Hey everyone! Dan Ruimy, your Member of Parliament for Pitt Meadows - Maple Ridge!
It's constituency week and I decided to take a week of personal time and fly to
Malawi, Africa with George Klassen of Project Wellness.
George has built well number 44 and that is right behind me.
We spent the last couple of days boring into the ground and bringing fresh water
to this village that did not have water.
Some of you may remember about a year ago, I stood up in the House of Commons
and I gave a speech on George Klassen, honouring his 80th birthday
and having gone to Malawi, Africa and built 39 wells.
At the end of that speech I said maybe one day George I'll be out there with you building a well
and guess what here we are today!
It was an honour to do it in your presence, I am glad we did it.
It was special to me too that you came and saw firsthand what was going on and
how excited the villages are when they got fresh water. Thank you!
We got to go to a couple of the orphanages here in Malawi as well as one of the local schools.
We had a lot of fun with the kids and we laughed and we sang.
Project Wellness does not just drill wells, they also have built a couple of orphanages and you see the need for it.
One we went to there were probably about 30 kids that do not have parents and
don't have a future and the potential and the glory that our kids in North America have.
But when you see these kids that are five years old, six years old, seven years old
and the joy in their face when you come and you smile and you sing with them.
We look and we see what they don't have;
They look and they see what they do have.
I think that's a miracle in itself.
This week in Malawi Africa comes to an end
and it closes the journey that started three years ago when I first met George Klassen.
He explained to me what he was doing out here by drilling wells.
It's been a fantastic week to see the joy and the life that have been created.
This was an amazing journey and I look forward to our next adventure together.
