with the same level of care as I do with surgery as with surgery you begin first

with the plan you should have a clear understanding about what you should

expect after the procedure in terms of results and longevity there are common

issues after filler placement such as swelling and lumpiness which are

generally resolved with conservative therapy since these are common and more

severe complications are less common both patients and practitioners can be

inattentive to the risks of more serious complications these complications

include different types of infections such as biofilm a biofilm typically

occurs when bacteria from the skin surface is carried past the skin and the

bacteria attaches to the surface of the filler material since the filler

material does not have a blood supply infection can occur which can be very

difficult to treat another potential complication is when the filler material

is injected into a vessel specifically an artery this can result in severe loss

of large areas of skin and soft tissue and even blindness just like our

approach to surgery where we perform every procedure prepared for an

emergency it's important to have the necessary

equipment training supplies and it always be prepared for any filler

related emergency as a surgeon I'm available to my patients 24 hours a day

including my patients who I perform injectable fillers for when it comes to

filler placement I believe that the knowledge derived from surgical exposure

is unparalleled since you cannot see through the skin

the placement of filler is dependent on how the different levels of tissue feel

I often see patients who are dissatisfied with filler placement

around the eyes consistently the practitioner who performed this

procedure is not someone who is a surgeon who operates in the eye area the

eye area is a very small and very delicate area a surgeon like myself who

specializes in eyelid surgery and performs filler placement in this area

routinely is less likely to have issues no doctor is above having complications

or dissatisfied patients but I would argue that higher level of expertise and

experience is always to a person's advantage I've also observed that the

scope of a doctors specialty very often biases the doctors recommendations for

example in the case of under eye bags slight eye bags can be blended and

camouflaged effectively with filler however if I bags are too prominent then

filler can actually make the eye bags look worse in such cases I would

recommend to the patient to have surgery instead of filler even if the patient

states that they are not interested in surgery I'd rather not treat the person

than treat them incorrectly I've seen many non surgeons use fillers

resulting in a way to make the under eye bags look significantly worse I see

patients in this type of situation and dissolve the fillers to reveal the true

underlying Anatomy filler placement under the eyes is often associated with

bruising because of the eyelid area being very vascular as a cosmetic eyelid

surgery I apply my knowledge and experience to place fillers with minimal

trauma using blunt cannula this approach results in less recovery

time and more immediate results the same principle applies to treating hollowness

in the upper eyelids as an oculofacial plastic surgeon I place fillers in a way

which creates a natural and stable appearance with avoidance of common

problems such as the filler getting lost in the eye socket a frequently requested

facial filler treatment is to restore volume or to enhance the cheeks most

doctors place filler in the soft tissue space which is just below the skin

placing cheek filler in this area may look good at first but the filler will

shift making this added volume in your face look soft and doughy instead of

being defined the skin can't hold too much filler material before it weighs

down the cheeks contributing to a rounded or pillowy unnatural appearance

as a facial cosmetic surgeon who performs procedures like facelifts and

facial implants I know the anatomy of the face in the cheeks this knowledge

and experience has aided my ability to place filler at a deeper level of the

face between the bone structure and the overlying muscle this is called

structural volumizing placing filler at this structural level gives a more

defined natural-looking contour to create a more youthful appearance

nothing inspires more concern about an unnatural look than the subject of lip

fillers I have this discussion every day with patients who are considering lip

enhancement it always begins with the phrase I don't want duck lips or I don't

want lips like place the celebrity name there although this discussion is

light-hearted complications from lip filler placement can be quite serious

lip injections have resulted in vascular compromise and resultant tissue loss as

a surgeon before the introduction of modern hyaluronic acid fillers I book

augmented the lips with fat that's mass tissue during the facelift surgery and

alloderm the principles applied to these procedures are also applied when I place

filler for volume enhancement with blunt cannulas lip enhancement involves

several areas which can be enhanced to create natural and attractive looking

lips the ease of finding a practitioner for cosmetic filler placement makes it

seem like an easy non-surgical procedure without risk filler placement is not to

be taken lightly and it should be seen as invasive as surgery proper analysis

planning adherence to standards for sterility and preparation for

complications are critically important this means the practitioner you choose

should be held to the same high standard you would apply if you were to undergo

surgery I hope you found this information helpful thank you for your

question

Thank you, thank you.

I feel very excited to be here.

I'm really excited to be presenting at the Film & Animation part of the festival, even

though this presentation has literally nothing to do with film or animation. [Laughter]

So if you feel the need to leave at any time, you know where the exits are.

Hello, everyone.

Again, very excited to be here in the city of Portland.

I've been to Portland once before and it was very fun.

I didn't get to do too much, but I did go to Voodoo and that was great and got to see

the Trailblazers play.

I don't know why I'm telling you about Portland.

You've been here.

If you don't know me, I'm a screenwriter, I'm a comedian, I'm a suspect in multiple

ongoing arson investigations, I'm a director, but most importantly, I'm a jazz expert.

You might be asking yourself, how did you become a jazz expert?

And that's simple.

Ten minutes ago backstage, I googled "jazz" and "shortest songs" and learned as much as

I could and now I'm here to pass those learnings on to you.

>> [audio clip] "Jazz!"

>> So, get ready for that.

So, what is jazz?

You're probably asking because you've never heard the word before.

Let me start off by saying jazz is bad. [Laughter]

It's not good.

It is garbage music for boring people.

If you ever meet anyone who says their listening taste consists of mostly jazz, you should

run because it is the exclusive listening choice of sociopaths. [Laughter]

Quick show of hands here: How many people think they like jazz?

Great.

Well, actually, that was a trick question because everybody likes jazz!

Every single one of you likes jazz.

It is a pleasant sound.

It's a human instinct to like jazz.

We just couch it in other sounds because it's difficult to understand and difficult to embrace

as a genre of music.

It's like when you were a kid and you would put your dog's medicine into a piece of bologna

so your sister would eat it as a prank. [Laughter]

We all remember doing that.

Jazz is in all sorts of popular music.

If you like Kendrick Lamar, you like jazz.

If you like Bruno Mars, St. Vincent, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, all these people, you like

jazz.

If you like Radiohead, you like jazz.

And I know you love Radiohead, because this is Portland and everyone in this fucking city

loves Radiohead.

Show of hands: Who likes Radiohead?

That is less than I thought.

Really? Really?

You don't all like Radiohead?!

That was literally less than half— I don't have time, how much, no, I don't have time

for this. [Laughter]

Okay, sorry.

All right.

So with my newfound expertise in jazz music, I'm going to give you all a quick and easy

guide on how you can make your own jazz.

You can embody the spirit of jazz.

It's not just about making jazz, it's about living jazz.

The first time I gave this speech, I was with a close friend of mine.

I don't want to name drop, but let's just call him Mr. Clooney. [Laughter]

He asked me, why would I need a quick guide to make jazz?

If you love jazz so much, why won't you take the time to make it well?

And he's right, so I said to him, George, that is a fair question. [Laughter]

You've got to give jazz the time and respect it deserves, but there are some

scenarios in which maybe you just need to make jazz on a very small scale.

Like, maybe you got drunk one night and signed up for jazz school and finals are tomorrow.

Maybe Jeff Goldblum challenged you to a competition at his jazz night in which the victor gets

to sleep with your wife and/or husband.

These are all real scenarios. [Laughter]

Maybe there is a man who is holding your entire family hostage and says he will

kill every single one of them unless you can compose the score for a Kohl's one-day sale

on jeans.

No matter what the reason is, the most important reason for you to pay attention right now

is because you all paid, you're already here, the exits are very far away, and you're going

to embarrass yourself in front of everybody if you get up and walk away now.

I gave you a shot.

You did not listen. [Laughter]

So, first thing you need to know about jazz

is that you don't just make jazz, you live it.

Part of living jazz is embodying the image of jazz.

Honestly, the image of jazz is probably like 50% of jazz.

This is one of my favorite jazz images.

It is depicting a poor Cajun blues violinist playing in the '20s.

I love it so much because I feel like it's both a sad and happy image.

His face suggests this deep depressive state in which he's performing, but his body language

suggests a bouncy happy rhythm.

I feel like that's a lot of what jazz is to me.

Sometimes sad, sometimes bouncy, but it's always vibrant and changing.

The image of jazz has strong roots in New Orleans' Cajun culture, and because of that,

it's very specific and can't just be imitated by anyone.

You can try.

I've tried, it's very hard.

You can't fake jazz because real jazz heads, like myself, we know when we spot fake jazz.

I know that you don't know when you spot fake jazz, because this is not an image of real

jazz.

This is the mural you can find inside of any Popeye's restaurant nationwide. [Laughter]

You have to stay alert at all times.

You can not fake this stuff.

Fake jazz will get you.

The next thing you need to know about jazz is, this is the little part that is kind of

film related.

The epitome of jazz to me can be found in movies.

As I said before, I'm a filmmaker and a huge fan of movies.

For the purpose of demonstrating what I consider the epitome of jazz, I want to use what I

consider to be the finest depiction of jazz in modern filmmaking, which is the scene in

Spider-Man 3 where Tobey Maguire gets infected by Venom, which turns him into a huge dork.

This is absolutely what jazz is.

Because jazz is snapping, and it's finger guns, and it's using the space around you

in a way that makes everyone a bit uncomfortable.

It's spinning random chairs.

It's holding onto a poisonous venom coming from space and getting inside you until it

ruins your personality.

Poisoning yourself? 50% of jazz.

If you don't have access to poison venom from space, that's okay.

You can also just smoke a bunch of cigarettes.

Get yourself that raspy crackly voice that real jazz musicians use.

I don't know if there are any kids in here, but I'm just going to say it.

Smoking is very cool.

I know you all think I'm joking, but this is a really good image of jazz and the filmmakers

knew that, which is why they just put "jazz" on the wall. [Laughter]

Now another aspect of jazz is obviously the look. [Laughter]

You can't just play jazz with anything.

They'll laugh you off the stage.

You got to go as dark as you can.

All black, if possible.

I mean, look at me.

Black shoes, black socks, black pants, black shirt, black sweater, black face.

You don't have a black face, get some shoe polish on it, rub it in there.

It's fine! [Laughter]

Just like everything, there's a storied history of racism in jazz.

If anyone gives you guff, tell them it's tradition.

Now even with all these dark clothes right now, I'm at like a 45 on the jazz meter

out of 100.

but if I take off these fake glasses I've been wearing to make you all think I'm smart,

and put on these real sunglasses, that's jazz. [Laughter]

Now again, I'm still at like a 55 on the jazz meter.

If I were to put on a big coat, or lean on the wall, or even just lower these sunglasses

a little bit so you think I'm kind of sleepy, that's upping it a little bit more.

Looking sleepy is like between 45-55% percent of jazz.

Let's say 50%.

The lingo of jazz, also very important.

50% of jazz.

The thing about jazz lingo is it doesn't really follow the rules of language as we know it,

so throw everything you know about the English language out the window.

From now on, people are shapes or animals.

For instance, nerds, squares.

If you're cool with somebody, you are square.

I know that's confusing, let's go on to one that's a little bit easier to understand.

If you have someone that is your friend, they're your dog.

But if you have someone you hate, they are a dog.

That article is very important.

Here's probably the easiest thing to remember.

If you know someone you like, they're a cool guy?

That's a cat.

If you know someone you hate, they're a turkey.

Again, people are shapes or animals.

The way I remember this one for myself is with a simple mnemonic.

Cats, they're worshiped in Egyptian cultures.

That's cool!

Turkeys, pilgrims, colonization, those dumb hats with buckles on them.

That's bad. [Laughter]

The music of jazz is the other half of jazz.

As I presented before, you've got the image of jazz and the music of jazz.

For this, I want to focus on two very specific types of jazz, and that's big band jazz and

cool jazz.

Big band jazz is exactly what it sounds like, it's jazz with a full band and they're all

wearing coats that are too big.

Cool jazz is also exactly what it sounds like.

It's jazz for cool people.

It's got a lighter tempo, it's very relaxed, and I also like the name "cool jazz" because

it suggests all other jazz is uncool jazz, which is correct.

[Laughter] For an example of the structure behind a cool jazz song, I'm going to take

a look at the famous song "Unsquare Dance" by Dave Brubeck.

[MUSIC] >> This is Dave Brubeck, by the way.

He kind of looks like if Rick Moranis and Jack Antonoff had a baby.

[Laughter] And looking like Rick Moranis is 50% jazz.

There are a lot of traditional cool jazz elements to this song.

It has a very persistent bouncy simple percussion that goes through the entire song.

It's just claps, sticks, and bass and doesn't really change up at any point.

The bass is super simple, just boom boom boom through the entire song.

The entire song is like seven minutes long.

You don't have to hear it, this is the important part.

Lastly, it's got this very light piano section you just heard, which I like to call the piano

tickle.

It feels like someone wasn't really playing the piano full time, and they just kind of

gave up halfway, which is important, because you don't want to do anything for too long

in jazz.

People get bored.

For the example of a big band jazz song, I want to look at what it probably my favorite

big band jazz song ever recorded, which is the song from those Chips Ahoy! commercials

by Benny Goodman.

[MUSIC] >> This is the greatest big band song of all

time because it's got all the necessary elements.

You all know this song!

You love it!

There's a big layered brassy sound covering the entire thing.

It's got the little horn thing that sound like the horn people are freaking out.

The song is way too long.

Seriously.

This song, the full version, is 13 minutes long.

Imagine listening to this for 13 minutes?

No, thank you.

And also, that's pretty short for a jazz song.

It's also got very basic lyrics.

This version has no lyrics, but in the original thing by Louis Prima, before Benny Goodman

made it famous, the lyrics were just the title of the song and nothing else.

And you don't have to do anything with jazz because no one wants to hear any words, no

one's really listening.

My last note on this song, I know it's called "Sing Sing Sing."

Fuck you.

Capitalism rules and language is not ruled by the things we decide, sorry.

Capitalism overtakes any creative endeavor you ever want to take.

It is now called the Chips Ahoy!

Song.

By the way, the real presentation I'm given on Sunday morning, that's also the theme of

that.

Capitalism takes over any endeavor, why bother?

[Laughter] Now, I did want to show you all how easy it

is to make jazz with the rules I've given you, so I composed my own fake jazz song.

I wanted to make something that was a mix between big band jazz and real jazz, that

embodies everything I said about jazz, so I wrote a song.

It's called "Now, This Is Jazz."

And I'd like to present it to you.

[MUSIC] >> It starts very simple.

Got those sticks.

Bring a little bit of layers on the sticks.

Then you get in that bass line.

That's going to be the entire bass line.

Same bass line for the entire song, it will not change.

But then you add in a little piano tickle.

Whatever.

Just throw it away.

Just keep going.

Doesn't matter.

Bring in those brass a little bit.

Okay, now bring in more brass.

There you go.

And now bring the entire band.

The entire band just keeps going for a little bit.

And before you know it, then the solo comes in.

And again, every instrument gets its own solo.

Because jazz is all about sharing, it's a team sport, I guess?

First instrument we're going to hear is the alto saxophone.

[Laughter] All right!

Then you got the lyrics, the only lyrics, again, needs to be the title of the song.

[CHORUS] "Now This Is Jazz!"

>> Now you go back into the music of it all.

You've got that big band brass.

This is the part where I come in and dance in your space, and make everyone uncomfortable,

but this is a stadium and I didn't realize it was going to be this.

So I'm just going to stand up here and wait for the next solo, which is the drums.

The drums always get the longest solo of the song.

A little bit longer than you expect it to go.

[Laughter] Easiest way to break up a solo is with another solo.

Andy, can we get that instrument, please?

For the purposes of this solo, I would like to show how easy it is by performing a solo

on an instrument I've literally never played before.

Here we go.

Hit it.

[CLARINET SOLO] >> And then you go right back into the big

band freakout.

[Applause] Thank you so much.

Oh, come on down to Kohl's.

We've got a sale on jeans!

They're standing right off stage threatening me.

Please just listen to the end of the song.

I really just...

I have a wife.

This song is longer than I thought it was.

I honestly did not think it was this long.

Thank you so much.

There's the freakout.

That's jazz.

[Applause] [Cheers] I want to give a big shout out to the city of Portland for making clarinet

rentals very easy.

That's genuinely the end of my presentation.

[Applause]

VANCOUVER, Canada Travel Guide | Little Grey Box - Duration: 8:50.

Hey guys Phoebe here from Little Grey Box Now Matt and I are in beautiful

Vancouver uncovering a few of the best things to see, eat and do

now these tips are perfect for anybody who wants to experience Vancouver in the

summer but only has a couple of days and a very limited budget to do it

Let's go

Located at the north western edge of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park has been

a designated green space for over a hundred and thirty years it's a really

It's a really popular spot for visitors and locals and it is easy to see why

you can visit beaches, wander trails lined with beautiful cedar, fir and hemlock trees

visit the Aquarium, check out the sea wall there are cafes, plenty of spots for

a picnic and of course you can hire a bike and whizz around

For the very best free views of Vancouver you want to head right here to the

High View Lookout at the Cypress Provincial Park. Now we have a hire car so we drove

up here super easily there's a parking lot you can just jump out spend some

time have a picnic and get a sense of the size and scope of Van City

As you can see the Capilano Suspension Bridge is a real favorite among tourists

I mean it's absolutely packed and I'm freaking out I've really bad social

anxiety and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to bring myself a get on there

cause it's a little bit claustrophobic so in addition to the suspension bridge

you can do a cliff walk and there are some cool tree top adventures too there's

plenty of food to eat a little bit of shopping you can do at the Trading Post

I just want to make this clear I'm not afraid of the heights

I'm afraid of the amount of people on here it's freaking me out

If you have shocking social anxiety

proceed with caution

if you're a normal functioning human enjoy yourself

We're in the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Garden and it is beautiful

If you love gardens like I do You wil love this one

Vancouver's Chinatown is one of the largest in the world and for those on a

budget it is the perfect place to explore on foot and take in a little bit

of local culture and history along the way Behind me is the Sam Key Building and it

is the narrowest building in the world I know what you're thinking Phoebe it's not

that narrow but I want you to take a look at the two different paint colors

that dark paint... that's the Sam Key Building

Now we've been walking around Gastown and Chinatown for a couple of hours now

and there are a few people on the street who might be homeless or a little bit down on their luck

if you aren't from a country that has those kinds of issues you may find it intimidating

but honestly, we've had no problems

as with any country, anywhere in the world

just be a safe traveller and keep your wits about you

You can't come to Vancouver without visiting it's oldest neighborhood, Gastown

Now this area grew from a single tavern founded by John "Gassy Jack" Deighton

way back in 1867 and is now grown into a charming, historic and quaint part of

beautiful Vancouver. There are lots of boutiques, shops, gret places to eat

and of course the iconic steam clock which you see behind me

walk around, dip into shops, grab a cheap bite to eat from somewhere like The Warehouse

where all food is $5.95 and experience Vancouver

You can't come to Canada without trying poutine

now Matt and I are both vegetarians so we're here at Mean Poutine

where the gravy is herbivore friendly

What the heck is poutine? If you've never seen or heard of it before it is a French Canadian classic

they take perfectly-cooked crunchy french fries

cover them in gravy, cheese curds

French onions and there are a whole bunch of other toppings you can try too

hot dog, look at those cheesecurds

oh that is so good

it's amazing

Traditional Canadian foods and delicious budget eats do not get any better

than these bad boys

You are staring right down the barrel of a box of Tim Bits, if you don't know what a Tim Bit is

look it comes from Tim Hortons, hence the name Tim and the bit, well...

they are essentially donut holes so just a little round, bite-sized

tasty morsels of donut and they are so good

Now this box of 10 cost me $2.29

absolute bargain

We're at the Granville Island Brewery on you guessed it, Granville Island

Now I saw this handle for maple cream ale, maple cream beer

all the way over in Calgary and I was like when I get to Granville Island I have to try it

I thought it would taste exactly like maple syrup, it doesn't

It tastes just like....

beer

The Granville Island Public Market is perfect for anyone on a budget because

it has a wealth of food that you can try

Now this is the first time my deprived Australian eyes have ever laid themselves on perogies

My dad is Canadian, he has been talking about perogies since before I can remember

now what they are is yummy yummy dumplings filled with

all kinds of great things like meat, cheese, potato and onion

I'm really excited for this this feels like a big life moment

Is that seagull?

That's not a seagull...

It's a chicken

That's a chicken...an aggressive looking chicken

that thing is huge!

If you love great views you will love the Sea to Sky Gondola it's about a

45-minute drive from downtown Vancouver now the views up here are stunning

they're absolutely incredible there are loads of trails, food, you can bring your

own for a picnic one thing I will say obviously this isn't a super budget

option but if you are going to splash out on one experience this has to be it

so far, this is my favorite thing we've done

As the sun begins to set, I recommend coming right here to the Shannon Falls Provincial Park

where you will find the incredible Shannon Falls Now they are the third largest falls in British Columbia

the drive will take you around 35 to 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver

but if you've done the Sea to Sky Gondola it's 1 or 2 minutes down the road so you can easily pop in

When we were looking for someone to stay it was really hard for us because it's was peak

season it's super expensive so we went on Airbnb and.... yeah we stayed in

North Vancouver at the Airbnb for two nights and then we went to Walmart

bought all brand-new camping supplies and we headed out to a little campsite

called Porteau Cove near Squamish. It's $20 a night for a walk-in site at Porteau Cove

and the views are incredible, Porteau Cove is stunning you've got the cove, you can swim out the front

there are mountains in the background the sunsets are incredible

I love it

Thank you so much for watching you guys we hope you found this video helpful

DJI OSMO POCKET User Guide: Everything You Need To Know! - Duration: 25:41.

what's up everybody I'm brick harem Ella and today I'm gonna tell you everything

you need to know about the pocket Osmo I'm gonna kick a little flow so here we

go so the pocket Osmo is finally here was announced at

New York City's event called because life is big so rather than making a ton

of youtube videos I'd rather make one YouTube video with all the information

that you guys need to know so that's what I attempted to do in this video so

if you haven't done so please subscribe to my channel so it can help me make

more videos like this in order for you to make the best decision for you and

show you how to use this new DGI device so I'm gonna start with all the specs

and I'm gonna go into the features and as we go along I'm gonna give you my

opinion show you some b-roll of how it's used in order to give you a very

comprehensive look at the Osmo pocket alright so when you unbox the Osmo it

comes with a nice little case it comes with some small pamphlets one of them is

the Osmos shield which is insurance for the Osmo pocket it includes a wristband

for the case so you can just carry it around your wrist which is nice and

convenient so you don't drop it like your cell phone it's gonna come with a

USB cable to USBC cable it's also gonna have a lightning adapter so you can

mount that right in to your phone and use the DJI MIMO app what I do like

about starting the Osmo pocket is as opposed to the other Osmos that you have

to attach with your phone again to the app with the other Osmos it takes about

60 to 90 seconds really to start it up and start shooting but the Osmo pockets

only a few seconds so it's gonna be a lot better for running and gunning and

for vlogging now not only is the Osmo pocket versatile because you can use it

in so many different ways but you also can record in many different ways you

can record on to the micro SD card with just the Osmo pocket or you can connect

it to your phone and record all the footage that you that you're shooting on

to your actual phone so you have two ways of recording which is great that

people want to record another phone cool if you want to prove

onto the SD card you can do that as well all right so let's start looking at the

gimbal Canberra the unit itself there's no surprise there it's 12 megapixels

with a 1/2 point 3 inch sensor we kind of expected that the maximum image size

is gonna be 4000 by 3000 pixels the field of view is gonna be 80 degrees but

has a very fast eff 2.0 lens which is gonna be very helpful in low-light and

for anything that's moving letting in a lot of light having that fast glass is

really nice now you're gonna be able to take

panoramic shots time-lapse motion lapse and I'm going to talk about that more in

depth later in this video much like the GoPro it is able to shoot

4k at 60 frames per second which is a step up from the other Osmos that were

only able to do 4k at 30 frames per second and that's something that even

the Mavic 2 doesn't do now all those specs aside the one that really counts

that I'm excited about is the bitrate and a hundred megabytes per second I'm

glad they didn't make it at 50 or 60 megabytes per second because that would

have been more like the other Osmos and more like the Mavic pro alright they

stepped it up to 100 megabytes per second so in 9 pixel peeping geek talk

that basically means you're gonna get really really great video quality out of

this sensor and because of this I won't be surprised if the footage is actually

better than the GoPro Hero 7 black you're gonna be able to record an mp4

which is kind of universal or maybe more geared toward PC users and also MOV

which is more geared towards Apple users the quality is going to be the same with

either one so don't worry about that you can shoot at codec of h.264 it doesn't

have h.265 but to me that's not really a huge deal most people use h.264 and

don't have the computing capacity to use h.265 so h.264 is all good for me get

this the micro SD card that you're able to use is up to 256 gigabytes that's

right 256 not 128 like the Mavic - ok you can go all the way up to 256 that's

really nice because you can put on a big old card slap it in there

and then you don't have to worry I know a lot of people say oh you're supposed

to use more than one card in case the card fails but I've been using SanDisk

cards which I'll put in a link below and I can say the SanDisk I've never had one

fail in 12 years of doing photography and cinematography so maybe I'm lucky

but that's just my two cents for that now looking at the specs the one

question I have is the audio it says 48 kilohertz I'm not sure exactly how good

the audio is but if you do have good audio this could be huge because the

Osmo pocket is so darn small all right these are the dimensions in inches and

millimeters less than five inches and weighing only four ounces or about a

quarter of a pound I mean this is so darn small it's really great and that's

why a lot of people have been comparing it to the GoPro because of its size and

all these functions that I'm talking about all right so it has 875 milliamp

hour batteries which is about seven point seven volts and in layman's terms

that means it's going to last about an hour and 40 minutes and it takes 73

minutes to charge an empty battery now if you live in an area where it's really

really cold or really really hot it's going to be able to perform in

temperatures from 32 degrees all the way through 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 to

40 degrees Celsius now one thing I noticed from DJI products in terms of

temperature you are able to push that a little bit so if you wanted to use it in

little colder weather on the freezing side you could just be careful you want

to make sure you keep like a heat pack around it and make sure it doesn't get

too cold because you could damage the battery and damage the unit itself but

all your skier is snowboarders it could be a lot of fun to take around because

then you can just throw in your pocket and ski down the mountain and get really

good first-person view shots where you're skiing down the mountain or

you're snowboarding down the mountain etc as I mentioned in my previous video

you are going to be able to use a lot of accessories with the pocket Osmo much

like the GoPro now these accessories are specifically made for the Osmo pocket so

if you already having Osmo unfortunately you're gonna

have to get new accessories for the Osmo pocket and I will include a link to the

accessories in the description below some of these accessories include a

waterproof case it does have a waterproof housing enabling you to use

it underwater without distortion of that 80 degree field of view a controller

wheel and D filter set wireless module extension rod accessory mount expansion

kit in a variety of cases and bags let's talk about the ergonomics or the way the

Osmo pocket was built so if you look at it you can see it has a little touch

screen which is nice now I don't have to use just my phone you can use your phone

put the Osmo pocket down like on a tripod or a little mount and then I

could film myself further away so that's really nice that I can use it both with

a phone without a phone it has that nice little touch screen also like the other

Osmos and the Ronin s I can use it in normal mode in flashlight mode and then

in underslung mode also the Osmo pocket is so small for having a 3-axis gimbal

so that's great it's super small and you get that three axis gimbal in order to

give you really smooth footage whether you're walking running on a bike or

doing any other type of activity now the active track is something I wanted to

see the other Osmos the only Osmos that have it have been the Osmo mobile one

and the Osmo mobile two but now they added it to the Osmo pocket which is a

great feature I don't know why they didn't put it in the other Osmos but I'm

really happy to see it in the Osmo pocket the active track is great for

vloggers for people like myself and make youtube videos or travel videos and just

want to point on either myself using an extension rod or I could point on

something else and I don't have to do anything I just hold the Osmo pocket and

it does everything for me it's kind of like a lazy man's way of shooting but it

really is effective and looks very smooth and professional I also like the

fact that using the active track you don't have to

really draw a square around someone like you had to do with DJI drones and the

Osmo mobile so for the Osmo pocket all you have to do is just double click it

and it will recognize you recognize portraits whether I'm pointing it in

selfie mode at myself or I'm shooting a subject so I can capture the image

really quick and this is great for running and gunning as a vlogger or

someone who shoots spontaneous videos you don't want to be setting up a shot

doing all this stuff all right you want to get the shot quick all right before

it leaves so having that active track and just double-click and I'll execute

the shot without any fuss now with that said if you use your phone you're gonna

have to use the mimo app or my mom I'm not sure exactly still how you pronounce

it I think it's MIMO and with this app which is free on Google Play and Apple

phones you can just attach your cellphone go into the mimo app and then

use your finger to highlight the person or the object that you're tracking and

it'll track it for you again on the touch screen on the pocket Osmo you

double click but with your phone you just make that square and the active

fact basically does the rest one cool feature of the active track dimension is

that it doesn't have to have the gimbal and center it can move all around in any

position so no matter how you're holding the Osmo pocket it's still gonna follow

the subject and be locked in now we're going to talk about moving the gimbal

around I recommend you get the controller wheel which cost $59 this is

going to give you a lot of added functionalities so with the controller

wheel you can just tap this small little button next to the dial and one of the

modes you can make the gimbal go up and down vertically or you tap the little

button to the side and then you can make the gimbal go side-to-side so having

this controller wheel is really helpful now another way to move the gimbal up

and down it's just actually on the touchscreen of the Osmo pocket on the

right hand side you can just use your thumb or your finger to move it up and

down and the gimbal will go up and down as so another thing that the controller

wheel does you can tap on the side button over here and then it just goes

into selfie mode tap it it goes back to normal mode which is great for vloggers

which I mentioned earlier I know I'm mentioning a lot about vlogging but this

is a great vlogging camera when you press on that middle

button or that button to the left and the controller wheel it's going to go

into the different shooting modes now you can go into the tilt mode the FPV

mode or the follow mode now when you hold down that right button on the

controller wheel the gimbal is going to be locked in position no matter where

you move the gimbal the head will stay perfectly still and will give you nice

smooth shots so basically that right button on the controller wheel is much

like the Ronin s the trigger in the back or the trigger and the Osmo mobile that

you have to hold down to keep it stable so once you take your finger off that

button then you lose all that stability that you had it kind of goes kind of

everywhere a little loose so in most cases you're going to want to hold that

button down one thing to know when you get that controller wheel if that dial

is not in the center the gimbal head could drift it could start moving and

this happens with other Ozma's and people think it's broken there's a

manufacturer error no it just needs the calibration so if you get your Osmo

pocket and you attach the controller wheel and your head starts moving the

gimbal starts moving to the side without you doing anything then you're gonna

have to do a calibration so you're gonna have to go into the little touch menu so

on the touch menu you're gonna swipe down and then you'll see a little icon

for settings you click on that then you're gonna scroll over to where it

says accessories you're gonna click on that and then you're gonna click on dial

calibration once you press that it's going to do that calibration so you

won't get the head drifting off to the side so it's just a quick

troubleshooting here so you get this don't freak out that's how you fix it as

we know Instagram has taken over social media and has its stories feature which

everyone seems to love it seems to be going crazy now so DJI is being pretty

smart and trendy it made a story mode function so you can use this function to

upload videos to Instagram to Facebook or to any other social media it will

shoot edit add music and record on to your phone and you can upload it so it's

basically all in one no effort no extra downloading and doing this and

doing that so if you want to shoot yourself doing any type of thing like a

fashion shoot walking around whatever you guys do while you're vlogging or

just recording your life or your business you can do that very quickly

and easily in story mode so let me explain alright so you have that little

adapter on the side of the Osmo pocket right above the record button then you

can attach your cell phone when you connect your phone to the adapter on the

Osmo pocket the MIMO app is automatically going to load in the

application you just slide over to the right and on the right side and the

lower right side it's gonna say story you're gonna click on that but then

you're going to be able to choose from four different story modes leisure

fashion cut and lively after you choose one of these four modes then you can

start recording when you record the gimbals automatically going to go into

that specific story mode and record the way it should and then process

everything add music and then download it right onto your phone so you can

upload it to social media so all your friends can give it a heart alike or

whatever else you want

I next let's talk about panel mode so shooting a panorama you can do it with

the Osmo pocket you don't need your phone however to view what you shot

you're gonna need to attach your phone so you can do it with your phone

attached or you can do it with just the Osmo pocket but in order to view it

which you probably do you're gonna eventually have to attach your phone so

on the touch screen you just slide over and then you're gonna choose panel on

the bottom right there and then panel you can do a 180 which will do 180

degree photo just go around and take it stitch it all together or you can do the

3 by 3 3 by 3 means 9 photos totals so

$317 which is right next to it just press it and you have the option of

doing 180 degrees or the 3 by 3 now let's talk about time lapse and motion

lapse you can do this with the Osmo pocket or with your phone you can

connect with the wireless module via bluetooth or Wi-Fi the main thing you

have to know is you have to either set it down on a flat surface or get this

module to keep it nice and steady but you can't move while you're doing a time

lapse or emotion lapse obviously because your footage won't come out right now

with the time lapse you can adjust the interval or every few seconds is it

going to take a photo and then the amount of time that's gonna elapse and

it's going to turn it all into a video you can go 20 30 minutes whatever you

want to choose but to do motion lapse you're gonna have to physically move the

head the gimbal of the pocket Osmo so it's much it's kind of like waypoints on

a drone basically you pick one point you like it

you move the head manually physically move it pick another point

press the plus sign move another point press the plus sign on the screen and so

you have these different points once you like it then you press

go and then it does it all for you I actually recommend using this with your

phone because when you use your phone for the motion lapse you're going to be

able to press path and then after you press the path button you're going to be

able to press the plus button the plus as new points where you want to move the

head so you move the head one position you press plus to another position you

can also take any point delete it and then it goes back and then you can put

in a new point so for instance you move it over here you don't like it delete it

and set a new point just to get it exactly right what I do like about this

camera I like the DJ I added the fpv mode because in fpv mode you can shoot

like a 360 kind of like the barrel roll with the Ronin s you can just go all the

way around and it's gonna maintain that horizon based on where you are it's not

gonna try to go back to the center and lock in but it's going to do all this

with that three axis stabilization alright so now that we've talked all

about the Osmo pocket if you decide to buy it I'm gonna go quickly right now

over activation setting it up so you have a kind of a QuickStart guide to get

going with this mini stabilizer so the first thing you want to do charge your

battery on the front of the Osmo pocket there's two buttons all right you have

your record button the button next which is a little red dot right next to it

there's another button you just hold that down when you hold it down the Osmo

pocket is gonna freak out it's gonna do that cable head calibration move around

like it's drunk and when it's done with that then it's powered on then you're

gonna remove the little cover and you're gonna put in your adapter and attach

that little adapter to your cell phone before you attach your cell phone make

sure you down the DJI memo app you can download it both for Android and for

Apple or whatever type of phone you have and once you download that then you're

gonna have to attach your phone to the adapter once you attach it go into the

app when you start the app for the first time it's gonna say activation there

just slide that over and press turn on upload device information and press next

then you're gonna press login now you can either register for an

account if you don't have a DJI account or create a new DGI account if you are

have a DGI account that you want to use you can just use that by clicking on

login then you're going to press activation and just wait and remember

you need your battery fully charged and you need a good internet connection if

you don't have either of these it could lead to some problems then you press

done and you're all good you're done activating the Osmo pocket after you

activate the Osmo pocket then you're going to want to do a firmware update so

make sure you have an SD card on the side can't do it without an SD card in

the side of the device so after you put that in then you're going to press the

right button on the Osmo pocket to turn it on connect your phone with the

adapter go into the memo app in the top of the app it's gonna say new firmware

available for download you just click on that and just wait for it to download

now make sure your battery is fully charged and make sure you have good

Wi-Fi connection so after you press download you're gonna have to also press

install at the bottom to get the firmware to download properly once the

firmware is fully installed you can press complete and what's nice about the

Osmo pocket is after you do the firmware it will shut itself down and then turn

on again for other drones or DJI products

you basically have to turn the unit off and then turn it back on after you do a

firmware update because if you were to do the firmware update and then just

start using it it wouldn't work properly you have to turn everything off and

turning everything back on but the Osmo pocket does everything for you which is

great now if you've already used an Osmo or another DJI product the memo app

should be pretty intuitive however I'm gonna go over it briefly just to get you

started it's not too complicated but here we go alright so all the shooting

modes are on the right-hand side of the screen you just slide it with your thumb

or your finger move it around on the right side that big circle if it's white

it's for photos if it turns red that means it's taking video so you can just

switch it back forth you know if white is photo red as video the little icon in

the upper right hand corner of the app is the selfie mode so you just press

that and then the gimbal will turn around and look right at you and then if

you want to go out of selfie mode just tap that same

again and will go back to its original filming position okay that icon right

above the red or white circle is the recenter button so when you press that

button the gimbal will go right back to center so have you moved the gimbal to

the side and it's looking to the left or it's looking to the right or down or up

when you press that recenter it's gonna go right back to the middle like I said

before that big round circle is to take photos or video for video you obviously

press it it starts the video press it again stops the video what's great is

you can immediately go into active track mode by just highlighting the subject

with your finger so you make a little square on a person and object whatever

and then it automatically will follow that object or person all around to stop

the active track all you do is that box that's around the subject is going to

have a little X in the upper right hand corner you're just going to press that

little X to exit out and then you're back into normal mode like the DJI Go

app and the DJI go for app in the lower right hand corner you have that little

icon that you click on to review your videos or your photos of course you can

pick ones that you like you can delete them you can do whatever you like with

them and they're right there now a really nice feature with this app is the

fact that you can touch the screen in whatever direction you want the gimbal

to move so as soon as you touch the screen in that direction that point

where you want to move the gimbal will move in that direction but it won't it

will do it in a very smooth and cinematic way you can just tap wherever

you want the gimbal to move and it will automatically move in that direction

which is pretty nice in the upper left hand corner you can see your camera

settings and the battery life and the battery life is what's on the Osmo

pocket which will last up to one hundred and forty minutes now when use the

active tracker you have the gimbal following something you can adjust that

speed so you click on that icon the gimbal icon and you can adjust basically

how the gimbal moves whether you want it to move nice and smooth or you can have

it move much faster if you want to adjust your different camera settings

you click on that icon on the left hand side right here now if you wanted to go

into more extensive video and photo features you're going to press in the

lower left hand corner and that's going to give you all your different

settings you can also see the battery life and how much space you have on your

microSD card when you just have the Osmo pocket on so I'll say it on the top and

on the bottom right on that little touchscreen so speaking of the touch

screen let's talk a little more about that to learn how to use all those

settings very briefly so what you do is you just swipe down with your finger on

that touch screen and you're gonna come to your settings then you're gonna just

swipe to the side and as you swipe you can go to beautify mode Gimple settings

full screen mode and brightness setting now when you swipe up with your finger

you're gonna go into your gimbal quick settings these quick settings include

recenter selfie follow speed fpv follow and gimbal lock now when you swipe left

on your touchscreen you're gonna have a list of different shooting modes after

you choose the shooting mode that you want then you're gonna swipe to the left

side and then you can adjust the specific setting within that mode that

you want perhaps an easier way is just to press that right button right below

the screen you just press that and then you can go into your different shooting

modes as well now the button with a little red dot you just press that and

you're gonna be able to record photos or videos when you're on that touch screen

you can swipe right to review what you've shot to see all your different

photos and your videos now when you want to turn off the Asamoah pocket you just

hold that button on the right hand side and it turns off and then if you run out

of battery on the bottom you just plug in a cable and then you can start

charging the little light above the red dot button is going to blink on and off

and you can see when it's done charging hot doggy that was a long video I hope

you found it helpful if you did press that like button if you're interested in

buying the Osmo pocket or some accessories I have links in the

description below to make it convenient for you and if you haven't done so guys
