Auto news on Youtube Feb 27 2018

Hello.

I'm Martin Kronberg, and this is the IOT developer show.

We have a little bit of a different show for you

guys today.

In this episode, we're going to talk

with Kim Karalekas, a program manager here at Intel.

And she's going to discuss the IOT track of the Intel software

innovator program, and how you can

be part of this select group of developers.

Kim, thank you so much for joining us today.

Thanks for having me.

So what do you do here at Intel?

I've been within Intel since 2015,

and I'm a program manager.

And I program manage the IOT track of the innovator program.

Well do you want to tell us more about the innovative program?

Sure.

So the innovative program is a trusted group

of professional developers, and they volunteer their time

to develop IOT work, and present their work

to developer communities.

And so what sorts of things do they contribute?

So there are a lot of different things

that innovators participate in.

For example, innovators participate

as featured presenters at industry events,

at conferences, and meet UPS.

They lead in support commercials focus workshops, hackathon,

and meet ups in their own respective communities.

They generate content via things like blog posts and videos.

They also build cutting edge demos

using Intel IOT technology.

Very cool.

Well do they also get a chance to present any of their work,

perhaps at prestigious industry events?

Yes.

So historically the innovators have had many opportunities

to do that.

For example, they've been at conferences such as the Intel

Developer Forum, the Intel Innovator

summet, embedded world, and the global IOT detfast.

Well those sound like some really great events to attend.

But it sounds like the innovators are putting

in a lot of volunteer time.

So what kind of benefits and rewards

can they expect from Intel?

So there's a lot of benefits to the program.

For example, they get really access to Intel technology.

They have opportunities to attend industry conferences.

They also have access to Intel experts,

such as engineers and management.

And they also have the opportunity

to be part of a like minded community,

and to also establish their name in the IOT field.

So what kinds of technologies do they get early access to?

So it's always changing, but last year,

for example innovators were able to get their hands

on the latest hardware.

And also develop our kits before they are

made available to the public.

Well that sounds like a really great way

to get a head start on developing on new technologies.

So what would make a good fit, do you think, for the program?

Some of the things that we look for in an Intel innovator

are highly skilled developers who

are active and passionate about IOT

and IOT technology and the IOT community.

Were looking for those who attend events and conferences.

Those who create content and build

demos using Intel technology.

And also people who are enthusiastic,

and who have a desire to regularly engage

with developer communities.

OK.

Well it sounds like you guys are looking

for a pretty broad range of people for this program,

both in terms of technical development,

as well as community engagement.

Yes.

So the great thing about the innovator program

is it's not a one size fits all program.

And some innovators like to do things like run workshops

or go to events.

Where others are more interested in doing demos and having

meet up groups.

Where can people go to learn more about this program?

So to learn more about the program,

developers can go to the Intel innovators sign up page,

and we've provided a link to it.

And we'd be excited to have more innovators join the program.

And what if people want to go out and see

some of the projects that the innovators have

done in the past.

So we've provided a link to dub mash,

which is a repository where innovators

can showcase their work.

Well you know this sounds like a really great opportunity

for developers that both want to increase their development

skills, as well as engage with the IOT developer community

as a whole.

Kim, thank you so much for coming here

to talk us about this really great program.

Thanks for having me.

Before signing off, I had a quick announcement.

My colleague Gail Homeland, who is an Intel evangelist,

is leading an industrial IOT developer webinar series.

Join on March 6th or April 10 for this webinar

tailored for industrial IOT developers and engineers.

And that's all for the IOT developers show for today.

Intel's new 8th Gen Core processor with Radeon RX Vega M

Graphics recently launched.

We're giving you the specs and how

to start utilizing the smallest VR-capable system ever.

I'm Stephanie Essin and this is IDC weekly.

This new processor offers up to three times

the frames per second in devices as thin as 17 millimeters.

This is because it brings together

the Intel quad-core CPU, Radeon RX Vega M Graphics, and four

gigabytes of dedicated HBM2 using Intel's embedded

Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge Technology.

This acts as a high-speed information bridge

and reduces the usual silicon footprint.

This new processor delivers a top-of-the-line experience

for gamers and VR enthusiasts.

And with all the space savings, imagine how thin and light OEMs

can make devices.
