If a person has been diagnosed with wet macular degeneration, the best way to treat that is
with an injection of a medicine into the eyeball.
It's called an intravitreal inejction.
About 97 percent of people with wet macular degeneration
will benefit from an intravitreal injection.
One of the things a person with dry age-related macular degeneration can do to decrease their
risk of progression is taking an AREDS 2 vitamin.
This is a multivitamin, and lutein and zeaxanthin have been put into the AREDS 2 vitamin.
And so that is what I currently recommend for patients with dry age-related macular degeneration.
