Split Decision 2018 - Texas Ag. Commissioner Sid Miller and primary challenger Trey Blocker face off - Duration: 4:59.
Hi, I'm Trey Blocker, and I'm running to be the next agriculture
commissioner of Texas.
I'm Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller,
and I'm running for re-election.
Well, I actually have some agriculture in my background,
My opponent doesn't have any.
I have worked my entire career on behalf of agriculture in rural Texas.
I'm an eighth-generation farmer and rancher,
still make my living off the land in Stephenville, Texas,
where I raise cattle and horses and various crops.
This is not a contest to see who can shoe a horse
or palpate a cow.
I actually have a degree in agriculture.
My opponent does not.
This is a race to determine who is best equipped
to run this agency.
The things right now that are outside the agency
that we're really focusing on is NAFTA.
We have to get these out-of-control fees under control — that have risen by as much
as 500 percent under the current commissioner.
We have the farm bill coming up, that's always important to every producer
in the state of Texas.
I want to reduce the bureaucracy and either eliminate programs
that are no longer necessary or move programs to agencies where they
can be more properly handled.
And then, of course, we are still working hard
to re-tool the agency here, so those are the top three on our list.
Immigration is an issue that is very important
to the agriculture industry in Texas.
Probably a third of the immigrants coming
into the United States are involved in agriculture.
So we're a big player in that.
Commissioner Miller and I definitely have different views on immigration.
For instance, he voted for in-state tuition
for illegal immigrants when he was in the Texas house.
We certainly are for legal immigration and legal guest workers.
I believe we should eliminate all magnets
that attract people to immigrate here illegally.
We don't support illegal activity.
Reduce legal immigration in half, eliminate chain migration,
eliminate the visa lottery program.
You know, I certainly think we should build the wall
and no amnesty for DACA, and so I'm pretty much in line
with the president on that.
Social media is a great tool.
It's good to reach the voters with your message directly.
I put out probably 150 posts a week.
And try very hard to scrub those.
But I think that can be done in a way
that is thoughtful, intelligent and respectful.
Well, you know, you can take a look at the president.
He gets criticized a lot for maybe being on social media too much.
And it doesn't have to be controversial at all times
simply for the sake of being controversial.
Well, we certainly don't perpetuate propaganda,
that's not something that I do.
I'd never condone, and never will.
The Texas Ethics Commission has found him guilty
of numerous ethical transgressions.
I don't even know what you're talking about.
My introductory commercial for my campaign
was filmed in Fredericksburg, where I live.
That particular scene that he criticizes for the restaurant serving
Nutella banana crepes was actually the Old German
Bakery in Fredericksburg, Texas.
I don't think Nutella crepes are an issue.
My opponent is very adept at diversionary tactics.
We like to have fun, there's nothing wrong with having a little fun.
He thought he was going to be able to paint me
as something that I'm not.
I think people take themselves to seriously.
Have you had Nutella?
I have not.
You haven't, okay.
I never have tried Nutella,
I'm more of a biscuits and gravy kind of guy.
We do have some here, would you like to try it, or?
You know he's just going to use it against me.
I'll try it, sure.
You have him eat it and then I'll come back
and I'll film me eating it.
Is this a Texas product?
You mind if I keep this?
Ew, I don't think so.
Ugh, that stuff's gross.

Austin Texas Nightlife- Rainey Street - Duration: 1:21.
What once was entirely residential, is now one of Austin's top entertainment
districts.
Rainey Street is in downtown Austin.
Historic bungalows have been
converted into bars and restaurants with spacious yards.
Day or night you will
find lots of people, dogs and fun.
Many food trucks are scattered throughout the
street.
Stop at Bangers Sausage House And Beer Garden.
They have 30 house-made sausages
from sweet to spicy, and everything in between.
With 100 beers on tap, there's a
brew for everyone.
A few days a week they have live music and once a month they
threw a huge party called smoke out Saturday.
Rainy Street at night is filled
with live music.
Thanks so much for watching!
This is one of several Austin videos that I filmed so
