Edward Joseph Dwight Jr. is...
he is an African-American sculptor.
Obviously we see his work displayed on the south end of the Texas Capitol.
But he's also a U.S. Captain in the United States Air Force.
He was the first African-American
to be trained as an astronaut.
He's a graduate of Arizona State University
with a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering.
He has a master's in aeronautical engineering,
graduating cum laude.
He's just an incredible man.
So when you see the astronaut feature there at the monument,
you see where that homage is being paid to just that field.
So it was just awesome that he was able to use those skills
as well to produce such
an incredible monument
that we now see and enjoy at the Texas Capitol.
