content thing yeah cuz because it's like that's just not cricket it's not what we

what is this it says it's back to front because the outcome it says I'm kind of
a big deal ah that's aweso leave that if you guys to decide or not or if I'm just
fronting of it but yes well I love drinking from so I'm drinking a coffee
from Guatemala came from a company called Monmouth coffee based in Borough
Market central London and that a kind of company where you spend 25 minutes
queuing to get a thimble of coffee that they've ground for you there and then
they charge you basically get a little bit of change from five quid from it and
then you skip away enjoying the journey and you've got quite understanding why
you feel good about spending so much money that's so that works for me it's
called marketing
so Richard besides besides all of that coffee adventure that you're obsessing
yeah what else professionally are you most obsessed
with right now in only two words um linked in I would say is one most most
into professionally right now okay cool what do you would so what
about LinkedIn has you obsessed right now on the 30th of September this year
it'll be a decade to the day since I joined LinkedIn and it's moved from a
spectator sport where there's no one on the pitch to basically now very exciting
place where every three minutes there's a new opportunity being thrown your way
but of course a huge amount more and you know unicorn gifts per square inch I
think as well but it's a fascinating place because there's this injection of
fun and content that is lubricating the business process so I love it because
everything Facebook was kind of missing for a content creator that wants to do
something in their spare time as well I don't know if you guys agree so can I
call something out unicorn gifts per square
go ahead unicorn gifts per square inch I thought that was that was very well said
and then when he said lubricating business I mean I just I really wish I
could pour what you're saying in a cup and like carry it with me around my neck
all day and just be like the best thing ever like I feel like I want your voice
with Morgan Freeman so that I can like go to sleep at night knowing the world
like dude okay so let's get back the voice I might work I might I mean I I
really feel like coming this fall something there's something in your bed
it may involve coffee I love I love the I love the picture that you just painted
for us with talking about how and for those of us who don't watch soccer or
football a pitch is the where the goals are it's where they play soccer play
football so um you know I love how you reference there was like nobody really
playing and it was just a bunch of people talking about play and now it's
like every three seconds you've got her every three minutes you've got a a cross
coming in for a head on goal or yes right you know you've got a pass that's
gonna then be a through ball that's then gonna be a head on goal like I mean that
buildup in momentum and you see certain people taking a certain strategy mark
you see different clubs taking different strategies with their approach to
football or something and so it's really cool to see the creators coming up with
ways to create any different strategies but they're not all one of the same
they're not all cookie cutter they're not yeah everybody kind of starts the
same and then they find their voice in their rhythm and then it's like and bang
exactly I think I think that's you know that if I could add to that it's like
there's been the crowd the audience or the crowd has been sitting in their
seats for 14 years and there's nothing nothing there and a bunch of people come
onto the pitch who play different sports and they've all gone let's just make up
a sport as we go so the guys have been sitting there doing nothing going what
the hell is going on here and that's the difference you know Facebook is everyone
chatting and LinkedIn is was it point two percent of people producing content
so it's nice to be noticed so my question my question to you is do
you think with where Facebook is going and you said LinkedIn is almost the new
Facebook like do you see everybody from Facebook coming to LinkedIn or is it
just gonna stay you know business professionals and yeah I think thing
matters a lot because I think there is a saying marketers ruin everything but I I
think that we may be ok here because I think what's happening is Facebook has
reacted a bit to people taking the social platform originally and then
gaming it a bit to maybe you make it commercial and things like that and
there's this kind of pushback with the algorithm and so on to make it more
loved by those who want to be social meanwhile LinkedIn whether nice
conscious I don't know but they've really stepped in and I think as a place
to kind of do business but via content marketing it's gonna fill the gap that
we all wished Facebook would but they kind of show it down because we were
ruining it in a way and it could be that they're kind of meeting but then
separate and then Facebook becomes that pure social place as it really should be
right and then you got LinkedIn for business but done in a fun way
that's lubricated through through content could be careful using words
like that but that's Mike Matt's my take on the two very interesting very
interesting now I appreciated that perspective on
the whole Facebook first LinkedIn thing and how they're pushing it back and
forth on each other it's time for caffeinated questions
- ated which Justin Justin Timberlake Justin Bieber or Justin TV
Justin dot TV never heard of it but the other of the crap so yeah Justin got TV
Wayne Rooney or Paul Scholes Wayne Rooney cuz Paul Scholes doesn't exist
pulse goals is the other guy he might mention I know it we can't we can't
speak properly the Beatles or the Rolling Stones Rolling Stones man coffee
or tea coffee I mean it coffee the Queen's gonna be man I'm meeting her
at 3:00 would you rather survive to the
beginning of the world or live to the end of the world end
I love progress yeah and good question if you had to travel in time and stay
there would you travel forward in time or
backward in time backward yeah I'm fresh out time for an espresso shot double
Richard if you could drink coffee with anybody that has ever lived but is no
longer living not family who would it be and what would you talk about over
coffee a very good question Stephen Hawking I think we talked about
creationism nautical interesting double espresso shut if you can have coffee
with anybody who is alive right that is not family who would that be and if we
could tag them right here and put them on LinkedIn and bring them to your face
who would that person be anyone in the world just think I think someone like oh
no I'm a Gary Vaynerchuk have you guys heard of him before that'd be good who's
that who is that what does he do he's just getting into content generation
doesn't like a baby you might get a tag and he might be on LinkedIn I don't get
as many followers yet well we'll check but on that note uh stage is yours for
the final drop the coffee is getting real low Richard what was yours
thought-provoking question for the viewers or final piece of guidance if
you could produce one last piece of content the question is what would you
produce that content about who I love that is awesome well on that note let's
have some coffee
that's exactly why I sat back here did nothing because I was waiting for that
