Japan to get first aircraft carrier since second world war amid China concerns World news - Duration: 3:13.Japan to get first aircraft carrier since second world war amid China concerns World news

Tokyo will upgrade helicopter carriers, a move critics say violates constitutional commitment to defensive role
Japan is to acquire at least one aircraft carrier for the first time since the second world war, as it attempts to counter Chinese maritime expansion in the Pacific ocean.
The government will upgrade its two existing Izumo-class helicopter carriers so they can transport and launch fighter jets, according to media reports. The plans are expected to be included in new defence guidelines due to be released next month.
This week the Nikkei business paper reported that Japan was poised to buy 100 F-35 stealth jets from the US at a cost of more than US$8.8bn, a year after Donald Trump urged Tokyo to buy more US-made military equipment.
The reported order is in addition to 42 F-35 jets it has already bought from the US.
Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe, told Trump in September that high-spec military equipment would be "important to strengthen Japan's defences".
By refitting its two 248-metre-long Izumo-class vessels, which can each carry up to 14 helicopters, Japan would in effect be acquiring its first aircraft carriers since the end of the war – a move critics say violates its postwar constitutional commitment to a purely defensive role for the military.
Previous Japanese governments have ruled out acquiring aircraft carriers, adhering to the postwar consensus that the vessels' capabilities could be interpreted as offensive, in a possible violation of the country's "pacifist" constitution.
In its latest defence white paper, Japan noted that China had acquired and built aircraft carriers to enable it to expand into Pacific waters near Japan's outlying south-western islands.
Increased Chinese naval activity in waters far from its shores has added to bilateral tensions over the Senkakus, uninhabited islets in the East China Sea that are administered by Japan but claimed by China, where they are known as the Diaoyu.
"It's desirable that the Izumo can be used for multiple purposes," the defence minister, Takeshi Iwaya, told reporters this week.
The carriers will be deployed to defend Japan's remote south-western islands, according to the Mainichi Shimbun.
The defence white paper, published in August, also voiced concern about Chinese military spending and naval activity in the South China Sea.

Free Sound Effects: Where to get free sounds for your videos - Duration: 7:14.In today's video we're going to talk about free sound effects.
Where to get them and how to use them in your videos.
So stay tuned!
If you haven't done so already,
hit that subscribe button. And don't forget to hit the bell for notifications.
Now if you go on Google and just Google free sound effects,
you will find a whole bunch of places.
But my favorite one is the top one listed here freesound.org
That's where I get the sound effects for my videos.
And let me show you around their site a little bit.
Now, when you first come on the site,
you'll notice you'll be able to look around.
But if you actually want a download one,
you'll need to sign up. It doesn't cost anything to sign up.
And they actually take donations if you want to give back to the community.
They have a home, sounds, forums, people and help.
This is an open source site. It's been around for a very long time.
And on the main page you'll see
updates to their blogs, what's coming,
you know, all the different things that you can find.
But the easiest way is if you're looking for a particular sound,
you can just search in here.
Say you want the sound of a cat.
I put in cat meowing.
And it takes me to several options.
You can see the date, you can see how many times it was downloaded,
you can see any comments made on the video.
And you can also take a look at Creative Commons.
This one is no commercial license.
Over here to the side you'll find licenses.
You have 113 of them that require attribution.
40 of them that are attribution but non-commercial.
But the ones I always go for our Creative Commons 0.
In other words, you do not have to give anybody credit for these.
These are open source and free for you to use.
So, I'm going to click on that.
And that will bring all the Creative Commons 0 ones out.
So let's take a listen to a couple of them.
That's a very cute little purr. Here's a meow.
And as you can see right here, It's going to tell you how many seconds
each one of them is. This one's 17 seconds.
This one's just a 1 second, 15 seconds
and you can also tell what kind of format they're in. This one's in a wav.
But like this one, it didn't say wave on it, but you can go over to it.
And you can play it from here.
And this one should be one second.
That was just a soft little one.
It's in wav format, it gives you the exact duration,
the file size, how many bits.
And you can see comments on it if there's been any complaints or hey, that's not working.
And then to download you just go right here.
Now let me show you a couple of the ones that I got and tell you how I use them.
Once you have an account, you can go to your account page.
You can go to the sounds downloaded.
I've downloaded two sounds.
This one right here is a record scratch.
I haven't used it yet,
but I've thought of a couple places I wanted to use it.
It would be like something where you'd want to like, change direction real quick.
You'll probably recognize this sound from other
videos that you've seen. It's a really cool sound
that you can use to change the directions in your video.
That's called a record scratch.
That one's a really fun one.
The other one I got is girl screaming.
And this one's two seconds long.
And let me show you the video I used that in.
It was actually a six second bumper I made.
Okay, this is a little six second bumper I made.
And I actually used that scream in this video.
So let's check that out.
So you can see how that scream kind of enhanced the video. We'll watch it one more time.
That's just an example of how you can use sound in your video
to make it stand out.
To make it pop. To make it change direction.
You don't need to go in and put in sound effects
every time you see walking putting walking sound effects,
every time you have a dog put in dog sound effects.
But use it to pop your video, use it to make it jump, use it to punctuate it.
If you're not really sure what kind of sound you want,
If you click on the sounds button,
you can hear the random sound of the day,
see what the latest sounds are,
and the most downloaded sounds.
Let's check a couple of these.
This one says whomp.
That was really cool. I am I'm not sure what I would use that for.
Let's see what this tension build up is.
That one looks really fun too.
Light wooshes
And you could take your sound editor, once you get one of these sounds.
You could change it by putting it through a compressor.
You could make other adjustments just make it sound a little bit differently.
Let's hear this one that just says bell.
It's a very crisp bell. Almost like a doorbell.
Most of the times they'll also tell you
what they did to get the sound. What kind of microphone they were using.
This one says metal on metal sliding movement.
Very simple.
But you may find it handy to use these in your videos.
So hop over to freesound.org
And check out some of the sounds.
Maybe look around and see if you can find one that will make your video pop.
If you have a free sound site that you'd like to recommend,
drop it in the comments down below and I'll check it out.
Thanks for watching. Bye. Bye
Hey, thanks for watching!
If you haven't already done it hit that subscribe button.
